"A colleague and I were looking for Italian food and our hotel recommended Costa Smeralda. It's a short walk from the city center on a relatively quiet street. The menu was very interesting with a huge variety of offerings. The taste was authentic Italian influenced...with a flair of Sardinia. It was hard to believe I was in Mannheim Germany eating this delicious Italian food. Don't be afraid to ask for something not on the chalkboard menu. They are extremely accommodating to your wishes. I highly recommend giving this place a try next time you visit Mannheim."

"Was here for a dinner. Decor is pretty good, nice and dark and dimly lit enough to up the lux factor. Our appetizer was also ok. However, the main dish we ordered were pretty average for what it is, and the fries are definitely just standard frozen fries that they reheated. My main dish (I forgot what it was called) was so salty I couldn't finish it. Someone was smoking indoors in the entrance stairway. 7 euros for a bottle of water and 18 euros for frozen fries and salty meatballs. Overall meh experience. Would not be back again."

"For us the best sushi bar in Mannheim and if you look around like this, then seemingly not only for us, because here is always full, even if other sushibars are rather empty. The quality is great, the prices are rather high. The ambience is beautiful, especially the squares on the window are beautiful, but also sitting at the bar and watching the flashing fingers of the sushi chefs is fun. The lunch menu also includes beautiful sushi collections for smaller prices. "Wir waren zum St. Patricks Day dort. Eintritt 5 EUR. Hatte uns vorher keiner gesagt (auch nicht am Telefon), aber na ja. Wir waren um 18:30 Uhr dort. Musik begann um 21:10 Uhr. Ok. Auch das ist nicht sooo schlimm. Hätte man aber auch sagen können. Tat man aber auch nicht. Bedienung war freundlich. Kleine Karte mit Pub-Food. Was kam war wirklich lecker. Preis war auch angemessen. Getränkeauswahl ist groß. Publikum gemischt, von Jung bis älter und insgesamt sehr nette Atmosphäre. Größtes Manko: Der Raum war nicht beheizt. Und das bei kalten -2 Grad Außentemperaturen. Das ist ein absolutes NO GO. Schon gar nicht wenn man auch noch Eintritt verlangt. Im Eingangsbereich ist noch nicht mal ein Vorhang angebracht so dass bei jedem der ein- und ausgeht ein kalter Luftschwall reindrängt und ein Drittel des Lokals auskühlt. Dort saßen oder standen dann die Leute in ihren Jacken rum, dem Betreiber müsste das doch eigentlich auffallen !!?! Fazit: Im Sommer vielleicht ganz nett aber uns sieht diese Lokalität in den Wintermonaten nicht mehr."

"As a professional long-term, we sometimes rely on offers or vouchers, but during yesterday's visit we already knew in advance that we did not have to deal with any great experiments, solid Greek home cooking: just... My girlfriend and I visit the restaurant city of Thessaloniki one or two times a year. The Thessaloniki is not a great Greek that can absorb it with the heavyweights e.g. Olympia in Landau or Acropolis in Worms. We know that classic Greek food is also a dessert on the house. Beforehand we chose the grilled Peperoni (5.50 , with roasted white bread. The Peperoni had a lot of grill marks and were beautifully dressed in garlic and vinegar. As an intermediate step we served the pre-filled side salad. I'm glad there's no German salad here. Crat salad, yellow salad and beans. Unfortunately, the leaves of lettuce consisted uniformly of cheap iceberg salad, yet the salad was fine. In the meantime, we'll look around at the place. Covered tables with orange tablecloths. Typical Greek sculptures, there are only the Hellas flags and a signed Piraeus Wimpel by Altmeister Rivaldo. The Yannis Platte (15,80) chose as the main course. I had the Thessaloniki plate (15,20 . A colleague chose the devil spear (12.80 extra sharp. His girlfriend preferred to order grilled turkey with Metaxasauce (11,60). All four dishes were tasty. At my and my girlfriend's plate, the pig steaks fell a bit, they were dry. The Rumpsteaks and on my plate the spear were very good. Also the Gyros. The Bernaise sauce has reminded of finished sauce, it always tastes the same, in general the meat pieces are a little too long on the grill. During the meal we were served 4 room-warm standard Ouzos. Then there was a wonderful chocolate yeast cake soaked in honey, which was very good. The restaurant has been represented in the Schlemmerblock for years, the drinks prices are cheap. Hefebier (King Ludwig 0.5 for 2.80 are suspected for Mannheim city prices record. Conclusion: We have paid with 2x slinger block per nose 12,50 (total of 50 euros, which is ok, one takes the kitchen performance, portion size and quality of food in relation."

