"They offer GF pizza, but recommended not to eat them as I said I was koeliac (due to the risk of contamination). Instead, they offer to cook GF pasta of my choice. I asked for the Pasta packaging (GF-Penne by Semper). Unfortunately, I got GI symptoms after I had eaten there. Impurities probably occurred when cooking the GF Pasta. That's a pity because the pasta was really delicious and the staff were friendly."

Das Essen kam pünktlich, aber keine Überraschung, da wir nur wenige Gäste waren. Fleischgericht mit Kartoffeln und Salat bestellt. Kartoffeln kamen nicht und Salat war die Eisbergstücke mit nichts anderem. Da der Service unhöflich war, hatte ich Angst, das Thema Kartoffeln anzusprechen. Zum Glück wurde nicht dasselbe berechnet, obwohl die Rechnung insgesamt sehr salzig war. Vergleichbar mit 1 Street Tier Top Restaurants, in denen großartiger Service und gute italienische Küche geboten werden.Vielleicht konzentrieren sich die Orte nur auf Napolitaner, die ihre Heimat und ihr Essen aus ihrer Kindheit kennen, aber definitiv kann ich es weder Einheimischen, Touristen noch Geschäftsreisenden empfehlen."

"My partner and I were tourists in Lugano and we chose the Sass Cafè for lunch. We ate well, the service was not up to par, but above all the bill (different prices from those written on the menu). "We were so looking forward to having some wine and dinner here. We had a wonderful day on the lake and were hungry and hot and dinner here was high on our list. Unfortunately, we left almost angry, frustrated and very disappointed. Food: Dinner was amazing, the food excellent, the portions large and food comes out beautifully presented. We had the pasta with seafood, outstanding, the bruschetta, good and the fish carpaccio, very good. The wine selection was excellent and we let our waiter make our selections. However, the tables are really, really close together, we had three folks next to us that were loud, we could barely hear ourselves. The waiter could not reach us without bending over the next table. Service: Probably one of the worst services we have had. We arrived early and everything was good to start with. We ordered drinks and pasta for our daughter who was hungry. Everyone was happy. Then chaos ensued:1) Three folks who seemed to be "preferred" locals arrived and we never saw our waiter all night. It seemed that every person in the restaurant visited them to chat, but not once did they tend to us. After all why care about the tourist!2) Water or drinks were never refilled. 3) For its claim of vegetarian friendly, we found this completely lacking. They had one pasta with tomato sauce or the cheese plate on the menu. 4) My wife liked the bruschetta, and asked for the speck to be substituted for cheese. Easy right? They came back with plain bread topped with tomato, and the cheese plate. The waiter "rudely" informed us this is what they do. They expected us to pay for both although we did not ask for it. We left disappointed and angry. We walked over to another place close by for drinks and dessert. I cannot in all fairness recommend this restaurant."

"Nach einem Besuch im Parco Scherrer und weil wir den ganzen Tag bereits unterwegs gewesen waren, beschlossen wir im Grotto essen zu gehen. Die Karte und die Terrasse sahen einladend aus. Zuerst wurden wir entäuscht das wir nicht am Rand sitzen durften mit direkter Seesicht. Alles sei reserviert wurde uns mitgeteilt, es sei schliesslich Samstag.... Also sassen wir mitendrinn. In der ganzen Zeit als wir dort waren, war nur noch ein Tisch mit zwei Personen besetzt... Das bestellte essen nachmittags um 17.00 Uhr kam sehr schnell. Doch die Gnocchi waren verkocht, wässerig und die Tomatensauce fad. Das kleine Basilikumblatt konnte da auch nichts mehr retten. Auch die Ravioli al Brasato ca.9-10 Stk. waren nicht so der Hit. Sie schmeckten zwar gut waren aber lauwarm und es war die selbe fade Tomatensauce wie auf meinen Gnocchi. Die Bedienung war nett, lies sich aber gerne ablenkenken ich musste sie zum zahlen nochmals extra rufen wei wir sonst den Bus verpasst hätten und bediente andauern mit heruntergezogener Maske. Für mich zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt ein No-Go!"

"I wanted to have lunch with my family. We were 7 people and wanted to share two tables. The woman didn't allow us to do that so we sat at two different tables. My father went to the toilet and heard the staff talking about us. We were there 1-2 hours ago and just had something to drink. He heard that one woman said that we would finally like to eat. We also had a boat to go to Lugano in 45 minutes. We politely asked if they could bring the food a little quicker for us. The woman said very unsympathetically: “I don’t know.” Very unpleasant experience. The view is great but the staff is horrible. Unfortunately I can only give 1 star but if I could I would give zero."

