"Have visited this business a few times. Our local. The landlady has obviously had a run in with people in their twenties, we went there as a family of four for the 1st time (parents and two sons). She allowed them to stay for that time only, however she wasn’t at all welcoming or kindly, the lady abruptly spoke to them in an inappropriate manner, pointing her finger in our son’s face. They avoid the place now, we certainly didn’t want to stick around, she ruined our enjoyment. We gave her the benefit of the doubt as parents, plus our men like the ‘Flower Pot Ales’ We went before the Christmas period 2023, it was heaving, myself and sister along with husbands. We had a glass of red wine each, our first beverage of the night. Well, both glasses, Merlot Malbec were past its date, awful taste of vinegar! The women behind the bar serving must have thought we wouldn’t notice the taste. Poor business ethics. Upsetting. This all boils down to the landlady and her management. They must have known the bottles were dodgy."

I had a wonderful evening with friends at this restaurant. The staff was exceptional and the food was fantastic. The mac and cheese was absolutely delicious and the prices were very reasonable.

The food was very good overall, but unfortunately, the apple pie was a disappointment. The individual pies seemed to have been reheated in the microwave, resulting in a stodgy pastry that was inedible. It was a letdown.

We had a great Sunday lunch with friends at this restaurant. The dining area had a lovely open fire and the service was very attentive. The food and drinks were served promptly. The Sunday Roast and desserts were both delicious. View menu

Went on a Wednesday, which is pie night. The options are plentiful, with diets considered. Had steak and ale chicken and leek with chips and pies both were brilliant. Price is very reasonable and atmosphere staff great. Looking forward to my next visit!

We visited with two friends for lunch on a Friday. The dining area is very attractive, woth oak beams, and starry lights. I ordered a Seafood Medley, with salmon, jumbo prawns, crayfish, peeled prawns, new potatoes and salad. It was very enjoyable, with all the salad crisp and fresh £16.99. My wife and a friend both enjoyed the crab cakes; another had the 6oz steak, served as requested, with fries, tomotoes and a good pepper sauce. The americano coffees were as good as I have tasted for a while. The service was efficient and friendly.

"Well, I like reviewing and have to say having visited Mother Kelly 's many times since 2008 last night was 'poor ', now.... Maybe it was because we booked for 19:30 after watching a film at the nearby Port Solent, which had plenty of options to dine, but we thought no Mother Kelly 's on way home be just dandy. WRONG... Arrived bang in 19:30 place was ghost town with 3 other tables occupied, two eating one waiting for service, we entered were shown a table in the window (table 4) and chose our food from the menus, (my partner wanted scampi as usual, but a sign on the counter said Sorry NO scampi) do she chose Steak and Ale Pie, after about 10 minutes the solitary waitress came to our table to take our order on a tablet... We ordered asking for the Pie... to be told NO Pies left, So rethink, ahh Fish bites then abd a large Cod and trimmings, thank you, by this time Just us and one other table of patrons remained.... After about 10-15 minutes the food arrived, the fish bites well batter bites with fish is more apt a discription, my fish was okay, but was triple batter.... Obviously end if night for them, nothing in booking to say service stops at 8pm I had the choice of many later times when I booked on The Fork.... Disappointed and much like the Country you actually come to expect the disappointment received..... I have other bookings over the next Month with The Fork.. hopefully those restaurants are better stocked and the food is 'nicer '.... I really hate giving poor reviews but you put your head aboveground and you 'll possibly get shot"
