Bath, a charming city known for its Roman baths and Georgian architecture, offers classic British dishes like fish and chips and hearty pies, often enjoyed with local ales.

"I was on a tour, so the time was for me. This place proved to be the easiest to find, so I ran in, asked something that was delicious, vegan and spicy. The man teased me, but put in an aile folder and left me out there in my 10 minutes time frame. I spent the entire 10 minutes gawking in the restaurant, which was very nice. It is a very large, spacious and welcoming place, full of cultural art and colour. My food was full of this irresistible aroma I love in Indian cuisine. I was glad to have found this place in my crazy dash."

"the ignorance of the food industry towards food allergies is frightening and the heart restaurant is an excellent example for this unpredictable ignorance. the restaurant was informed in advance about the heavy allergy of my daughter on seafood. they gave us a table next to the kitchen, because they ignore at the heart that an allergic reaction can be caused by breathing in steaming from the cooking of seafood or any food. they fry the chips in the same oil where they roast seafood and roast the meat at the same place where they fry the garnels. the alternative offered was a waiting period of 30 minutes, hoping that someone would go. they let us wait in a street where the other restaurants wore their müll and smoke the people. unnecessary to say that we have gone. when we add that the restaurant was aware that it was my 40th birthday and we were there to celebrate, the image of an absolute ignorance and inability becomes more complete. absolutely terrible experience. to avoid any event!"

"The pizza was really tasty the cheese was good and the topping combos were lovely. I had the bbq jackfruit pizza which was definitely the right choice. However I think this was 1 of maybe 2 vegan pizza options? I didn’t ask but i’m sure other pizzas could be adjusted to be vegan! My pizza came with peppers (which i asked for without) so lost all my cheese by being fussy and picking them off but still well worth the money. Good prices and good service otherwise!"

"This was my first time in Bath. Came here as a visitor from Chicago. There are so many pubs around that it really is hard to compare them all. I am glad we experienced this one though. Drinks were good and although there wasn't too many people in at the time, the environment was great. I really like the overall look and feel of this pub."

"Sunday lunch falls into two camps in my experience over-complicated, over-hip and small, or bland, big and stodgy. Last Sunday at the Wheelwrights Arms I enjoyed a superb Sunday roast that got just the right balance of flavour, concept and portion size. I was...initially reluctant to pay £17.50 for roast pork belly, but everything, including the excellent service, was so good I think it was worth it. You can drive to the pub or walk most of the way along the Kennet and Avon canal path, and you can also access it from the Two Tunnels Greenway walk. It was raining when we went so we couldn't sit in the lovely sunny garden, but no matter. The succulent and generous wodge of pork belly came with perfect roasties, Yorkshire pudding (slighty overdone actually), crisp buttery cabbage, a whole and pleasingly soft, aniseedy carrot without the gritty top left on as so many chefs do, apple sauce, baked Roscoff onion, and a delicious gravy that the staff are willing to top up whenever necessary. My vegetarian friend was initially disappointed there was no nut roast option, but she just swapped out the pork for a portion of cauliflower cheese and was very happy. Desserts were also really good and although rich and satisfying, not overly sweet and cloying. I had a brownie with blood orange sorbet and chocolate sauce, and my friend had an exemplary sticky toffee pudding. If you want to treat yourself to a really special Sunday roast I can highly recommend The Wheelwrights Arms."

"This morning, I enjoyed a lovely plant on the archway at this restaurant. I had delicious tea and toast to go with it. The friendly staff really made the experience special, and the food was both good and plentiful, especially considering the affordable price for trying somewhere new. There were many parking spots right in front of the restaurant. It was quite unique listening to the trains passing overhead right on time."

"as someone who rarely ordered fish while eating, I mean review of hole fyne, bath, inconspicuous a fish concentrated restaurant chain. that is, the perfect guide for the rare English summer day is the combination of salmon and white wine, and these restaurants both do pretty well. (I wish I had been adventurous enough for the haggis on the menu, but forgive myself when it was not a bitter evening in the januar). the location hole fyne is beautiful, a large but still intimate room with the obligatory bathroom marble colonnades, with an open preparation area at an end and a fresh feeling decor. I always thought that the restaurant would work well as traditional, so we ordered a few courses to start a special day, namely a light plate consisting of a many number of smoked salmon and terrines, (very fresh) oysters for the next course and for the main starter fish cake, served in a traditional clam, for me the highlight. in harmony with the light and fresh mood, the decor and the kitchen we ordered a chabis from the well ordered wine list. enough to fill, but not to weigh, this is a great place to lunch with a drink."

