"Organised a surprise birthday lunch and Truffles were very accommodating in arranging to reserve a large table as well as offering us a couple of child friendly meals too. We were not only the first to arrive at the restaurant but the last to leave and were made to feel welcome throughout the whole meal. We enjoyed three courses of some of the tastiest food I’ve had in a long time. The kitchen staff are extremely talented in their menus. The hosting staff were attentive without being intrusive and all of us would definitely recommend and return again. Loved it! #greatFood #fareham #eatOut"

"Food was okay, and the location in a side road meant it was not fab but it was clean and the staff were very friendly. In response to owners request: The food was 'okay ', above average, standard fare for a small seaside cafe. The staff were the best element of our visit, but to very honest it wasn 't somewhere that would top of my list to visit again. It lacks atmosphere which is what I enjoy in a venue, that 's just my opinion freely given and easily ignored if needed. I wish you well for the future. "I was not too impressed with the order that I had from this chip shop. The cost being the major factor of my low review. I understand that right now in the UK, prices have gone up and therefore cost of takeaways need to go up aswell in order to make some money from their sales. But, the cost of £33.50 for a large portion of chips, 2 bits of fish, and 1 battered sausage in my opinion is simply too expensive. Which also worsened my experience, was for a large portion (which states for 3 people), it could probably do only about 2 people if that. I will say however, the staff were very friendly, and the food itself was actually pretty good. The chips were well cooked, as was the fish. Regardless of the good points mentioned, I do not currently recommend this fish and chip shop due to the cost and portion sizes. If they were to increase the portion size, and reduce the cost (even by a slight amount), my review would change."

"a surprising sound in a rural environment, lots of parking. when looking for an unusual culinary experience rodizio offers a traditional Brazilian at table carvery .2 menu options ca. £23-£25 per head all they can stuff in their mouth. veggie is about £18 endless salatbar had really interesting salads, like black rice and soybeans, all fresh and very tasty! Although I am veggie, the meat also looked very good, not fat, well cooked, fresh .. boiled ananas for dessert ... cocktails, beer, child choice simply very pleasant and really nice friendly staff definitely recommend especially for party. they made extra effort with candles for my friends cake"

"we have ordered to collect and the service was amazing. pizza was finished within 22 minutes. that was the best pizza we had from anywhere. no dreadful fat like dominos etc. and really authentic. the basic was so tasty, the correct amount of sauce and mozzarella. no ceddar in itself, really great choice of the torf. my man and I had a different pizza and we both loved it! also felt not terrible after that, but as if we were eating something really fresh instead of filling food. will come back in any case. the restaurant is really cooled and the staff is really friendly. amazing!"

"I visited Villa Romana for a meal with my boyfriend, having lived in Fareham for a couple of years, but never having eaten there before. The interior is lovely bare brick walls, low lighting, dark wood beams and a large bar as you go in.Service was very good friendly, prompt and helpful and the menu had a good balance between pasta dishes and also meat and fish main courses. The standard of food was very good both my starter (aubergine rolls with smoked cheese and mushroom) and my main (pasta with chicken, mushroom and asparagus) were delicious and with very generous servings I couldn't finish mine which is unusual.Unfortunately however, I found hairs (definitely not mine) in my main course which was rather off putting. I'm not overly fussy and tried not to let it dampen an otherwise lovely meal. I mentioned it to the waiter and he was very apologetic. However, there was no offer of a discount of free drink.I originally thought I'd go back, but unfortunately the memory of the hair has ruined it for me."

"We were regular customers over a period of 7 years but food quality started to become quite hit and miss. However the service has always been excellent. We decided to give it another try on Tuesday Pie mash) night but wished we hadn’t bothered! We decided to try a couple of small starters, my husband ordered calamari and I opted for mini Camembert/ chutney. These starters were not reflective of the price £7.25 each) as when they arrived there was only 3 calamari rings and the Cheese was hard to find under the herb crust which was not mentioned on the menu. There was more chutney and one slice of baguette which tasted stale. The waitress was very professional and acknowledged our issue and agreed to take off our bill. Unfortunately things didn’t get much better as When my chicken mushroom pie arrived which did look delicious turned out to be undercooked. The pie was nice and brown on top but raw underneath which was a real shame. The chicken also looked processed with very little taste. The mash and gravy was very tasty and the fish pie my husband had was also very good. I know hospitality currently has lots of obstacles due to increased costs but food quality is a must if they want returning customers. Again the service was excellent and Jess our waitress dealt with our issues promptly and this was reflected in our final bill."

