"Came here for dinner. Ordered the onion bhajees £3.90) which were very dense. Also had the prawn puri £5.50), which was okay but the wholemeal wrap overpowered the taste of the dish. Then had the cochin prawn curry £9.50) which tasted really fresh, and the lamb korma £6.90) which my husband really enjoyed. We also had a pilau rice £2.90) and an egg fried rice £3.90). We also had the sweet coconut paratha £2.90) which again, because of the wholemeal nature of the bread, overpowered the taste of the coconut. Hubby had a large bottle of cobra beer £5.50) and I had a large bottle of mineral water £2.90). Service was good from the majority of people, although we had one woman serving us that was quite miserable and distracted."

"I came across this restaurant while walking to the park. I was served by a friendly woman who made me a delicious oat milk flat white. I regret not asking for the name of the coffee beans, as it was really good. I also purchased a tasty dark sourdough loaf for just over £4. It's nutty and chewy, perfect on its own or as the star of a dish. The loaf was large and seemed well worth the cost compared to supermarket bread. I also indulged in a lemon and polenta cake, as well as a salted caramel brownie, which made for a delightful afternoon tea with my housemate. The selection of sweet and savory treats was excellent, and I plan on returning to try more. I'm happy to have discovered this restaurant, conveniently located for grabbing breakfast or lunch on the way to the park. I noticed they also have a small selection of beers in their fridge. I will definitely be coming back."

"The ‘Thors Hammer’ sharing roast exceeded expectations. It was a showstopper. The succulent meat just fell from the bone and all the sides were super tasty. We were eventually defeated by the portions so went home with plenty of leftovers. We shared the platter between four adults but it could easily feed six or more. Maybe we should have skipped the starters "

"The staff here were all so friendly and even though there wasn’t much on the menu for me to eat (as a vegan) the chef made me a special customised vegan noodle dish which was so tasty! The other members in my group had vegetarian dishes and also loved it so much! Thank you, we’ll be back!"

"I decided to give this restaurant a try, as I usually go to Sushi 54. I was disappointed by the portion sizes, with only 6 slices of cucumber and a small amount of seaweed in the seaweed and cucumber salad for £6. The maki rolls were also very small, about the size of £2 coins. Compared to Sushi 54, I felt like I was being ripped off. When I called to complain, the manager laughed, so I won't be returning. I hope this review helps set your expectations if you choose to order from here. Stick with Sushi 54 for better value."

"We were greeted by the most friendly waitress who made our entire group feel at ease. Before I left, she gave me a compliment that made me feel appreciated, prompting me to write this review. It's always a great experience to encounter servers who are genuinely nice. The service she provided was exceptional throughout the meal, especially considering we requested a table late in the evening, which can be challenging to accommodate. The waitress who served our table of 6, including two vegan pizzas, at around 10:00pm on Friday, July 12th, was incredibly kind and deserves recognition for her outstanding service."

"Why this place has so many positive reviews is beyond me. Ordered take away twice now from there. Wanted to give it a second chance after mediocre initial experience, but nope... Maybe their meat based food is better but the veggie options are mostly bland and worse that most other places I ordered from. Large portion sizes for reasonable prices don'take up for disappointing taste. Definitely not coming back. Vegetarians stay away!"

"Booked a table for 7 for my son’s birthday on the basis of the very high TripAdvisor ranking and reviews and was not disappointed! All the food was really good ,and,in particular, the steaks which were highly quality meats cooked to perfection in the case of each order and which varied greatly! However worth also noting that the starters were varied and very tasty.Reasonably priced drinks and a decent wine choice. All in all would definitely recommend and we shall be going back."

"I came here with a few friends for a quiet reunion drink one Friday evening. We had a friend visiting from abroad, we were in the neighborhood and liked the look of The Pig and Whistle. It's laid out nicely, with a good amount of seating and a decent selection of beers and spirits on offer as well. Staff were also friendly enough. Before long, we were all enjoying a beer and catching up with each other. My big issue was when I went up to get a few drinks a couple of hours in. We weren't going to be staying out much longer so I thought I'd switch to spirits. I ordered a double whisky for myself (Talisker, neat), a G&T (double Bombay sapphire) and a pint of ale. This came to £27.30. I must not have heard the bar lady at the time or I would have questioned this, but I was naturally shocked when I saw this on my receipts later on. I've been to pubs in Central London where I could have gotten all of the above for considerably less. I know that Youngs pubs are often a bit pricier but I thought that was pushing it. I don't know if the bar staff made a mistake or if it really is that pricey, but I certainly was not expecting that from a local pub on the outskirts of Wimbledon. I'd be happy to discuss this with a manager or member of staff from the pub, but as it stands I'm still left with a very bitter aftertaste and will not be returning."

