"Fantastic service from the Devonshire Arms! From booking to eating the whole experience was first class. We booked a table for 10 for my sons 17th birthday. I was sent confirmation and the preorder document within 5 minutes of my call. We added another guest too at no extra trouble. Staff were friendly on arrival and extended impeccable service throughout the night. The food!! Exceptional. So tasty and you could tell the menu was considered and everything had been cooked with care. Steak was cooked to perfection. Compliments to the chef! Everything else ordered was fresh and piping hot. Portion sizes gave more than moneys worth, even the kids menu didn’t leave my 9yo niece hungry! We had a range of starters, mains with sides and desserts and everything was outstanding. A bit off the beaten track but definitely a hidden gem that’s worth the drive! To all the staff, thanks for a memorable evening! We will be sure to return!"

"Took my mum for an impromptu dinner on pie night and it was amazing. The staff were friendly and polite and even though there was a large birthday party in, they found us a table very quickly and even took our drinks to it before...fetching us to sit down. We had the minted lamb pie which was amazing, soft lamb in crumbly pasty with superb chips! We were checked on by staff a few times and each and every one was sincere and helpful. Wish we had room for cheesecake because, as I'd had it before, I know that it's amazing. A lovely pub with amazing food and fabulous staff."

"Mandy, the co-owner of Stamp, is an exceptional baker who creates incredible Afternoon Teas that are worth traveling for. Stamp is a small post office/café with just 6 tables, so reservations are necessary, especially if you are in the Ashover Parish area. Afternoon tea services had paused during lockdowns but are now starting up again by reservation only. Be sure to bring a Tupperware container to take home any leftovers! The venue can accommodate up to 8 friends and allows you to bring your own alcohol for special occasions. Each table is allotted 90 minutes from the time of booking, so punctuality is important due to high demand. The menu includes a selection of finger sandwiches, mini rolls, wraps, quiche, lemon posit, variety of cakes, fruit and cheese scones with jam, clotted cream, and fresh strawberries. Guests have the choice of a pot of tea or a cup of coffee. The price has remained under £20 since opening, but there may be changes due to inflation. Stamp also serves drinks, breakfast, and lunch for locals and walkers and is dog-friendly. Additionally, you can purchase cakes, newspapers, milk, and sweets to go. Stamp is truly the heart of this lovely community."

"We have been meaning to try this place for years and finally got around to a last minute visit at the weekend. The restaurant is small and very busy so I'd recommend booking well ahead of time. The food is really very good. The goats cheese starter on the specials menu was divine and I would also recommend the pasta dishes. The cheese garlic bread was OK but I prefer more cheese. The tiramasu and nutella dessert were both great. The service was very attentive. We were regularly asked if everything was OK and if we would like more drinks. Will definitely return."

"Although the aesthetics look good I can't say the same for the service and food. Told my order at the bar hadn't gone through when it had then they agreed it had otherwise I would have paid them twice The meal we booked had the finest starters. My main was beef stroganoff which had 99 per cent mushrooms in it. I returned the dish then waited what felt like an age and then got served what looked and tasted like bisto gravy with a few strips of what tasted just like liver. I gave up left it and ordered a dessert as I was hungry. Then as it was getting late bar staff started spraying disinfectant next to me in the bartop whilst other staff milled around with mop buckets. Ordered a cookie and vanilla ice cream sandwich. Waitress came out with double chocolate cookie and chocolate ice cream which I didnt order an d don't like them waltzed off . In fact they all did. We were up there totally on our own where you are supposed to pay at your table . After waiting a bit we went downstairs and tried to pay at the other bar where I complained. They gave me 50 per cent off my stroganoff and apologised. Then mix up with my payment again . Eventually got out of there. It ruined our evening which was meant to be a celebration and feel let down by The Hunloke."

"Lucas and Harley made our visit. We came from Lincolnshire for a walk and thought we would grab a drink before we headed home. Lucas gave us a warm welcome and was so friendly we decided to stay for food, he gave us recommendations on the menu and we had the duck dumplings that were amazing but the strawberry and balsamic salad was the best surprise, we both had the BLT for our main and it didn't disappoint, it came in soft bread with a perfect crust and with old fashioned proper cooked chips. Lucas pointed us towards the QR code that meant we could choose our music, which we did. Harley the chef came out front and made conversation, we even got to try some menu experiments that were delicious! What a beautiful pub but it was definitely the hospitality that has made our afternoon. Thank you and we will see you again!"

