"A wonderful step back in time! I felt like I was in an Agatha Christie mystery (I did keep an eye out for Miss Marple . A lovely location for a quick lunch. A nook and cranny establishment (complete with a Dame Vera Lynn room! with a perfect outside space (where we sat . D chose the Halloumi Salad (with some tasty sundried tomatoes I ran to type and had the burger (with some delish caramelised onions . Washed down with a lovely glass of Dry White (foolishly didn't get the name of the wine . Service came with a smile the charming uniforms are a lovely touch, adding to atmosphere of a bygone era. Thoroughly recommend."

"It’s hard to tell if The Patch Lewes is more cafe or tap-room. There's a huge refrigerator full of sandwiches to your right as you walk in and the air smells of frying food, so that’s ticked the cafe vibes. The the walls, however, are decorated with thousands of beer tap POS clip art, which collectively tell a colourful tale of the myriad of wonderful liquids from far and wide that have graced the taps here. The Patch Lewes is a humble yet valuable member of Lewes’ cafe and nighttime landscape. In truth the space could be a bit more comfortable for when you want to hunker down for a beery session. But in central Lewes, you just cannot beat The Patch for modern beer variety."

"Sadly this was a disappointment, having arrived slightly early for a table than booked, we were shown to a table in the back corridor with poor lighting and no atmosphere despite the restaurant having plenty of good space left. We were not given the a la carte menu which we wanted and received zero service after 10 minutes so we got up and left."

"we were stable of 4 for lunch and it was lovely. Quite a simple menu with all the old Pub lunch favourites; Having noticed some delicious plates coming from the kitchen with very generous portions, we opted for the Soup and Sub menu which comprised of homemade Soup of the day (broccoli and stilton) and a sub roll . The choice of subs was excellent with 2 or 3 vegetarian options as well as about 6 or 7 mainstream choices, The birthday girl chose Fish gluons with tartare sauce and lettuce, the rest of us could not resist the Buffalo chicken tenders with shredded lettuce and blue cheese dressing. All of us were impressed with the size of the subs which were crammed full of the fillings. The soup was fabulous delicately flavoured with stilton and fresh with broccoli. No room for dessert, in fact 2 of us were offered doggy-bags to take home the half of the sub we couldn 't finish. Reasonably priced ales from local Brewers."

"The building is cosy and comfortable and the staff are welcoming and efficient, but the food. Oh dear! I hope the chef was having a day off before Christmas and it was not the normal standard. I had the liver and the other meal was the Sussex Smokie. The liver was a big lump of undercooked pig’s liver with lumpy mashed potatoes. It was not pleasant The Smokie consisted of 3 fingers of fish in a watery sauce. It was not pleasant. This used to be a favourite pub of mine, but I will wait before I try it again"

"My family and I went to Padella D'oro Restaurant on Saturday evening and we were very impressed with the food, service, and atmosphere. It's a hidden gem tucked away from the main road with convenient parking available. The service was top-notch and the food was delicious. The prices were affordable and the portion sizes were generous. It's rare to find a well-cooked main dish for under twelve pounds. Special thanks to the young lady who attended to us and provided excellent service. I highly recommend this restaurant."

"I visited here yesterday evening to have a meal with my family. The welcome was very pleasant however from there it went downhill. The drinks were fine however the food was quite tasteless. We had starter’s of Leek Potato soup, which although hot, was quite bland, we also had the Chicken Liver Pate, although the portion size was good, again this was very bland, also the bread which came with it was very ordinary. The other two starters were Garlic Bread… which were just that; Garlic Bread. For main course we had the Salmon, which you really had to try hard to find any positives about, and three lots of Fish Chunky Chips, all of which were visibly over cooked, the batter was nearly brown, and the fish was quite tough! The chips were ok, mushy peas were just mushy and tartar sauce was rather solid! Also where we sat was rather drafty. We did not order a desert or coffee as we did not want to prolong the agony. One positive; the atmosphere was pleasant. Clearly the food is just bought in and heated through, I can’t imagine than any of it was cooked or made fresh. I won’t be going back."