"My first visit to this restaurant was for a birthday celebration lunch. When we arrived for our 1pm booking, the restaurant was very busy and there was no one available to assist us with our reservation. After finally getting the attention of a server, we were directed to table 11 in the corner without being shown to our table. We found our table, which was a picnic bench in the marquee covered in crumbs and a drink can. Despite there being plenty of empty, dirty tables that had not been cleared, we were told that there were no other tables available with chairs. After expressing my disappointment with the cleanliness of the table and bench, the server checked again and found a table upstairs for us. We were the only ones upstairs for the majority of our meal, with the staff member even eating his lunch in the same area. We had to ask where to order from, as well as for cutlery and napkins because the drawer was empty. Despite these issues, the food was delicious. However, the lack of cleanliness and hospitality really let the restaurant down."
"Have visited this business a few times. Our local. The landlady has obviously had a run in with people in their twenties, we went there as a family of four for the 1st time (parents and two sons). She allowed them to stay for that time only, however she wasn’t at all welcoming or kindly, the lady abruptly spoke to them in an inappropriate manner, pointing her finger in our son’s face. They avoid the place now, we certainly didn’t want to stick around, she ruined our enjoyment. We gave her the benefit of the doubt as parents, plus our men like the ‘Flower Pot Ales’ We went before the Christmas period 2023, it was heaving, myself and sister along with husbands. We had a glass of red wine each, our first beverage of the night. Well, both glasses, Merlot Malbec were past its date, awful taste of vinegar! The women behind the bar serving must have thought we wouldn’t notice the taste. Poor business ethics. Upsetting. This all boils down to the landlady and her management. They must have known the bottles were dodgy."

"I am constantly visiting The Garden Shed and realised I hadn’t reviewed this wonderful place! My sister introduced me to this gem not long after it had opened and I instantly loved the decor and the friendly atmosphere. I now always bring my children up for lunch here when in town, and I also recommend it to all my local friends! The food is delicious and they always take note of anything you don’t like on your plate (ie: no dressing on your salad! It is a lovely place just to come and sit and watch the world go by.....and the cakes always look so enticing"

"We ordered a takeaway from here and considering we spent £50, we barely received a full plate of food between the two of us. They missed an item off of our order, which was then delivered after we had finished our meal. For the price that you pay for meals as a takeaway, it certainly was a waste. The portion sizes are poor, and the mixed platters appetiser for two was very small considering it was £20. Two small chicken skewers and the tempura prawns were minuscule. If you want a nice Thai meal, don’t go here. You’ll be left hungry, out of pocket and disappointed."

"I had a positive experience with the food and coffee at this cafe, however, I was surprised when they charged me an extra 50p for using a debit card on a bill under £10. I was unaware that companies were permitted to do this, and there was no notice about the charge displayed. Since I often dine alone and my bill may fall below £10, I will not be returning to this establishment, despite the quality of the food and drinks."

"First time I've used B&B's, and I've not been disappointed. I decided to swing by on my way to work, to have a Burrito for my lunch, at work (over in Portsmouth) The Burrito I had was the chicken fajita. It was RAMMED full of food, and well packed. It had been double wrapped too, ready for an extended journey! When I got to finally eat it 2 hours later it was still lovely and warm. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and would definitely recommend this place. The property itself is very clean and tidy, with friendly and helpful staff. Great value and all ingredients are very clearly fresh. I'll be visiting again, and likely to make it a Friday lunch treat when this period of my shift comes around again!"

"This was our first time at an Ask restaurant and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The staff were exceptionally friendly, polite, and attentive. The service was relatively quick, but not rushed, and the food was absolutely delicious. The children's meal option was great, offering 3 courses and a babychino for just under £7, while the adult main menu was very reasonably priced. As a family of 3 (2 adults, 1 child), we enjoyed a 3-course meal for nearly £60. We would definitely return if in the area and will keep an eye out for other Ask restaurants in different locations."

"It has always been a treat to have lunch at The Red Lion, but I notice corners are being cut butter is not in little pots any more with the red lion logo on top. My artichoke soup was delicious and could not be faulted imaginative with olives and parmesan cheese; the chicken liver parfait was pleasant but a bit cloying and came with a large slab of toasted brioche just the one and two thinner piece would have been more delicate, plus there was a lack of sweet jelly or even a spring of watercress. They are good, but if they believe in themselves much more, they will become unbearable. I will go bak but I hope to see an improvement in attitude."

"My husband, who grew up in the area, had a reunion with a high school friend who also married an American. After visiting the abbey across the street earlier that day, we were surprised when they suggested meeting up at this restaurant in the evening. I have always enjoyed the food in the UK, and this place did not disappoint. I was thrilled to see braised pork belly on the menu, which was cooked perfectly and served in a generous portion. I had no problem with the black pudding, as it reminded me of a Filipino dish. The apple fritter, which I initially mistook for an onion ring, was a nice touch. For dessert, I had the warm, sticky ginger toffee pudding, which was a perfect ending to the meal. Our friends were regulars at the restaurant and had a nice table reserved for us in the back. The ambiance was lovely and it was a great place to enjoy a meal with friends. It would also be a nice spot for a romantic dinner for a couple. Keep in mind that parking is limited and tight, so be prepared to walk a few blocks if you can't find a spot right away."
