"We were in Clacton for the weekend and found this place via Tripadvisor. The reviews weren't wrong. We were struggling to choose because the choices looked so good so we decided to go for the 3-course set menu. It began with a beuatifully presented selection of Thai starters, of which the chicken skewer was the star, but it's probably the best prawn toast I've had. The mains were chicken, beef and vegetables with superbly cooked jasmine rice. Then a very nice ice cream for dessert. Lovely service too, very friendly. Under £35 a head including drinks. It was quite busy and there was a steady stream of takeaway orders being picked up too. I'm not surprised."

"Fantastic restaurant! The atmosphere is wonderful. I dined at The Manor on a Tuesday night and was pleasantly surprised by how busy this charming little spot was. The service was very friendly and accommodating, and the food was outstanding. The moules marinière were a true masterpiece, and the lamb rack was both delicious and expertly prepared. Overall, this level of service and quality is something I would typically expect from a much more renowned establishment, and the prices are reasonable considering the high standard of the offerings. I will definitely be returning!"

"Our first experience at this restaurant was fantastic, but unfortunately, our most recent visit did not meet our expectations. Despite the tearoom not being overly busy, the delivery car seemed to be constantly coming and going, causing us to wait nearly an hour for our main courses to be served. When our dishes finally arrived, we were disappointed. While the chili tasted good, the portion size was extremely small and did not justify the price we paid. The presentation of the dish was also lacking, with the chips looking haphazardly thrown onto the plate with a dollop of chili on top. We have decided not to order this dish again in the future."

"we stumbled over this little gem of a restaurant during the visit to dovercourt one evening and the smell of the food was so mouthful water that we said that we had come back tomorrow with the rest of our travel companion to eat here. I'm glad we did this. this food was amazing! the experience began with the owner ibrahim greeted us as soon as we entered the restaurant. this is a wonderful man we soon found out puts so much time and love in eating as he does to make sure that the customer is happy. his attentiveness to ensure that we understood the dishes and what it contained was a refreshing change in the hurly atmosphere that has the majority of restaurants. a member of our party has a nut allergy and ibrahim ensured that the ordered court would not have cross-contamination or contact with any nuts. the food arrived and our thoughts were absolutely bleeding. everything was fresh, tasty, and the presentation of it was something they would find in a five star restaurant. the dishes were a large part of the food, but above all the quality was there. everything on the plate perfectly matched to each other, and there was so much taste in every dish that we all wanted that we were hungry so we could continue on this tasteful journey through the menu. the Turkish meze bar fulfilled and surpassed all expectations and I guarantee that I will let everyone I know participate in the kitchen and atmosphere of this amazing small restaurant. the prices are very reasonable, and no word of a lie that if this restaurant was in london, they need a reservation and expect to pay double. I hope everyone has the opportunity to meet ibrahim and his wonderful family during the Turkish meze bar. please go and experience the amazing food he serves proudly. amazing!"

"So we revisited tonight as our previous visit was a success. However tonights food was a little short of a disaster. We as a couple, always order 2 medium Haddock and a portion of medium chips to share between us. Older age being the reason that a few chips each normally suffices. If this is the ‘new medium’ chips, then it needs labelling as ‘small’. We seriously considered the local Harwich chip shop for another portion!! Tonights meal was taken away to Harwich to eat. Both of the Medium Haddocks were more of a small size to be honest, but that aside, it tasted Nothing like Haddock tastes. Its a ritual for the pair of us on a Friday night to have fish and chips and we both know what Haddock breaks apart and tastes like. Tonights so called Haddock was a lot drier than anywhere else does it. The flakes as you would normally break it would be larger and more of the size of a dessert spoon. These were very small and dry without the same taste. We both said this is not Haddock and didn't finish either of them. Disappointed with tonights serving and i need to hear some good things from there for us to return."