"Having eaten at this establish countless times before during my childhood, it seemed the perfect place to remedy the vestiges of alcohol in our system from the night before. Eagerly, my friends and I downloaded the Pizza Express app, a clever scheme by the restaurant to encourage students such as ourselves to visit the restaurant given the billion pound debt faced by the company. My friends both enjoyed a free dough ball dish for signing up whilst I refrained from ordering due to lack of appetite, saving my deals for another day. The food, as expected, was bog-standard, run-of-the-mill pizza express, food that we have all had before and will most likely have again. This was just about nice enough to justify the expenditure due to lack of proper competition in the area and the proximity of the restaurant. However, that being said, it was slightly sloppy, stodgy and lacking structure, typical to that of pizza express pizzas. No major complaints arose from the quality of the food as it was no different to that purchased usually from pizza express. However, our qualms with the experience arose from the mistreatment of our group by the staff. The attitude of staff was blunt in the settling of the bill, which had to be adjusted only once to include our offers on the app, necessitating the printing of a single extra receipt. This was met with frustration and disdain despite the fact that my friends had never used the app before and were unfamiliar with its operation. Given that my demographic, younger students who may not normally opt to eat there without the deals, is the target of these schemes, I was surprised by such shortness from the staff and at the different treatment given to young adults. That being said, the staff were, on the whole, very helpful. However, it is such a shame that only one waiter in particular ruined the experience over such a trivial issue. On the whole, the food was just about up to standard. However, we left with a bitter taste in our mouths and the desire to leave a review for the first time given that this behaviour was so out of order."

"This place is not for me! Not sure I undrstand being so popular, the place is stuffy and smelly, the staff is not welcoming or smiley sorry but you chose to work in hospitality, at least you make an effort). The food and drinks are nothing special and overpriced! Sorry but NO!!"

"a new article by evening standard boasted that “Tooting is official rooting” and as here at the slb we were particularly pleased that “South is not the new east, it is better”. the standard is not alone in these views and since the prices for home and rental the young profis have slowly pushed further out of zone 1, inevitably new social centers begin to recover. tooting has long been characterized as an up and up area, as it is located partly close to popular clapham and balham, in addition to it is served by the northern line. for those who are familiar with the contrary, they will also know that tooting is home to a good selection of byo Asian restaurants, and the free entry late...read more"

"The restaurant is cosy and located in an inauspicious area of Putney, away from the high street so not instantly an obvious dinner choice in this popular part of town. From the outside, the property looks a little dated and cramped, but this hides it's traditional and homely vibe. The staff were friendly and attentive from the outset- the first table my friend and I were sat at had a slight wobble, but the waiter noticed this and moved us straight away before it had even really come to our attention. We were given a detailed run through of the specials and never felt rushed to make our choices, though predictably they were keen for us to try as many of their delicacies as possible. We skipped starters and went straight to mains, my Wild Boar with Tagliatelle was delightful, not too rich and the flavours of the meat were not dulled by an abundance of sauce. My tastes are slightly more basic than some, so I for one appreciated the pasta being softer, though I know most would probably prefer it slightly more al dente. My friend had the special ravioli of the day (spinach and ricotta), which was also reportedly very nice. There was an extensive wine menu to choose from, I'm not an expert myself but my friend picked an Italian Merlot that was well described in the menu, which was reasonably priced. The overall bill for two mains, a bottle of wine and post meal tea and coffee was a little under £70 in total, which I would say is fairly reasonable for a restaurant of this authenticity. I paid in cash, which I know is fairly unusual these days, but it was a surprise when the waiter apologised that they did not have any change that night. This was not an issue as this covered a tip, but I realise this would be annoying if there was a less enjoyable visit. I have already recommended Isola Del Sole to friends and will continue to do so- this is an enjoyable culinary experience in Putney that made for a very satisfying Thursday evening!"

