"The building is cosy and comfortable and the staff are welcoming and efficient, but the food. Oh dear! I hope the chef was having a day off before Christmas and it was not the normal standard. I had the liver and the other meal was the Sussex Smokie. The liver was a big lump of undercooked pig’s liver with lumpy mashed potatoes. It was not pleasant The Smokie consisted of 3 fingers of fish in a watery sauce. It was not pleasant. This used to be a favourite pub of mine, but I will wait before I try it again"

Lovely atmosphere, especially on a cold winter evening by the open fire! Staff are pleasant, polite, and attentive without being obtrusive. Great menu, and food is exceptionally good, well cooked and seasoned, and adequate portion size. We finished stuffed! Very enjoyable, relaxing evening. Thank you.

This pub is fantastic! They offer a great variety of food that was delicious when it arrived. The staff was attentive and provided excellent service. We had a wonderful lunch and are already planning to return. There is plenty of parking available, but I would recommend making a reservation in advance.

Wanted to enjoy the late summer sunshine so popped out for an impromptu lunch, picked The **** as it had such good reviews, I can understand why! Our starters (Stilton Mushrooms Garlic Prawns) were really delicious, and the mains were great as well. Decent value for the quality and size of portions. Only minor niggle is that my wife asked for chunky chips with her burger which was agreed but not implemented. Otherwise a great meal View menu

We visited as a party of 12. The roasts came out really quickly. The lamb was really nice quality and tender. There were vegetarian and gluten free options for the roasts as well. Even separate gluten free gravy. The pub had it's radiators on which was nice. Always a bonus when it's warm! I had the Mexican beef burger which was delicious. There was loads of guacamole in it. The chips were also fried to perfection. The **** is dog friendly as well if you sit in a certain area.

We had a wonderful time at The **** Inn. This was our second visit and we were not let down, although we were slightly disappointed that their Christmas decorations were not fully set up. The menu offered a wide variety of options and the food was presented beautifully on warm plates. The portions were generous and the dessert selection was unique. Every dish was delicious and the staff were courteous and attentive. In summary, it was a fantastic evening and a great value for the price.