"Mrs. Pubtesterx and I came here with our two kids and her parents for a birthday treat and we weren't disappointed. Excellent attentive service. I had the blade of beef for my main and it just melted in the mouth. Really well presented too. The atmosphere is great as well. I didn't have a desert but Mrs. Pubtesterx said they were beautiful. I recommend getting extra vegetables as the food is quality over quantity. If I could offer any constructive feedback I would say, lose the large low lamp shades in the middle of the tables. They obstruct your view to your party. An easy 5 stars. It's pricey and we couldn't dine here on a regular basis but for a treat you can't go wrong."

"Came for the first time for a family meal and was impressed, although all staff I saw was young they was all polite and in good spirits which is refreshing and very nice to see as in most places look like they can’t be bothered to be there. Food was lovely although burgers abit dry. Was slightly on the expensive side but for a treat we didn’t mind as food was nice and service spot on. However, I did have a couple of gins which I asked for no ice and both times came with ice but we was a big table and staff did seem busy so didn’t mention it. Would recommend!"

"Had a lovely cheese board and beers. The lady was really welcoming and friendly. We had a 2 cheese ploughman's with a pork pie and it was definitely enough for 2. We also has 2 of the small bits which were really nice, salt and pepper squid and mushrooms . Really nice and peaceful and a good size car park over the road from the oub, although be careful when leaving as its on a blind corner!"

"the most beautiful part of the north east derbyshire district is barlow village at the rande of the peak district national park theses pictures I am living from my home population 910 people living here including myself. more like yorkshire in north east Derbyshire...and emmerdale farm in balow ... I love this beautiful place beautiful view of the culminating district, everyone where they see, they have two beautiful pubs here the trout inn and the peacock inn pub, if they don't want more beauty, then here barlow village edge of the peak district nationalparks. I'm proud to leave my house. please, if you visit our village and keep it neat. Thank you."

"This restaurant is absolutely amazing! I placed my order at 5pm and picked it up just 15 minutes later. The food is so delicious that it's worth ordering early to avoid a long wait. I wouldn't go anywhere else because the food here is consistently good! I tried the Tofu in garlic and chilli, and it was delicious. I also ordered chicken fried rice, crispy beef, sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style, BBQ sauce, curry sauce, and chips. It was the perfect weekend treat."

"I booked the Hyde Park for a family occasion it being my Daughters 40th Birthday. There was 22 for a Sunday Carvery which was just amazing !! Choice of 4 meats everything you would expect to have on a Sunday Lunch but with the added bonus it all has been cooked for you !! Hot food delicious gravy ! Staff are polite helpful and with a few toddlers running round it got a bit hectic but didn’t phase the staff at all despite the Hyde being very busy. Tom was there to oversee everything all went to plan. I would highly recommend the Hyde Park for any family occasion who doesn’t love a Sunday Roast ?? However having a quick peek at the menu the food choice is just Amazing ! Been a few times but not on this scale with family ! Amazing beer garden for the children to burn of steam .. when the weather gets a little warmer . Well Done Hyde Park !"

"I had wanted to try out this gastropub for some time and spend a few squid on some top notch food. Well it does not disappoint ! Its clearly popular and busy, the ambiance of the place is very inviting, comfortable and the many staff...very attentive and helpful. We had some calamari and garlic bread to start with and share, the garlic bread was amazing and reminiscent of the garlic butter found in french escargots, rich and delicious. The calamari was served with some lovely tartare sauce and hit the spot. Followed the fish of the day and sea vegetables. Flaky cod cooked to perfection, tons of flavours yet subtle and balanced. The famous fish and chips was beautiful and executed perfectly. Nothing more to add, it did what it said on the tin. Perfect. Now then for the spatchcocked chicken and chips spicy slaw). This was simply the best chicken I ever had said my daughter. Moist and melt in the mouth texture with just the right hint of thyme and lemon and a touch of smoky flavours. It fell off the bone and clearly had a huge amount of attention to details in the execution. Simple food executed as it should. We ran out of steam for dessert and shall be back in the pub section to try some out!. Many thanks to all staff and chefs, this is a must to visit and a box ticked (tickled? ; Until next time."

"Food is usually amazing, we had brought family for Father’s Day and have to say it was really disappointing. The food wasn’t as good, it felt like it had been prepared for the day and we came in the evening so tough meat, hard roasted veg etc. lastly we ordered crumble with flapjack crumb, it was honestly the worst desert I’ve ever had. I never send food back but on this occasion myself and another with the same desert refused it. It was as thought they’d run out and thought they’d sprinkle some uncooked porridge oats on top. It was disgusting. Nothing like crumble or flapjack and I genuinely don’t know how anyone would enjoy that. It’s a shame as it was a disappointing experience and has put us off returning if the food is not a reliable standard."