"AMBIENTE:Das "Drei Eichen" weist ein schlichtes, aber gepflegtes Ambiente auf. Man fühlt sich dort "in der Kneipe um die Ecke" durchaus wohl: klein, aber fein. Direkt nebenan ist noch eine abgelebte Raucherkneipe, die wohl (irgendwie) dazu gehört - muss man wenigstens nicht frieren. SPEISEN UND GETRÄNKE:Die Speisekarte weist alles auf, was man bei einem ordentlichen Griechen erwartet: die bekannten Vorspeisen und eine reichhaltige Auswahl an Fleischgerichten und Kombiplatten. Wir hatten Lendenspieß und einen gemischten Teller mit Steaks, Spieß und Hackfleischröllchen - dazu Pommes und Salat. Geschmacklich war es eine durchaus solide Leistung: das Fleisch war weder totgebraten, noch triefte es - wie man es sonst gerne beim Griechen kennt - vor Öl. Gerade mit Blick auf die Preise, die ich als angemessen betrachte (ca. 13,- EUR) ein Grund, das "Drei Eichen" nochmals zu besuchen.SERVICE :Dumm nur, dass man sich mit einer Underperformance im Service vieles zunichte machen kann... als wir eintraten, wurde uns von einem äußerst mürrischen Kellner ein kleiner 2er-Tisch neben der Theke angeboten, der gleich darauf wieder davonrannte - Kundenorientierung geht anders.Daher fragten wir die Kollegin hinter der Theke, ob wir denn auch einen der anderen freien Tische nehmen dürften, was positiv beschieden wurde. Diese Servicekraft muss an der Stelle ausdrücklich gelobt werden - auch im weiteren Verlauf: sehr freundlich und aufmerksam.Als unser erster Kellner jedoch kurze Zeit später wieder auftauchte, wurden wir mit bösen Blicken bestraft. Wie konnten wir denn auch unverschämterweise umziehen!? Die alte Tischdecke wurde schlicht vor unserer Nase heruntergerissen und die neue hingeknallt. Mittlerweile genervt von seiner Laune fragten wir freundlich, ob alles in Ordnung und was ihm denn über die Leber gelaufen sei. Darauf er mehrfach:"Ich nix verstehen!" Naja... so kann man ein Gespräch dann auch unterbinden. Gottlob (zumindest für ihn) fand er kurze Zeit darauf am Nachbartisch seine Sprachkenntnisse wieder - in der gleichen bescheidenen Laune. Leute... wenn Service nicht Euer Ding ist, macht doch was anderes! Leider zog sich das mit dem Service dann ein Stück weit so durch: am Nachbartisch saß eine Clique von 10 Leuten. Die bekamen dann unsere Teller mit aufgetragen, was nach guten 5min auffiel. Kurzum wurden die Teller zu uns gewechselt - jetzt nur noch lauwarm und auch an sich ein NoGo: keine Ahnung, ob da schon einer die Finger dran hatte. Der eine Pommesteller sah jedenfalls schon ein wenig geleert aus. Aber ehrlich: es war schon spät, wir hatten Hunger und echt keine Lust mehr auf Diskussion.GESAMTBILD:Fast volle Punktzahl in puncto Auswahl, Geschmack und Preis - dafür aber ein starker Leistungsabfall im Service. Sehr schade - da geht mehr!"

Akropolis

"Sehr schön, dass es in einem griechischen Restaurant nicht so aussieht wie bei den typischen Griechen - keine Akropolis auf die Wand gemalt, keine griechischen Ornamente etc., sondern ein sehr angenehmes Ambiente, mit einem Deckengemälde das an die kurfürstliche Zeit erinnert.Die Sardellen hätten etwas kleiner sein können, denn dann schmecken sie leckerer. Unser Gyros war ein Pfannengyros. Das ist leider nicht so geschmackvoll wie das Gyros vom Spies.Wir hätten allerdings nachfragen müssen was "Gyros nach Art des Hauses" bedeutend, somit unser Fehler.Das Restaurant war gut besucht. Eine Reservierung ist sinnvoll.In meiner Bewertung habe ich zwischen "befriedigend" und "sehr gut" geschwankt. Letztlich war der freundliche Service ausschlaggebend."

For all who think that prices are very desalinated I don't agree, quality has its price if someone just wants to be rich, is right next pizza snack or dinerstube. "Went to House of India for a birthday celebration and could not be more disappointed from the service offered and the atmosphere in the restaurant. The staff were rude and it felt as if they were the guests that need to be served, absolutely no...attention was given to our table and when we asked for anything, was as if we were not in our right. The cherry on top was when they asked us to pay for each plate we use because we brought a cake with us. Considering that every single one of us had a main dish and a drink (and the prices are not the cheapest), charging an euro extra for a plate was just ridiculous. When I spoke with the waiter, he said that this is completely normal and he simply walked away. Further, the restaurant is too dirty, needs a proper cleaning, there was dust around the windows and the chairs have not been cleaned for months. Anyway, we paid for the extra dishes brought to the table and left. Would not even step in any of the chains they got, nor would I recommend it to anyone."

"Spent a day walking around Mannheim and got hungry for Mexican food. Noticed a star rating and gave it a shot. Ordered a Botana Sampler (chips and sides: salsa, bean dip, queso, and guacamole) and while not on all fronts (guac needed...some salt), it was a hit for the family. They have menus in German and English upon request, and their daily special for Saturday is off various menu items from to so that was nice. Had an ice cold Pacífico, wife had a margarita on the rocks, my oldest had a "mock-tail" Piña Colada, and the youngest had a grapefruit lemonade with zero complaints across the board. For main courses, the youngest took advantage of the Quesadilla para los chicos (all items under and was satisfied. I ordered the Tricolor Enchiladas (beef, shredded beef, and chicken) and while some of the flavors are more German than Mexican, it's hard to fault catering to their local regulars, and no major complaints from me. The wife ordered a taco salad which while "basic" (her words, not mine), it was delicious. The oldest got a Chimi Villa (beef with chili con queso) and said it was amazing and he's never had a Chimi with more than just meat in it, ow a win there as well. Wish we weren't stuffed, because the Sopapillas sounded delicious but it wasn't meant to be. Very friendly wait staff (I swear they had or covering the outside eating area (there was also room inside, but we wanted the breeze and large umbrellas covered the patio to keep the sun out. Highly recommended if you're in the Mannheim area to come check these guys out"