"While on holiday in Bath, my companions and I stumbled upon Vino Vino for dinner. It turned out to be a perfect choice. The food was truly delicious, with attentive staff both at the table and at the bar. I appreciated that they were willing to think outside the box when I requested a cocktail that wasn't on the menu. The combination of coconut and vanilla syrup in my drink was just right for my palate. Service was consistently excellent, with timely clearing of our table and a high level of professionalism. The Quattro Formaggio pizza with mushrooms reminded me of the flavors of Italy, giving me a pleasant sense of deja-vu. We enjoyed our experience so much that we returned the next day for a light lunch, which was once again perfect."

"This is the best Indian food I have ever tasted! Don't underestimate this restaurant by its appearance - once you walk in, you will be amazed by the beautiful ambiance and delicious dishes. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, and they offer a great variety of vegan and gluten-free options. Despite the ongoing Covid-19 situation, I felt very safe dining here as all the staff were wearing masks and practicing social distancing. The dining experience was still just as special. I will definitely be coming back to try the tasting menu!"

"I love this shop, yummy doughnuts that are so good for you, naughty but very nice. Lovely staff that smile and are so happy. Great communication and customer service. You are a joy in my day."
"We enjoyed eating at The Marlborough Tavern in Bath. However, we did have to wait for our different orders to come through so, as there were 4 of us, it did mean some meals were getting cold. The service was variable one waitress was very accommodating but not so sure about the other. We found the prices pretty elevated to be honest considering the food was good but not outstanding really. The noise level was definitely challenging. We think it's the general poor level of acoustics in the room. Overall, it was a nice evening but that was more down to seeing old friends than the dining experience."

"Service was appalling. Food was from passable to disgusting. At one point a member of our party had to get up and find a member of staff to request missing cutlery. Any time we needed to be attended to, the staff were non-apparent. To say service was slow would be an understatement. The one child in our group was served last. Pretty poor show. The food was presented in separate containers meaning we had to tip it onto our plates to eat comfortably. Who has salad from a cone with steak?? One of the ordered sauces was missing. We were interrogated as to whether we'd ever ordered it when we requested it. To top everything, the churros ordered tasted as though they'd been fried in the same oil as onion rings, and this is NOT one of those unusual but interesting flavour pairings, it's just lazy and quite disgusting. I would definitely NOT recommend the place, and the fact that the prices are similar to Miller and Carter but with about as much finesse as Harvester or Brewer's Fayre is an absolute cheek. The portions are also very small compared to Miller and Carter. The only actual member of staff who seemed to understand the concept of customer service was the front of house person with interesting ink, the rest really ought to consider a different line of work."

"On our first trip to the UK we stopped in to the Coeur De Lion Pub for cider and lunch. Atmosphere is very local, and very friendly. Staff was wonderfully kind to us, very friendly, and since we ate outside brought our meal out to us as well. I hadn't tried Steak and Ale pie before, but for the next week after eating here I was chasing the same meal that I had here at the Coeur De Lion, Steak and Ale pie with garden peas. All in all between London, Bath and Brighton, I had 4 Steak and Ale pies over 10 days, and the variety offered here was simply the best. The Coeur de Lion seems to be a locals pub, if there is such a thing in Bath. Sequestered down an alley and out of the way, you'd have to either be lost, or looking for it, in order to find it. It is worth the trip, and next time we are in Bath we will visit again."

"My son and I popped in after the dentist and we had a superb lunch. We received an amazing welcome from David, who could not have been more friendly or helpful, and really made us feel valued. We had a lovely table in the window to watch the world go by as we ate. Our food was delicious. I had the rotisserie chicken with fries and my son had an amazing burger. Both were great and excellent value for money. Would highly recommend!"

