"That's the real deal. We wanted to get away from Heidelberg and the tourist trap restaurants and were thrilled. My wife and I were the only two English-speaking people in a very crowded place and I loved it. The food was excellent and... proportions were great. Small but very cozy atmosphere and friendly enough service. Seems to be family business and popular with locals. The only reason I had there was 4 out of 5 review is because the apple strudel seemed to be microwave from a frozen prefabricated piece, similar to something you can buy in the frozen part of a food. Everything else was great, but and good value for money."

Came here on a Sunday morning to see the locals sing (from 11am-1), we drank Applewine with sparkling water (like a homemade Cider) we had liver sausage and a schnitzel with cheese, If we are in the area will definitely return as the people were super friendly....

The food was wonderful, the Porkshaxe was beautifully tender and cooking with roast potatoes a dream. The kitchen is excellent and can only be recommended. The service is also 1A, the services are fleeting and attentive. All in all, a great stay with live music for early-stop and good mood.

We were brought to dinner by our German friends. A local restaurant where all meals are produced on the menu. Always in advance to book and the restaurant was filled with locals. The owner asked where we came and called for silence to tell all the guests where we came from. The dishes were fantastic and the owner played piano and sang local songs. A wonderful evening.

Visited this Oldenwald restaurant today and Easter Lamb was on the menu. It was one of the best meals I had in this region for many years! There is also a comprehensive menu and I would think that all their meals would be on the same high standard. They also have very good intake beer in addition to the normal bottles. The restaurant rooms are small and cozy, very clean and the meals are very beautifully presented. It is a small family business and the staff was all very pleasant. Prices are also very acceptable. I can come back urgently.

Loved this restaurant. My friend and I were near Hirschberg, and we wanted a real German restaurant experience. This place fits the bill. Although the restaurant seems to pay attention to the local village group, they were so inviting. Although we were ready to stumble our way through the menu in German, they had a copy in English that made it a little easier to make our selection. I had the pork lobe in mushroom cream sauce, and my friend had the Jagerschnitzel. We left the restaurant full and happier... and it was such a nice experience that we returned the next night to dinner.

Visited this Oldenwald restaurant today and being Easter time Lamb was on the menu. It was one of the best meals I've had in this region for many years! There is also a comprehensive menu and I would think that all of their meals would be up to the same high standard. They also have very good draught beer available in addition to the normal bottled stuff. The restaurant rooms are small and "gemütlich", very clean and the meals are very nicely presented. It is a small family run business and the staff were all very pleasant. The prices are very acceptable also. I can strongly recommed.

This is the real deal. Went here to get away from Heidelberg and the tourist trap restaurants and was delighted. My wife and I were the only two English speaking people in a very crowded place and I loved it. The food was excellent and portions were large. Small but very cozy atmosphere and friendly enough service. Seems to be family run and popular with locals. The only reason I gave it 4 out of 5 rating is because the Apfelstrudel seemed to be microwaved from a frozen pre-made piece, similar to something you can buy in the frozen section of a grocery. Everything else was great though and good value for the money.