"After visiting an Asian wedding exhibition last year for our wedding in July 2013, we were recommended to try a vendor based in Tooting called Deelicious Nazish 's kitchen . My wife and I don 't eat egg or egg products, and we knew the difficulties in baking eggless cakes that did not turn out to be dense as bricks, let alone wedding cakes! We both went to the cake tasting and were presently surprised on how light, moist and tasty the cakes were (with a special mention to the butter cream used). We both looked at each other and we knew we wanted Nazish to bake our wedding cake. Nazish was very helpful in delivering the cake for the day and her her team 's decoration skills were excellent and personal to our theme. Everyone complimented the presentation of our grand 5 tiered vanilla cake, and could not even tell the cake was eggless! A full 5 stars for the product and I recommend trying her cakes egg or eggless."

"Party of 5 family all had meals and drinks. Four had fish and chips which was lovely albeit mushy peas was a bit weird! I had pork and fennel sausages with mashed Jersey potatoes which was lovely and whilst didn’t look much in terms of amount it certainly filled me up enough but left room for choc brownies which 2 of us had although big with ice cream, one was softer and moister than the other but still nice. Would go back if around that area. Thanks guys for nice service"

"In addition to the outstanding coffee, illmolino offers a selection of delectable pastries and light bites. I couldn't resist trying the almond croissant, and it exceeded my expectations. Freshly baked and flaky, it paired perfectly with my flatwhite the guy over there deserve special commendation for their friendly and attentive service. he was knowledgeable about the menu and genuinely enthusiastic about sharing their love for coffee. The attention to detail, from the presentation of the drinks to the cleanliness of the space, further enhanced the overall experience."

"Have been to The Selkirk a handful of times over the past few years since we live nearby, but this time we visited for Sunday lunch with family who don’t live in the area, including two kids 10 and 8 years old. Food was really delicious (2 had roast pork, 4 had roast beef, and one veggie roast) service was great and so friendly, and good atmosphere in the pub. They clearly take a lot of pride in the food and service. It appeared that every indoor table was booked when we were there, so book ahead!"

"Where do I start? the place is disgustingly dirty from the sticky floors, clogged toilets and the unhinged tables. I was accompanied by 5 friends who were hoping to get a roast. We got to the table at 5:55pm to be told that the chefs threw all of the roasts out and there is now no roasts for the day whilst the staff indulged into their roasts whenever they got a break.. After this, when my friend ordered a chicken burger, he wanted to share this with his girlfriend so he asked the waitress does the chef have a good knife in the back where he can cut this in half properly to which she replied No, I am afraid you have to do this yourself as we do not do this here.. Shocked already, we proceeded to move on and when my other friend was ordering a drink, the barman goes cant you see that I am busy??? absolute terrible hospitality. Then I went to the bar to order a drink and the staff were cleaning up, I said can I please have a gls of wine to which they responded can you not tell I am doing something to which then I decided I DID NOT WANT TO GIVE ANYMORE MONEY TO THIS PLACE. One of the waiters with his pants around his ankles then brakes a glass beside our table and just leaves this there for other people to get injured. Then I ask again, please can I have a gls of wine to which he said to be honest man, we are closing in an hour so I am not bothered to open up a new tab I dont know why he thought we needed a new tab as we were paying as you go?????? To conclude, just dont bother going, there is so many other cool/welcoming places in London like another pub closer to Battersea Powerstation who were sooo happy to welcome us (and they were closing in 15 mins). If you do decided to go, best of luck. To the team, maybe consider hiring new people? or atleast provide training to motivate because they are all useless."

"My boyfriend and I came here for lunch after an appointment at the St.George’s hospital nearby. We live in Brighton. I had read good reviews it did not disappoint. The waitress was nice, I asked her to recommend starters mains as I didn’t know what anything was. I can’t remember the name of the starter but it was delicious, I have a photo. The other was veg samosas, which I chose. The mains were chefs special lamb curry prawn curry. With plain rice a bread I don’t know the name of, but is in the other photo. All was very special, we were very impressed. Would definitely recommend!"