"You do not need a time capsule to drift back, to a time when a business went a million miles to make you fill so wanted, but add to that your dog, yes your dog, the bestvdog friendly cafe your ever come across. If you got problems sitting on a aluminium seat there are cushions provided. You can enjoy a delicious bacon sarnie with a book, yes they have second books, donate by other customers. The funds go last hope Dog charity. Stunning views better than Monty Carlo, beach dog friendly, you maybe lucky and see a sailing boat race. I want to go on and on and on, come and see yourself this gem, you can see the wind farm off shore with your coffee or tea. What could be more priceless than seeing a old Thames Barge sailing by, as they used to up and down our coast line. If want a extra to this gem, Frinton On Sea is just 2 to 2 half walk away, and over the back is a lovely country park, buy a parking ticket though. Dogs can enjoy a beach play then sniff and read. So there you have it. Come on down"

"We had been to Franco's many times before and loved it, both under the original ownership and the new. However, it seems that it has changed hands yet again and not for the good I'm afraid. Although, judging by the November reviews maybe it is back on track again. I also note that late September/early reviews are similar to ours, which was very poor. In fact we left before the food arrived, mainly due to the extremely poor level of service we received with our drinks. We were out to celebrate my wife's birthday and to start the evening, the four of us all ordered double Gin Tonic's. However, it took 40 minutes for the drinks to arrive. And if if we thought the time taken to bring the drinks was bad, then you can imagine our disappointment when one of the waitresses brought four large dirty glasses with what looked like water in them. No ice, no lemon, and the mixers already poured in the glass, so no way to judge what level of gin we had received. When we asked about the ice and lemon they looked at us in astonishment. We assumed that they had none of neither, otherwise why bring drinks without the basics? It was like they had never worked in a bar/restaurant before and had just wandered in off the street. To make matters worse, they then arrived later with a glass of lemons and a glass of ice. By this stage we could see the evening descending into chaos and we decided to leave. No apology from the staff or questions, they just allowed us to leave and got on with their business. Very off-putting. We decided to try Killocks, which was surprisingly good. Unfortunately, that's another restaurant off the go-to list."

"First time getting a takeaway from here and won't be the last. I had a kadai gosth which was very tasty, the lamb was the best meat I've had from an Indian restaurant which is saying something as the place I normally go to is excellent quality and this is even better than that. There was tonnes of flavour throughout the whole meal, perfect blend of spices and quality. Parking: There's is space for around 20 cars at a guess. Service: Take out Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Kadai Gosth Parking space Plenty of parking Parking options Free parking lot"

"my first time, when I visited this picturesque little restaurant, the ambiente is perfect, no loud music, clean ordinary workers are there to please them that they really do the above and beyond. I was for the English breakfast. I have reviews on this restaurant people say it is well overpriced, hear them, there is a proverb in living, they pay for what they get, and at bluebirds they sure that eating is absolutely shy when my breakfast came out it looked amazing. the sausages bang, the eggs were cooked to perfection. the pot of the tees get them 6 cups in fine bone china. I will recommend this establishment to everyone, in which I will go back tomorrow with the woman, it will now be my local to the breakfast. bravo ladies chef for an amazing experience, keep them the excellent service they offer for the community. Joe!"

"I absolutely adore this restaurant. I visited for the first time last week and returned today with friends and family because the food was so amazing. There is a wide variety of choices on the menu. The waffle I ordered was soft and fresh with generous toppings, and my daughter loved her strawberry sundae. The sandwiches were just as delicious. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. We ordered two mermaid cakes, but they accidentally gave us mermaid shakes instead. They were very generous and allowed us to keep the shakes. The attention to detail and presentation of the desserts and shakes were superb. I will definitely be returning again soon."

"We have previously eaten at Lucca a number of times and always been very impressed. This time was very different, for a number of reasons. Prices have gone up £6.30 for an Aperol Spritz cocktail is ridiculous considering the price in central London is below £6. Worse than that, both were made using slightly flat Prosecco! Prawn/Calamari starter had only two prawns and was overwhelmed by the calamari it was also pretty bland. Mussels starter tasted really odd. Pizza main course and desert were really good as usual. Service was poor with salads ordered as starters not arriving and having to be asked for. Also other items being forgotten eg coffees and again having to be asked for. We were a large family group and on the day it didn't seem worth complaining as overall the meal was just about acceptable. However, it certainly didn't delight and was a lot of money for an average experience."

"I have visited this restaurant twice in the past two weeks and have already made a reservation for the end of the month. After reading some negative reviews, I was unsure if we had visited the same place. The meals we tried were delicious and reasonably priced. The service was a bit slow, but I appreciated the more relaxed pace compared to other places. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The only thing lacking was a bar area for pre-dinner drinks, but I look forward to enjoying some drinks on the patio during the warmer weather."

