"It's a nice, small and very modern restaurant right in the city center. The main concept is the circle in the middle of the restaurant where fresh Sushi (on small plates) floods in front of the guests on small boats who rotate around the circle. The chefs in the middle of the circle keep preparing new small plates with various small dishes. But you can also order from the menu at any time. Of course the quality of the food (mainly fish) in a Japanese restaurant is key, and as much as I can judge: there is nothing to complain about at Kyoto Sushi. Everything looks very fresh and is prepared with attention to detail. I really like the menu, though there doesn't seem to be hot/cooked dishes. The chefs who work in the center of the restaurant's "circle" are very friendly and most of the time attentive. My only complain is about the young waitress: she forgot to bring hot towels, or a complimentary dish, we always had to ask for more drinks or to bring the menu again. Overall it felt like she didn't like to serve the guests, at least not at this evening. At our second visit (Saturday night at 8PM) the restaurant was surprisingly empty (only 6 other couples) and the restaurant's owner started to clean the whole counter and the bar stools already at 9PM. There were two other couples sitting around the bar, and we actually started to wonder whether this was a hint to leave. It's hard to enjoy your dinner in this kind of atmosphere. Overall the owner just didn't come across even remotely interested in his guests. Price: Well, Sushi is never low-budget food. We were quite hungry, started with two soups and had at least 7 or 8 small dishes, plus a bottle of water, 1 hot Sake and two Japanese beer: about 72.00 Euro. In comparison to the restaurant Tokyo Sushi (just 200 m around the corner) Kyoto Sushi is by far less hectic and noisy, which I definitely prefer in order to enjoy dinner. However, as much as I like the food, I'm not sure whether I will give Kyoto Sushi another try."

good choice of classic sushi/sashimi with few private tables around the sushi bar ring. one caveat : you can only pay in cash, only german cards are accepted (no Amex, no Visa).

Been here many times, enjoyed many good sushi. The owners are really nice and friendly. Recommend to visit this place during lunch time - the lunch menu is really cheap and nice (from 11-16pm).

This is a great place to stop by for lunch/dinner any day of the week. The personnel is incredibly welcoming and they are always good at leaving you space but also taking your orders on the right time. Food is outstanding.

I've been to the restaurant to eat several times and I just love it. The place is small but cozy and elegantly decorated. Not only the sushi is great but also noodle and rice are well served. Plus, the staff is really friendly and helpful.

The sushi here is fantastic! The sushi is either served to you directly if you order something specific or you can take the sushi from one of the boats sailing around in water like a conveyor belt. The chef stands in the middle of the "running" sushi and makes the sushi. It's quite expensive but the sushi is delicious.

Very nice owners, fast service, nice room. We visited this place a couple times in the past since we discovered it. The ginger they serve here is just excellent and the sashimi is worth the money. It is not, what you get in Kyoto/Japan, Hong Kong or Singapore but if we want to eat Sushi and Sashimi in Mannheim, we visit the Kyoto Sushi Bar. Lunch menu is available.

Been here with a colleague during a work trip. Service was awful and they refused to accept any card we had for the simple fact they were visa/mastercard and they needed a "German" card for the machine to work. Funny how German customers next to us paid using a simple Visa. Unsure if they are racist or ignorant to the fact visa and mastercards are international. If you a are a foreigner visiting Mannheim avoid this otherwise you will have to run to the closest cashpoint to pay the bill.

We spontaneously chose this restaurant for dinner. It's on the small side and when we went it was very busy, so you do well booking in advance. We ordered à la carte and the sushi was prepared fresh (I assume). In general the food was quite good but the eel was burned to the point that it was partially black ! I brought this to the waitress' attention and she talked to the sushi chef but all we got was a lousy "It's like that". No apology or offer to serve another set of eel nigiri. Very disappointing ! The waitress also got some of our orders wrong, so all in all I feel the service was rather lacking and the whole experience rather annoying. All in all I won't recommend this restaurant, main...
