"I have visited Healds Restaurant regularly and it is usually very good. We booked the Christmas meal as soon as the menu was released and at £95 per person, we expected much better. Unfortunately, we were placed in the function room which was overly bright and lacked any atmosphere. Our table had to be constantly moved to accommodate others passing through. The service was subpar - no one asked us what we wanted to drink so we had to go to the bar ourselves. They forgot to bring out crackers and only did so halfway through the meal. The liver parfait starter came with only two small pieces of brioche which was not enough. The turkey dish had a tiny portion of mashed potatoes hidden underneath, along with one pig in blanket, a small ball of stuffing, and some unidentified pulled meat. The vegetables and potatoes were served on the side in minuscule portions - only 3 green beans, 2 sprouts, a few slices of carrot, one burnt roast potato, and 2 small boiled potatoes. There were no parsnips, which are typically included on a Christmas roast. No one checked on us to see if everything was okay, and there was no staff present to ask for anything. We wanted coffee after our meal but were not asked, so we ended up leaving without it. Overall, it was a disappointing experience and we will not be returning for Christmas again. I would not recommend this restaurant for the price we paid. They really need to improve their service to attract repeat customers during the holiday season."
