"Slight delay in reviewing my evening but I seriously had no idea how to tackle it. This Grade II listed building and its surroundings are breathtakingly beautiful and the banquet room where two rosette Le Dragon Rouge restaurant is together with well thought out menu gives you an instant feeling of an extraordinary culinary experience about to happen. But unfortunately that’s not what happens next…. Firstly I’m not even sure if I have booked myself into Le Dragon Rouge, are there perhaps two different restaurants at the Chateau that I was not told about? Would definitely explain why my experience was so different from everything I read about it. Starters: Wild mushroom on toast, poached egg burnt bread/tasteless mushroom/badly poached egg Crevette Crispy Squid Chowder pretty much a bowl of sweet double cream with no seafood flavour Mains: Pan fried haddock, broccoli, peas, minted new potatoes, chive butter sauce first dish with a bit of a flavour, shame all I could taste was salt on a smallest fillet of haddock possibly found in the Irish Sea Cockle Smoked Mackerel baked paella, Laverbread butter, Parmesan chives sounded exciting on paper, ended up being a plate of lacking flavour rice Dessert: Coconut Lychee Cheesecake a bowl of runny mascarpone cheese with biscuit crumbles and few strawberries on top. Disappointment of the year! I really wish I could be more positive about my dining experience Chateau Rhianfa, especially that I’ve booked it as my birthday treat (absolutely no recognition from the restaurant staff) but unfortunately if you’re looking for fine dining please look elsewhere."

"This was our first visit since lockdown, having eaten there on many previous occasions and have always enjoyed reasonably priced, home cooked food. However, the first thing we noticed was the changes to the dishes on the menu and how expensive the meals had become. A small 330ml bottle of Diet Coke was £2.30! We ordered our food via mobile phone, which we thought was a great idea. When our drinks arrived, however, our waitress left them on an adjacent table, which meant that we had to get up from our table to get them! See attached photo. My husband 's choice of food was already out of stock, despite it being 11:50! So he was offered an alternative, which was a little more expensive, but we were not charged the difference. When my food arrived, I was surprised by the portion size. I had ordered the quiche platter, which was supposed to come with garlic rosemary roasted potatoes, salad coleslaw. I think I had a teaspoon of coleslaw and the 'roasted potatoes ' were actually crushed new potatoes, so not what I was expecting and was looking forward to. All in all, though we felt safe in the restaurant with the social distancing precautions in place, we were very disappointed with our food. It was expensive and the portions were a lot smaller than normal. We will not be returning for food again. Enhance this page Upload photos!