"We were greeted with the most stern face of the female waitress who simply said’ we have no table for you’ N on greeting whatsoever! After a minute 2 tables opened up, the waiter ended up messing the order , upon confrontation he bluntly replied that it was us who had ordered this! Others in my group waited for 20 mins to get a Naan to somehow finish their sugar loaded ‘ Paneer Tikka masala’.They take customers for granted! Unbelievably poor service and vivaciously rude staff!!"

"After seeing the great reviews here, I decided to try this place, and my goodness I'm glad I did. We sat on the terrace with a magnificent view of the lake, the gluten-free options are on the menu and all allergens are numbered, which is great, I had a gluten-free role that was sealed on the bag, for my main I have Beetroot Risotto with scallops, it was so good I did not want it to end, I will definitely go back to Lugano."

"My friend and I came here off of a recommendation from our BnB host. Needless to say, we were not disappointed. The hostess only spoke Italian but she was able to communicate with us effectively and was very charming. The food was great. I had the pasta with fish and my friend had fish. Very tasty. "We are schnitzels lover and a good schnitzel is one of our preferred dish. We arrived to Lugano very hungry, Following TripAdvisor good reviews we took a special taxi from our hotel to Schnitzy, we arrived at 16:00 pm. At this time the menu was limited for schnitzels only, salad and chips. The staff were very friendly and we had a very good feeling that we are going to enjoy. We ordered two schnitzels : Weiner (veal) and the big 350 gram pork. Both of our Schnitzy schnitzels looked big and impressive but that was all!!!Both were too thin with plywood texture and too much heavy dominate fried bread crumbs taste.The main point was the Weiner schnitzel which had an unpleasant aftertaste and bad smell, we could not eat it. (really low quality) The pork was eatable, the coating of the fried bread crumbs took over the taste of the thin meat. The lemon and the chips help alittle but it was far away from our expectation for juicy flavour good schnitzel. The real bad luck was after I ate 1/3 of this average pork schnitzel I have noticed that there is a human hair inside the coating. They apologies and deduct the cost from the bill. The chips and the salad were good. They are nice people and it's look that they are investing effort in their business, I really hope that they will improve themselves."

"Seemed like a good idea. Initial service was subpar, drinks were good (as all they did was open the bottle or serve coffee). Food was not great- salty and bit sickly. More problems arose when we were informed they don’t accept card. Which is highly unusual, had to go to atm around the corner where they have a minimum of 50 francs. Then the waiter has the audacity to take his time giving me change as to ask for a tip. Give the customer a stress free experience and perhaps you’ll get what you deserve. In the mean time your establishment deserves a 1 star."

"Positive Aspekte: Super freundliches Personal, stets zuvorkommend, lustig und sympathisch. Wunderschöne Lage direkt am See. Vergünstigte Parkplätze vorhanden. Personal spricht mehrere Sprachen. Mit dem Zug innerhalb von 10 Minuten in Lugano, Ticket im Hotelaufenthalt inbegriffen. Saubere Zimmer, Einrichtung der Zimmer normal nichts Spezielles, jedoch auch nicht alt). Sonnenterrase mit Liegestühlen, Sonnenschirmen und kleinem Pool. Seepromenaden weg direkt vor dem Hotel, auf welchem man bis in das Nachbarsdorf gehen kann. Negative Aspekte: Für den Hotel Preis war das Frühstück teilweise lieblos angerichtet z.B. der Käse im Buffet), wenig Früchte zur Auswahl Äpfel, Fruchtsalat), 3 Minuten Ei war ein hart gekochtes Ei, Cappuccino und Espresso waren auch eher enttäuschend wenig Geschmack, Milch sehr wässrig). Bei der Pizza Verdurre waren wir enttäuscht, da das Gemüse nicht typisch italienisch war. Es wurde das Beilage Gemüse für die Fleisch Gerichte verwendet. Auch hier teilweise lieblos angerichtet. Auch der Salat Insalata Caprese war eher lieblos angerichtet z.B. ein einziges Basilikumblatt auf dem ganzen Salat. Wir hätten es vorgezogen, wenn beim Abendessen/Frühstück jeweils Musik abgespielt worden wäre. Ohne war das Ambiente nämlich mittelmässig. Fazit: Schönes, kleines Hotel direkt am See. Super freundliches Personal. Sauberr Zimmer. Wir würden das Hotel weiter empfehlen, jedoch ohne im Hotel zu essen."