"I stopped by for a drink on Thursday night and was not disappointed. We ordered a rum-based cocktail that was a bit different for us, but absolutely delicious! This was followed by another rum cocktail that was also fantastic. Both were reasonably priced, especially with the sharer at £16 and the 2-for-1 cocktail offer. The atmosphere was friendly, and the decor was lovely. Although we only had drinks this time, I definitely plan to return for a meal. The menu looked fantastic, and everything that came out of the kitchen looked great and smelled amazing!"

"popped in bertinet bakery this morning and bought an oblong sourdough laaf and a salted caramel chocolate brownie. the brot from this bakery is excellent! we never eat another brot in our house because of the sheer quality of bertinet. if they have the opportunity to visit the bakery, it is worth visiting. like for the brownie, salted caramel sky! update: I went in and bought a pear and hazelnut tar that was incredible."

"we chose the restaurant for the convenient access and also because I was before and then enjoyed it. greeting and personal were good, beautiful and efficient. the food itself was not great : one of us had the shepherds pie and lamm rack, which seemed tasty, but the part was tiny! I had the prawn krabbe linguini and it was so spicy and so full of garlic that I could hardly eat it and had no joyful taste of something out of burned garlic! pity! it has actually felt very uncomfortable to the point of illness. please taste her food before they serve the generality"

"We visited during a city event, so it was a busy evening and our group couldn't find seats inside. The menu had changed just three days prior, which made us brace for potential hiccups, given our expectations of a Gordon Ramsay-level experience. We were pleasantly surprised to be offered blankets, as the temperature was a bit chilly. The menu was very appealing, and the food was delicious and well-prepared, although I was somewhat disappointed with the lackluster presentation of some cocktails. Everything went smoothly until we ordered desserts. We ended up waiting quite a while before we had to cancel them as we had another event to attend. While the restaurant was busy, the wait for dessert was excessive. Overall, it was a nearly perfect experience, and I would love to try it again on a quieter night."

"Went here for lunch today and was very pleasantly surprised. We sat outside on the Patio at the front which was in the sunshine. The table was clean and comfortable. Service was prompt, efficient and friendly. The menu was excellent, plenty of variation's all of them appealing plus three different specials (main and some additional starters). Deciding what to have was the hardest part. Eventually my sister chose the Chicken Shawarma Salad with warmed Middle Eastern Chicken Breast, Quinoa Tabbouleh, Pickled Red Cabbage, Beetroot and Cumin Hummus, Mint Raita and Flatbread at £15.50 which looked fantastic and she tells me, tasted excellent. She struggled to finish but it tasted too good to leave. I went for the Spicy Chickpea and Nut Burger with Iceberg Lettuce, Tomato and Mayonnaise topped with Onion Marmalade in a Ciabatta Bun plus Fries and House Slaw £15.00. This was a great choice, tasty, filling and very healthy. We had a soda and lime plus a pot of Tea. Total Bill £35.60. A great Pub, great Food, Great Service. Whats not to like. The down side? It's a bit difficult to get to. The lane leading up to the pub is narrow and passing spots are limited. But worth the effort."

"My favourite pub in the whole Bath and Bristol region, there is no better place for a Sunday lunch or dinner! The pub itself is a period building located in a quiet, picturesque nestling of a leafy village that immediately conveys warmth, character and a quaint, English charm. Indoors is a well-spaced yet homely feel, adorned with wooden beams and a fireplace too. Most of the pub is open plan yet cosy, and seating in an enclosed area is available too. In warmer climes however, you can dine on the terrace or out at the front. Not all tables are provided with sun-brellas though, and those without can leave you exposed to the sun. The staff tends to be locals or Bath Uni students, all of whom are polite. A varied menu offers generous portions of home-cooked British favourites, steaks and salads as well as a specials board featuring more contemporary and upmarket dishes. The food is very satisfying indeed, and desserts are equally sumptuous. What differentiates this pub from the rest though is its wonderful location, being situated by a canal towpath. During the summer there are few lovelier places to be. After lunch/dinner, you can work off the meal by going for a leisurely stroll along the canal or sit on the banks. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. This is somewhere you'd always look forward to coming back again and again."
