"We had reserved a table for 5 at 6 pm. I arrived first and was told to pick any table. I sat down and waited for my guests who were a bit delayed. Ten minutes later I was finally approached by the waiter. I wanted to order my drink but she just wanted to know how many guests would join me. I answered and she disappeared without taking my order. A few minutes later another waiter arrived. Again not to take my order but only to ask me to move to a different table. I did and waited again as the waiting staff moved through the restaurant expertly ignoring the guests. Next another waiter came rushing to the table. She hastily placed the plate of complementary peanuts and rolls on the table and turned around before I could say anything. By this time it was 25 past six and I had still not been asked if I wanted a drink. My guests arrived and finally someone took our drinks and food order. When the food arrived my son got the wrong dish. He told her, she took the plate away and one minute later another waitress arrived with the same plate. Again we said this was not what we ordered. She looked at the plate and said: it's almost the same, can't you take this one? As it is his 14th birthday and he didn't want to wait whilst everyone ate he accepted the plate.I had the hamburger and fries. The hamburger was a cheap frozen burger but dry as shoe soles. The fries were brown and totally overcooked (or cooked twice). the only enjoyable thing about the experience was the company. We had fun. When we finished we again struggled to get attention from the waiting staff. She asked if we had enjoyed our meal and I said: well actually no (I had had left half of it) she looked and said: oh and then proceeded to clear the table as if I had said nothing. I was dumbfounded. Stunned at so much disinterest and such horrible service. Only outside did I notice that the meal my son never ordered but was given was far more expensive than his original order and it had been charged in full.I am normally not afraid to speak out but in the face of such rudeness and disinterest I was lost for words. Where do you start? Do I really have to point out that the chips should not be dark brown? Is it not logical that I want to be asked if I want a drink when I arrive? Is it not logical that it feels uncomfortable to be ignored for 20 minutes? Do I need to explain such basics of customer service? The place looks great but is overpriced and not at all good experience."

"Have walked past this particular establishment a number of times with the full intention to try it one day. It is very well situated in the Altstadt of Leer, directly next to the Rathaus, and superficially at least, it appears to be a well conceived specialist seafood restaurant.Well, I have now visited it, and yes, it is a specialist seafood restaurant. On my visit however (around 8.30pm on a Friday night), it was almost empty - and I think I know why.The meal I had "Kabeljaufilet mit Bratkartoffeln" (Cod filet with roasted potatoes) was preceded by what can only be described as a cabbage stalk off-cut salad in a store-bought 'French' dressing. It was unpleasant, chewy and had an odd after-flavour. The fish dish itself also had a few unpleasant surprises, most notably a beige sour tasting parsley sauce and burnt potatoes. I have to admit that the cold langustine that garnishes the plate (and is apparently served with all fish dishes) was somewhat unappealing to me as well - however this could be down to personal preference. The fish itself was of a hearty size, but the skin had only been crisped up in places, and in some of these had been rendered sloppy again by the unaccountable sauce. The establishment itself felt a little thrown together. It is of a fair size and could conceivably be of appeal to largish parties. The furniture is aged and feels a little worn out. Bizarrely, the menu seems to be sponsored on each page by local businesses, although it could conceivably be seen as a bit quirky, in reality it felt like they may be struggling a little.I personally do not feel the need to try any other dishes from the menu and as such shall favour other local businesses in the future. If you, having read this, are unsure what to think of it - visit it only if you have enough time on your trip to sample other restaurants, I think you will be disappointed."

"Lunch break on the way home from the Netherlands, I streamed through the pedestrian zone of emptiness with a wonderful sunshine. Since I had only got a coffee at the company visited, a feeling of hunger began. In a side street towards water I found this Italian restaurant, which was on several signs with “11 lunches for 7,50 € each”. I entered and was immediately greeted by a young waiter. “A table for a person?” I nodded, and he asked me to follow him. We crossed the whole restaurant and then came to a sun-filled conservatory where he gave me a table in the background, in the shade. The menu was immediately served and the selection was made quickly, I ordered from the lunch card “Rigatoni overbaked, with ham, cream, Bolognese and cheese” (7,50 € and a small Cola light (0,2l for 2,10 €). The drink was quickly brought by a younger service. In the first run it was a big cola, but it was exchanged for my intervention promptly and with excuses for a small glass. There was a basket with still warm bread and butter, pleasant and tasty. During the next waiting period, various other service forces appeared and supplied the three other occupied tables in the conservatory. After some time I was served a small plate with salad, which I had not expected. A small portion of different leaf salads, each with two slices of cucumber and tomato, with a light vinegar oil dressing, was quite refreshing at the comparatively high outside temperatures that are not at all suitable for the season. After the salad there was a small break again, then another operation brought the run-up mould with the noodles, in which the oil between the noodles was still slightly broiled. I started eating cautiously, the noodle mass was really very hot. As expected, the tube noodles were cooked al dente, the mass of Bolognesesauce, ham and cream tasted well, and the cheese pulled long strings – Mozzarella just on winding up. All in all a flawless lunch table, and that for under ten euros including drink, you really can't complain."