"She eventually offered to bring a single side of chips, but I had to ask for an empty plate to move the meat to because I have an allergy to salad and dressing. As a result, I ended up eating about 80% of the meat on its own, which was dry and overcooked, before the chips even arrived. There was no apology offered and it seemed pointless to ask for a manager since all the staff were quite young. While the place has been renovated, it was surprisingly empty. With such poor service and food quality, I certainly won’t be returning anytime soon!"

"Been here before but not for a while, probably 3 years ago, food extremely unloved, no type or finesse just slapped on a plate , no salad or garnish , 10 for presentation, chicken chat starter was dry plain chicken breast in brown unpleasant tasting sauce, king prawn Kushboo over cooked prawn in a weird black sauce very unappealing to the eye and not a great taste, onion Bhaji ok but only 2 in a portion, peshwari naan was more like a plain naan very little filing and very small, The wine bottle of Chenin blanc turned up at table hadn’t been in fridge and was at room temperature, after tasting got offered ice to put in wine , declined offer of ice and sent back bottle, ordered a bottle of Italian sparkling rose from wine menu, given Spanish rose cava, not shown bottle or given opportunity to taste, sent back also also as too sweet for our liking would never of ordered Spanish cava from menu, overall just terrible and disappointing , reading other reviews cannot believe or understand other ratings maybe other clientele need to get out more or haven’t tried a really good Indian restaurant previously"

"The pub itself is attractive and has a nice courtyard garden. High hopes! We ordered 4 meals. 3 roasts and a burger. Sadly, the roast for the price) was disappointing. The potatoes were hard, pale and dry maybe re heated). Roast potatoes should be crisp on the outside and fluffy inside right? There were no 'mixed greens ' as stated on the menu. Just a piece of broccoli. The meat was ok and the yorkshire pudding was very good. For the price £16.95) I would have expected a far higher standard of food. The burger was inedible. It was a frozen patty my son removed the burger from the bun after one bite and put chips in the bun instead. Not really £14.95 's worth! Two of us visited the bar and on both occasions staff were chatting amongst themselves and ignoring customers. Unfortunatley, we won 't be eating here again."

"we have just returned from a 1 night stay in the mayflower suite at the pier and we have loved each minute of it. we have booked the fabulous February offer that the room, a rose and chocolate truffle, a bottle of tattinger champagne, 3-course dinner (with free choice from the full menu and breakfast the next day. it was worth every penny! the room, located in a separate building next to the main hotel, was one of the best we have in great and super comfortable with a great view of the harbour. the building has a great lounge where we enjoyed our champagne pre dinner. the evening was next to the main hotel. the restaurant is modern and has a real hauch of luxus. eating was presented by an exceptional standard beautiful and absolutely delicious (the sticky toffe pudding is the best thing I ever smashed! . After dinner we went down to enjoy a few drinks in the bar navyard that was incredibly well equipped. it is really a Gin lover paradise! the breakfast next morning was not disappointing, which shows the same high standard as the night before with the free choice of cooked options as well as pastries, fresh baked goods and juices. the staff were friendly and attentive and seemed to really enjoy their jobs that is on the quality of the Milsoms chain. there is not really much to see and do in the harbour, but we found a few small gems the caffe on the pier and a large pub there alma just around the corner."

"I had an unfortunate experience at a restaurant recently. I suggested we have a family lunch there, but unfortunately, they were not prepared. After waiting for an hour, we were informed that they had run out of cooked rice for one of our dishes and asked if we were willing to wait an additional 20 minutes for more to be made. Hungry and frustrated, we ended up ordering fries which did not complement the dish at all. The food was served sporadically, with the lamb chops being delayed because the gravy was still being made. It was a disastrous meal and I felt really disappointed. The Red Lion used to be a great restaurant, but this experience was a letdown. The waitress apologized and took £10 off our bill, but it didn't make up for our overall disappointment."

"I recently visited a nice, clean pub called Spoons with a great selection of real ales on tap. The service was good, but my only complaint is that the disabled toilet also serves as the only baby changing facility. This can sometimes cause frustration among disabled individuals. I had to politely ask someone to wait while I changed my son. If Spoons could address this issue by providing baby changing stations in the main restrooms, it would greatly improve the overall experience for everyone."
