"Unusual set up that may appeal to some. It does need a disclaimer on the door though for anyone with an allergy to dogs as there were 3 lose in the dining area and the lady working appeared quite happy to have them running all over the place. Ordered a coffee and cake for 2 and whilst a lovely idea of free drinks is welcoming, asking the customer to make it too is not ideal. Unfortunately both pieces of cake were unedible. A peanut butter brownie that was unbaked and a coffee and walnut cake that had crunchy sugar through it, either granulated or again unbaked as it was like eating cake with sand in it so we just left. Real shame but a place to avoid unless you like poor food quality, dogs running around lose and making your own drinks."

"I visited Glastonbury while on a week-long break in Crewkerne. I stopped by this charming cafe because it was dog-friendly. Despite forgetting my glasses, I inquired about gluten-free options and was pleased to see it clearly marked on the menu. When I placed my order, the woman at the counter asked if I had celiac disease, which I confirmed. When my food arrived, she explained that she had cleaned the kitchen and used all new, unopened ingredients to prepare my meal. I simply had a corned beef and onion sandwich, but the attention to detail was exceptional. I highly recommend this place to both celiacs and non-celiacs."

"Visited on a Friday afternoon, it was only about 20 percent full. There did not appear to be a staff shortage, but we could not find a clean table, crumbs everywhere. So, we cleaned a table ourselves, whilst we were there a young lady using a soft sort of brush/mop swept the floor three times but didn’t wipe a single table. Although must people are thinking Covid is over, the tables should be cleaned regularly irrespectively of Covid or not, it’s just simple hygiene, perhaps a little staff training is needed? There appeared to be a plumbing problem as the main toilets had a closed sign on the door."

"My partner and I were incredibly impressed with our overnight stay at The Swan Hotel. Food was tasty, drinks were great and the decor had recently been updated and looks smashing. One small pointer is the seating in the bar – most of the seating is good but the window boxes aren't the right height for the table and could do with foot supports. We've been to a fair few places since lockdown has lifted and have noted the consistent rustiness of staff in bars/restaurants. This is NOT the case with The Swan where we were made very welcome and staff were friendly, professional and swift; particular shoutout to staff member Leeroy who went above and beyond to make the stay pleasant. With a lovely atmosphere, superb location and all the above, we will certainly be returning here – a place that gets my seal of approval."

"The Market Place Cafe in Wells is an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by friendly staff and a bustling atmosphere filled with locals and a few tourists—a sure sign of a great spot. It is located conveniently close to the Cathedral, the cafe offers the perfect respite after exploring the historic sights of Wells. We couldn't resist trying their Sticky Toffee Biscoff cake, and oh my goodness, it was pure indulgence. The combination of sticky toffee and Biscoff flavours was a match made in heaven—a true delight for the taste buds and their caramel shortbread, was a revelation. The caramel layer ensured that the shortbread remained moist and delicious—a perfect balance of sweetness and texture. And last but certainly not least, we had to try one of their pasties, and let me tell you, it was a game changer. Hands down the best pasty we had on our entire 28-day trip—flaky pastry filled with savory goodness, it was simply divine."

"I popped in today a little after 3pm to grab a spot of lunch and was initially told that the kitchen was closed and that only cakes and drinks were available but sandwiches could be purchased next door at the farm shop, which is fine. For those that haven’t visited before, the farm shop is about 10metres away and is part of the same complex and family business. I then nipped to the shop and purchased a sandwich and drink as suggested and returned to the outdoor seating area (which was empty along with most of the shop as well). At this point I was confronted by a member of staff who did introduce or excuse herself but quite rudely and abruptly said I had to purchase a drink to utilise the seating area as it is ‘Company Policy’. I calmed explained that I had just purchased my lunch from the farm shop as previously directed by another member of staff, to which the lady just repeated her previous statement again. Given the time of day and that the shop was basically empty, policy or not, some decorum could have been shown as well as some simple manners. Not wanting to argue I just left! To whoever is responsible for customer service within your department or company, I would kindly suggest that this member of staff is pulled aside to be re-trained and re-evaluated. I often visit both the shop and restaurant as I like to buy local but after today’s events, I am sorry to say that I don’t think I will be returning! To those of you that find yourselves in the same position, be very careful of this situation. I am struggling to think of a word other than SCAM! Simply appalling Jon Thorner, I thought your company was better than this! If I could, I would give this review zero stars…"

"The staff are friendly and welcoming. The waffles, crepes and ice creams are beautifully presented. They say that you eat with your eyes, well this is certainly the case. the decor is quirky and fun! Langage Farm is the manufacturer and supplier of the ice cream, They are really delicious, the best I have tasted in a long time. Taylor 's also have a yoghurt ice cream, which you can choose the flavour you like the most. Mine is with bluebberries!! yum yum My most favourite ice cream sundae is the 'Healthy Option ' Vanilla ice cream with fruit salad, covered with plain yoghurt, granola and honey. It tasted as it looked wonderful. Really do recommend you go and try, will bring back memories of ice cream parlours of old."