"My family and I would like to say a huge heartfelt Thankyou to the management and their excellent team, at The **** Inn,Wivelsfield Green.We had booked our Christmas Dinner there and arrived on a cold,wet and windy Sunday lunchtime but as soon as we entered this local country inn our spirits were lifted by the warmth of the welcome we received.The ages in our party ranged from 93 to 7 years old so could have proved a challenge for the staff but they all, experienced and novices,treated us with respect,friendliness and professionalism. We were shown to our beautifully ‘dressed’table and our drink orders were taken immediately.Us lads,all being real ale drinkers,in unison announced the Harvey’s best and old were both in peak condition.We all enjoyed 3 courses of plentiful,well cooked and presented food, all served with a smile from the young waitresses. Drinks were served throughout the meal without anyone having a empty glass for long. We had our table for 3 hours and never felt under pressure to vacate it,we even had time for an impromptu fun Christmas quiz between courses. We finished our afternoon with yet another drink,by the roaring log fire,in the public bar.What a perfect way to end a wonderful family Christmas meal. Top marks from us all for the team at the **** Inn and Thankyou all so very,very much."

"This is by far the best and most authentic Thai food I have experienced in the UK! My wife is half Thai and has lived there and even she was amazed at some of the dishes available here that we haven't found anywhere else except Thailand itself. Its a BYOB, which we didn't mind at all. There is a corkage fee but it wasn't over the top by any means. The staff were lovely and were very quick to accommodate anything we asked for, including things like providing small bowls so we could share a larger soup like a starter and other random requests. If you are a fan of Asian food or especially Thai food and can get over to this restaurant I cannot recommend it enough! The venue is small, however, so it's best to book in advance as there's no guarantee you could get a table otherwise."

"Wow. The lack of speed and organization at this restaurant was unbelievable. Although the vegan burger and beer were tasty, the frustration of slow service outweighed the positives. We ordered two burgers and fries, but it took a long time to even be acknowledged. The person behind me eventually gave up and left. The burgers arrived late and were cold by the time they were served. When I asked about my loaded fries, the server pulled out a bag of frozen chips and poured them into a tray. I was so disappointed with the service that I asked for a refund and declined the fries. The staff seemed unaware of the situation and took orders and made drinks at a very slow pace. This restaurant's service was truly awful, and I can't imagine how they would handle a larger crowd. It was a poor experience overall."

"I haven’t written a Tripadvisor review for quite sometime and I thought long and hard before writing this one. We have passed this place quite a lot of times but as we have a favourite tea room/cafe which we like to support we had never called in. We popped in for a cheese scone and a cup of tea last week and sat outside in what is effectively a car park. As soon as the scone arrived we knew it was bad news. If something doesn’t look like a scone, doesn’t have the consistency of a scone and doesn’t taste like a scone then it’s not a scone. I’m not quite sure what we had, I think it was a brioche bun with a bit of cheese on top. It was faintly sweet and quite horrible. When I queried it the waitress simply said ‘what is a scone then? My wife’s tea was very weak, the loose tea leaves having been enclosed in a metal wire sphere which was left in the pot. The only flavour was of metal, the tea flavour can’t escape from the metal cage!! To add insult to injury to ‘scones’ were priced at £4.50 each so two teas and two scones was £14, I felt completely ripped off. £4.50 for a scone is a London west end price. Mark Cross garden centre £2.50, Whites nursery Five ashes, £3 and so on. How on earth can you justify £4.50 for a ‘scone? They had better be careful, Stavertons garden centre is about to open a new cafe and its only a few minutes from Ringmer, I know where I’ll be going in future."

"My friend and I had brunch here yesterday. The weather outside was appalling, but the welcome was bright and sunny. They were busy but had one table free. Service was cheerful and, even though they were very busy, our food and drinks were served quickly. The waitress was very friendly and the food was hot and delicious. Gluten free was not a problem, the coffee was very good and the prices very reasonable. I could not fault this place, and will definitely come here next time I am in Seaford. Thank you."

