"After reviewing good comments on Tripadvisor we went for Sunday lunch, and the manager was extremely polite and accommodating on arrival and served drinks promptly, of which the Guinness was a really good standard. We ordered 3 starters and 4 Sunday roast lunches, and 1 Burger meal. The starters arrived within 25 mins and although presented well, they all appeared to be “warm” rather than hot, and the prawns did not taste right, but we did not want to make an issue about a starter. Then we waited an hour for our main meals to come out, and I asked about the delay, being told that one of the other customers had a food allergy, so the preparation of this specific meal had caused all of the other customers to be delayed. The meals finally arrived another 10mins later. Again, the presentation was very good and they looked delicious, with the food stacked in a tower format, with a Yorkshire placed as a crown on the top. Unfortunately, the Yorkshire was stone cold and hard, and we had requested that one of the Sunday Roasts excluded the cauliflower cheese, but this had not been noted, so we told the waitress that we needed A roast without cauliflower cheese and I also mentioned that ALL the Yorkshire’s were cold. She politely apologised and took the one roast away. She came back with a new roast dinner excluding cauliflower but no replacement Yorkshire’s, but everyone was so hungry from the 70min wait that they had already started eating. I poured hot gravy over my meal, and although the meat (beef and turkey) were of good quality, it was quite difficult to cut the beef due to the knives provided. However all of the vegetables were cold, the roast potatoes were overcooked and hard, but still cold. We all ate the meat but left most of the vegetables. The double burger was overdone, to the point it was grey and hard, in addition to also being cold. At no point did anyone return to check if we were happy, although we had initially stated it was cold to the young waitress, when she politely said “I’m really sorry about that” When we asked for the bill, the young waitress Asked “was everything alright with your meals” seeing that every plate was half full .... I said it was not good and asked to speak to the manager. The manager came over promptly, but as I explained that all of the food was cold, she asked if we had been asked by the waitress, and when I told her that the young waitress had apologised but nothing was done, the manager asked me to describe which waitress it was, then turned and walked away to find her whilst I was in mid sentence. She then appeared 5 mins later, but returned to the bar, and was clearly annoyed by the way she was speaking to the bartender, as she was operating the till. I waited a further 5 minutes, still with no eye contact from her, so I approached the bar asking if she had forgotten about me? She said she was trying to knock off “a few drinks” but that’s all she would offer, as we had eaten most of the meat. I expressed that this was not satisfactory as we had only eaten 30% max and the 70min delay, which she then reiterated the customer with the allergy causing the delay and that she would be strongly disciplining the waitress for not responding adequately to when we highlighted the meals were cold. I felt this was unprofessional to blame a young inexperienced waitress, and when I advised I would be leaving negative feedback on Tripadvisor she said”well I hope you leave good comments about my service”. I reluctantly paid the bill, with several soft drinks deducted and left. I can honestly state that I will NEVER return to the pub again, which is a real shame as it looked lovely and clean with the makeover, but the poor standard of cold food and embarrassing situation of the manageress blaming staff, then refusing any refund is too distressing, to the point I rely duty bound to advise anyone else intending to visit."