"During our visit to Shepton Mallet for lunch, we decided to give this restaurant a try. As soon as we walked in, we knew we had made the right choice. The place was bright and welcoming, and we were greeted and served by a very friendly gentleman, possibly the owner. The menu wasn't extensive, but it had a good variety to choose from. We ordered sandwiches that were clearly freshly made to order, with thick, fresh bread and quality fillings like ham salad and egg mayonnaise. They were served with crisps and delicious chilled apple juice. The walls were adorned with chalkboards displaying different cakes and scones, all at very reasonable prices. Everything we saw being served to other customers looked fantastic! Before leaving, we purchased some biscuits from the shop and another bottle of the apple juice we had with our lunch. If we ever find ourselves back in Shepton Mallet, we would definitely dine here again. Highly recommended!"

"Promotion sounds inviting, read the small print carefully its not half price mains only if you purchase starters and or puds.......but service extreamly slow, food not very impressive below average and the overworked waitress was rude.....such a shame as the venue is in a beautiful setting the revamp is nice but not kept up has the feel that it needs a deep clean...dont understand the slow service there was hardly anyone in on the lnchtime we visited but our food took an age to come the other table there waited an hour and a half for their lunch with less than four tables in the whole place. when we arrived some golfers who had been waiting a long time for a breakfast roll had to cancel as it hadnt turned up and their slot for the course was due ........ once our food eventually arrived it was not even a decent standard....very disappointing......i wont be going back ....."

"My friends and I booked a table for a christmas dinner dance this year as a treat. We paid £35 for a very basic meal and a shocking DJ. My prawn starter was a plate of limp lettuce with a few scrawny frozen prawns in a thin, flavourless pink sauce. Main course salmon was adequately cooked, again with a small amount of non descript yellow sauce, nothing special. The table was presented with two bowls of veg, that looked like they has come out of the freezer. Tateless, bland, bland, bland. Gordon Ramsy would have had a field day. Chocolate brownie was tasty but served with a comical squirt of cream, Like, really laughable here. Shame, as this ruined this tastiest course. The music was dreadful, only one or two songs from the last decade. The DJ didnt bother to read the crowd to cater for the mix of ages present. I would say this was lazy. It went perfectly with the meal. I am not a fusspot, in fact I am usually easy to please. I have never written a review before but would like to warn people not to bother."

"The refurb of this place is of a very high standard and the staff are friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the food lets it down. Primarily, if you don't like burgers or fish and chips, find somewhere else. I visited with a friend and although my fish and chips were good, my friends meal was first served on completely cold vegetables. On pointing this out to the waiting staff, she offered a replacement which, we expected would be a plated meal with hot food. Unfortunately it was delivered as a pile of veg and potatoes thrown together in a tin dish. Not ideal and a real disappointment. Probably would not visit again."

"Feb. 2022. This now well established and popular venue, continues to produce provender of the highest quality. I have been attending the establishment for many years now and it remains one of my favourite restaurants. This night the lamb shank Agnello Brasato was a melt in the mouth shoulder of lamb on a generous bed of mash pototo, brocoli and heritage' carrots. The cheesecake Torta di Formagi came with a topping of tart blackberries, a good foil to the cheese. And of course, the Sanglovese Rubicone, to wash it all down with. Probably the most agreeable house red' in any Italian restaurant. December 21 The panic (of them leaving) is over, but the pandemic remains. The spaghetti bolognese, mixed up like it should be, is beyond reproach and the Fragola e Lampone dessert, comes out better with every presentation. GOOD NEWS BAD NEWS. Aug 2019 Having eaten here often and always finding both the service and the food up to expectation, both waifu and I agreed to visit this establishment for our (whatever-it-was) th anniversary. Booking in advance and mentioning the occasion, the staff had placed roses on our table and we were treated to a complimentary aperitif. The food (taken from the lunch menu) met expectations as did the house red, a modest but pleasing Sangiovese Rubicone 2018, which washed down the meal very well. The day was cold, but the sun shone through the windows, the staff were attentive and amiable and all made the lunch experience most agreeable. That's the GOOD news. The BAD news, is they are leaving. Avaricious land-lords demands have induced a going concern to take their business elsewhere. So, dear reader, if you wish to experience this excellent establishment or wish to do so again, get a wiggle on they will be gone beginning in July. Moving to Winford apparently but more of this later."
