"The dinner is included in the accommodation package, so although some non-residents have mentioned that the prices are a bit high, they offer good value in the package. The tables are crammed in, so there isn't a restaurant feel or atmosphere in the room. The service was friendly but at times overly casual. The boss enjoyed both the starters, haggis, and peppers, but my pate and salmon were not exciting. She had a fish dish both evenings and enjoyed them. The plate my steak pie arrived on was cold, causing the mash to become claggy, so I didn't finish it. The pie itself was okay. Overall, the food is good pub grub served in large portions, but there is room for improvement. It's great for refueling, but not quite up to par if you're looking for something more special."

Country setting amongst the rolling hills. Great Scottish hospitality, clean rooms well laid out with a good homemade food.

We had a bit of a wait, as they squeezed us in without a reservation. But the service was friendly and the food was excellent quality from a no frills menu. The curry was truly excellent.

The restaurant offers delicious food and excellent service. The menu is quite traditional, but has a good variety (although more options for vegetarians would be appreciated). Overall, worth a visit.

Great experience. Motel like layout means ground level entry to most rooms. Accommodation very clean and comfortable. Wonderful food and so much of it. And management and staff are so helpful and friendly. View menu

We liked this restaurant very much. It was pleasantly quiet and the staff were very friendly and very professional. We had the seabass and the steak and they were cooked to perfection. We would recommend this restaurant and we hope to return some time.

Excellent, well thoughtfully presented food. Dining companion has sever food allergies but both waiting kitchen staff were switched on, understanding and very helpful. Meal for four plus drinks was fairly priced. Highly recommend the Lemon Parfait 12/10

My husband and I stopped off here on our way to the boat, beautiful location, friendly staff and amazing meal. I got the haggis and black pudding balls to start my husband had the soup of the day, both excellent, I then had the chicken fillet burger which came with chips and salad, my husband had the steak and ale pie with mash and veg, again both excellent, we both then had apple sponge and custard, gorgeous way to finish our meal. We will def be calling here again and we would both highly recommend. View menu

My partner and I recently spent two nights in one of the self-catering units at the Woodlands Hotel. The unit was well-equipped with a lounge/kitchen and a spacious shower-room on the ground floor, and a comfortable king-size bed on the mezzanine level. The shower was excellent and the room was very quiet, with a lovely sea view. The owners were very welcoming. My only suggestion for improvement would be to include fresher breakfast options such as fresh bread, croissants, milk, juice, and yogurt, as well as fresh filter coffee and a toaster.

We had a lovely evening meal here, arriving at 8:30pm on a Sunday. Often Sunday evenings in a restaurant can be a bit dead with staff giving the impression they want to close. Not the case here, although not hugely busy, there were a few couples and a pleasant relaxed feel that made us feel valued customers. The menu was varied, without being overwhelming and the pace of service perfect I hate my food arriving with express speed when I'm out for the evening. We weren't on a dinner, bed and breakfast rate as others mention, but I found the pricing reasonable and the quality very good.
