"Wedding reception venue simply wonderful We booked this venue late in the spring, a month or two before the wedding day. We did not expect the organisation and dedication that became obvious as soon as we turned up for the day. This lovely group of ladies delivered a smooth and hiccup less afternoon and evening. The table and room dressing was set up beautifully. We were able to bring a little blue tooth stereo to run our two play lists from and a couple of lights. We had a seated party for 50 dining in the main and over 100 in attendance for the buffet and evening do that went on until 11pm. The starters and main courses were simply delicious, there was not a single complaint and the buffet saw people taking sandwiches, samosa's home with them, as well as the sweet treats. We used the garden and the orangery as our wedding platform, great to see the kids running around out back and so many tables, chairs, and parasols for shade. My only suggestion for improvement, and this is being picky, is perhaps a 2nd AC machine in the orangery as this is such an excellent sun trap. This venue and indeed service was excellent value for money so we left a nice tip, the least we could do in the circumstances. We were able to say thank you to the chef and staff before we left, but it is very hard to convey what a splendid job they did in making our day really stress free and special. "Terrible service actually the worse I have experienced in a long time I was still eating my main and we got given the bill she then brought the card machine over 2 seconds later asking me to pay the bill all whilst still eating as the forgot my main so had to wait whilst everyone else was eating she then put the cost in the machine £30 over then what the bill said I didn’t notice this until it was too late and we had paid finally the manager came over laughing and found it funny we had been over charged by £30 she arranged a refund but so rude and just a terrible attitude the stuff had won’t be returning"

"We arrived and the booking, through open table, had apparently not gone through. I had the online receipt and the manager eventually sorted us a table out . The food overall was prett unimpressive. The salad was ok but not great. The crackerjack prawns were served in a plastic cup which gets zero points for presentation. The Half chicken and chips lacked meat on the chicken and was dry and the chips were very salty. It was served with a plastic tiny tub with a teaspoon of salad and I didn't even waste my time on it. The waitress was polite and efficient and although she did ask if we were happy we did not give an honest reply as we were treating my wife's sister and we felt embarrassed. They really need to try harder. We had eaten here a month or two earlier and had no problems"

"One thing I would like to highlight is the need for designated seating for families with children. It was chaotic having kids running around freely while parents chased after them throughout the pub, which could easily lead to accidents—none of us would want to be blamed for that! I noticed a waiter struggling to navigate past little ones while carrying a tray full of wine and beer glasses, which is concerning. It might be beneficial for the management to create a family-friendly area in the pub. I also had a crying child right next to me, which made for a less than pleasant experience during my special birthday dinner. I would love to return and see that this issue has been addressed so that everyone can enjoy their meals and drinks in peace."

"I have been a customer of this takeaway for many years, often ordering for groups of two to eight people. We always call ahead to place our order and schedule a pickup time. The wait time upon arrival is usually minimal, and there is a 10% discount for pickups. In all the time we have ordered from them, we have never had a disappointing meal. We have tried a variety of dishes, including the King Prawn Jalfezi, Chicken Nezamee, and Shatkora Chicken, and each one has been deliciously prepared, generous in portion size, and bursting with flavor. I highly recommend this restaurant."

"The lady at front of house had a terrible attitude. Previous to booking through opentable I asked in person if I could book a table for, NO, NO bookings. I couldn’t even finish my sentence before she rudely shut me down. So I hopped on to Opentable where I could indeed book. I received my notification via email and turned up for my booking 1.5 hours after booking through the app. I was greeted again by the same terrible service by the same terrible woman. Rolling her eyes and saying no I have no booking. You are too early. We do not have it on our system. You will have to come back in 15 minutes. Incidentally the table we were eventually sat down at was free when we arrived for our assigned booking as I had saw it empty through the window when we turned up for our scheduled booking. A terrible start to what was otherwise a nice meal with tasty food and a fabulous dessert."

"This was our second visit to The Green Man and it was a lovely lunch with our daughter. We always enjoy dining there, but the only issue is that it is far from where we live. Otherwise, we would visit more frequently."

"Myself and my Boyfriend stayed at the hotel for the weekend. The food that we had on the evening of our stay was absolutely amazing!! We came for the spa and relaxation experience which we received but we were overwhelmed by how good the food was. Even the bread and butter we had was great! I had the scollops to start while my partner had the pigeon both of which we loved. I then had the ox cheek while he had the pork chop, my main course was my favourite part of the meal, the meat was cooked amazingly and everything complimented it so well. For dessert we had the orange chocolate fondant and the banana parfait which were a great way to end our meal. The gentleman who was serving us was so lovely (I’m really annoyed I didn’t get his name) He was telling us about how he was moving up higher to management? Whoever he was he was very hospitable. We had a bottle of red with our meal and finished it off with a couple of amazing cocktails at the bar. We also had breakfast at the restaurant too, the best eggs benedict I’ve ever had! My ONLY criticism of the whole weekend was the bar staff at the lounge/bar area could have been a little more accommodating, the lady kept disappearing when ourselves and other guests required more drinks. I would 100% recommend this hotel and especially the restaurant!"

"I always like going to the mixed reviews places to see whether the reviews are fair. Lovely building. Made booking easy, and were accommodating when we called ahead to sat we were late. Kind welcoming reception. We were asked for drinks early on. There is a delay for food but it was not unreasonable, it was a busy time and it was nearly full. Lovely choices on the menu, good variety. Good choices for kids, although it didn’t stipulate that the kids mash had spring onions and my daughter (as I expect many kids would) wanted plain mash. Or at least stipulate on the menu and we could choose to avoid. Food was nice enough, but processed. It arrived a good temperature and tasted nice enough. The service was the best part of our experience and is why we gave the rating we did. Very friendly attentive young lady, who was very polite and regularly asking if we needed things. Spot on."

"My friends and I arrived 5 minutes before our booking very standard and we 're told we were 'too early ' (rude and to go and sit at the bar and wait as our table was still full and to set up a tab then to not set up a tab then to set up a tab (rude . No one was at the bar to serve us (rude . Half an hour later, no one had come over to seat us, so my friend went up and only then did the door host then seat us (rude . Having been sat down 15 minutes (rude and I asked for a drink twice (rude we are now 45 minutes into our booking when someone did come over this was to tell us to move as it was the only disability accessible table (which we would be more than happy to move for but there was no please, no sorry no anything she just said 'we 're going to have to move you ' (rude . I was absolutely horrified at this rudeness. We then moved and I asked for my drink a third time (rude and honestly, by the time our order was taken we had been there a full hour (rude . This was a Sunday evening so I didn 't want to be there as late as we ended up being (hence why I made a booking! and also the majority of the restaurant was empty so why on earth they couldn 't just sit us at another table is beyond me. I have worked in restaurants myself for years and I am generally very understanding of waiters and restaurants but none of this behaviour is acceptable or explainable. In summary, we booked it meant nothing, we waited an hour to even order, staff were beyond rude at multiple points and extremely unaccommodating and we were generally treated like we were almost a burden to be there? I genuinely was horrified at the service I received I have never experienced anything like it. I cannot condemn this place enough it was absolutely appalling."

"After booking weeks in advance for my girlfriends 30th birthday, we arrived at the restaurant to find it was closed with a hand written note pinned to the door. I had an email the day before asking to confirm my booking but no email to let me know the venue was unexpectedly closed for the evening. This was a huge disappointment and it threw off our other plans for the evening. We had both wanted to try this restaurant for a while after hearing good things but now are not so sure we'll bother to try again. Kalifornia Kitchen haven't responded to an email making a direct complaint and Opentable have given me 1000 points, which are effectively useless to me."