"We had relatives visiting from The States who after a pleasant day in Lewes decided they wanted to goto a country pub for dinner. WE suggested a few in the area some didn't answer the phone others were showing full booked online until a lot later that evening. The Rainbow fitted the bill with seemingly good reviews. Having had experience in the past, some good and some not so good and knowing of its reputation over the years, we were pleased to see it all looked positive when we visited. We phoned up about 5.30pm prior to arriving for dinner about 6pm on a Saturday. We were told just turn up as there was space for our party of five there was no need to prebook. We arrived and were greeted by a lovely young lady who explained we could sit in the Dining Room table service or garden order from the bar. It was a hot day, so we elected to sit in the garden. We were told once we noted the specials board that several dishes were not available and some of the main menu had sold out also. We were surprised to find the Dining room sparsely occupied and the garden was similar. We picked a nice spot under a gazebo on a terrace area with seating rather than picnic benches. once seated I noted that the table had drinks spilt on then and had not been cleaned. The our server came back to us to tell us what was not available. there was such an exhaustive list at least half the menu and specials. We suggested it would be easier to tell us what was available. With this done she duly left, so we could make our choice. The people on the adjoining table introduced themselves as the owner/manager and apologised for the lack of food as it had been rather a busy afternoon. We reluctantly chose what was left, which wasn't really what we wanted. Then one of our party stated it was unpleasant where we were sitting as the adjoining table were smoking and another smoker had sat close by. He was not keen to eat while someone was smoking near him so he suggested the Dining Room. By this time with the lack of food available and other issues we left to find another venue. It was a shame as it all looked pleasant and inviting the people were friendly, with our rerlatives wanting to experience an English country pub this had evapourated because of the lack of food and the other issues. I would hope this was just a hiccup, but to run out so early on a Saturday evening of most of their menu items it seemed like a lack of foresite. The weather had been good and even if it was bad they would have struggled to fill the inside seating with the amount of people in the pub. It felt like a bit of poor management on their part . We will keep an eye on how things go and may return without relatives in the future."

"What a fabulous Sunday lunch today! Very large portions excellent cooked! My husband had the Nut Roast and I had the Roast Chicken. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We asked for extra gravy and within a few minutes it was served! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a smile and shown to our table by the lovely Rosie. Service was excellent but unobtrusive. The whole atmosphere was just perfect! This is how the service industry should be. Excellent food, wonderful staff and lovely surroundings. Well done Rosie, Abby and all the staff. We will be back and certainly recommend!"

"After exploring Lewes Castle, we were feeling hungry so we strolled down the high street and stumbled upon the John Harvey Tavern. Tucked away on a side street, it was a pleasant surprise to discover. My husband was eager to sample some of the Harvey beers, so this was an ideal choice for him. We opted for sandwiches - a pork sausage sandwich for him and a falafel and halloumi sandwich for me. Both sandwiches were sizable and came with a generous portion of chips. The meal was excellent value for the price!"

"We recently dined at Ollivers after not visiting for some time. The atmosphere was just as warm and friendly as we remembered. "I phoned an order through and was told it would table 45 minutes. The man on the phone was friendly. It was delivered exactly 45 minutes later and was left on my doorstep to adhere to social distancing rules. I ordered a chicken tikka masala, a lamb korma, two pilau rice and a cheese naan. I was also given a complimentary onion salad. The food was scorching hot when it arrived. All the tubs were filled up to the top and had lots of chicken/lamb in them. The curries themselves were wonderful. Each one that I ordered had loads of flavourful sauce and the meat as well was really nice. The chicken was grilled extremely well and the lamb was super tender and soft. The tikka masala wasn’t artificially red which was reassuring to see and it still tasted like the signature tikka masala flavour. The naan was also great, loved the cheese. I highly recommend Cafe Ganges. Their food is consistently great. The prices are reasonable and they deliver quickly. What more could you want?"