"This is the first and possibly the last visit to mint leaf. We have read and heard of great reviews about this place and I for one was disappointed. Giving the benefit of doubt first, it was New Year’s Eve so I totally understand the...demand of service to customers however, and it is a big however. I called to book a table a few days before and they made it sound like it was full. They game me options to book in so I took the later one. I left my name so we knew it was a concrete booking. On arrival, no name was asked by the doorman, he just shoved us on the waiting sofa starring at people eating food which felt uncomfortable anyway. We then got taken to our table (and there was plenty of room too) shortly followed by another couple who took the next table. We had a look at the menus when, a regular couple came in and sat tables down, only to get served instantly. Regardless of importance and how much you spend in the vicinity, we should have been first. So, we ordered popadoms to share with pickle tray and they wasn’t even warm. They tasted like rubber and they had been stood for some time. The pickle tray was awful, like it had been slopped together. We had to be asked to get a drink which was awkward. Onto the starters, the tandoori chicken actually was really nice, came on a small plate with small tomato and some discoloured lettuce. It wasn’t served on a skewer either. My partners allo chop was cold. It took minutes for the mains to arrive and we hadn’t even had our starters taken away either so the table was a mess. The waiter was arrogant and slammed the plates onto the table shouting “enjoy your meals happy new year” in the most sarcastic voice too. Overall, a very disappointing evening when we was looking forward to it too. We never got looked after once and asked if we need anymore drinks etc. i must say though, we have eaten at Ayeshas on Dronfield bottom and they actually blow mint leaf away. So, we won’t come back I’m afraid. Ohh, give the toilets a clean they were awful. for me guys."

"What a super little pub. We stayed in Ashover for a week and had a wonderful time. Honestly we don't really go to pubs as a rule, but the Crispin is brilliant, it has a lovely atmosphere, very welcoming, and family friendly. We didn't have any food, but did observe other people with meals and it looked great. They have a great selection of beers. But the overriding feeling we both had was just pure relaxation. The bar staff were just excellent, helpful and friendly. Awesome job Crispin."

"it was great. when we arrived, I received a warm greeting and all the staff who served us were very helpful, friendly and personal. decor feels warm and cozy. I absolutely love that they are a separate vegan menu it is not something they often find and it makes the order so much easier. it is also not only the second thought vegan options; both the tomato and basilikum soup and coconut curry were both fantastic. also great dessert options I had the crumb with vegan crawl and it was delicious. we are coming back to the final."

"It started with slow service. My sweet and sour prawn starter took 50m to arrive during a quiet service. Some prawns were rubbery and overcooked but to be fair, not all. Pitta bread was dry and hard, salsa was similar to a supermarket jar with pineapple added. For £7 I’d expect better.We waited quite a while longer for our mains. Prob 30m. Homemade chicken burger with bacon was battered, deep fried and greasy, and the chicken tasted of the oil too. The bacon was also fried. The chips that came with it were dry and unappealing. The coleslaw was a really odd colour and arrived warm I didn’t dare try that. I had most of the chicken (without the batter) and picked at the rest. My girlfriend’s Lamb pie was not available (after ordering), so had to re order and chose the replacement Steak and stout pie. The mash was unseasoned, no butter, milk or anything other than just potato. The veg were a mixed bag with some too firm (more than al dente). The gravy wasn’t meaty and rich, but quite weak and watery. The pie was ok though. Having left most of my dinner, the waitress asked if everything was ok, and I relayed our feedback. She apologised, but nothing was done about it. As a side note, in the room two other tables came in. A couple first, and then a group of four who were sat directly next to the table of two. The tables were too close together and social distancing was not adhered to. The table of two then moved to another empty table on their own accord as they felt uncomfortable as we would have done. Being the only (3) tables in a room of 7 9 tables, this was really unnecessary.Being polite, the whole experience was very disappointing and I’d not recommend The Plough at Brackenfield to anyone."

"we have often eaten in the course of the years in the phoenix and last Sunday we have kept our sons to celebrate with our family. there were a total of 22 of us and each one of our party could not praise enough eating! the food was perfectly cooked and nothing was too much annoyed. we had a nice reserved against and the staff was very attentive. the terrace and the view are beautiful to enjoy drinks and the garden very safe and spacious for our children to play. can not recommend this place enough and we are happy to come back soon! thank you. mel all employees xx"

"Visited recently, first ever visit. Lovely selection of merchandise, whether it be plants or otherwise. Nice cafe too, although the cakes were a bit on the sweet side. Very disappointed regarding you refusal to accept cash. As someone who works in retail I understand why, but seeing as most other businesses( including my company), continue to accept cash without question, you could potentially be turning business away by not accepting it. Yes paying by card is easier but cash is still legal so would be nice to have the option to pay that way."
