"Manta schliesst offiziell um 15.00 h. Ich betrat um 15.03 h das Lokal, um noch ein Sandwich zu kaufen. Ich wollte nichts trinken, als kein Geschirr brauchen, sondern nur ein Sandwich erstehen. Zwei Damen waren am Aufräumen, die eine reinigte die Kaffeemaschine. Einige unverkaufte Sandwiches befanden sich noch in der Auslage. Man gab mir jedoch deutlich zu verstehen, dass das Lokal jetzt geschlossen sei (die Türe stand noch weit offen) und es nichts mehr zu kaufen gäbe.Man möge jetzt raten, ob ich da jemals wieder hingehen werde..."

"As I often do, I just look on the internet on a Sunday to see which restaurant is open and so we drove from Lake Zurich to Winterthur and definitely had another very positive surprise in this restaurant! With another very friendly reservation, we drove there according to the navigation and until now I have never heard, seen or read anything about this restaurant or this area high above Winterthur and for that reason alone we were extremely surprised, even though the weather was bad. When we got there, we were immediately escorted to a beautiful table that was already quite impressive with a white tablecloth and cloth napkins, and when we were allowed to study the menu it was finally proven that there are still restaurants with Stihl and with a selection of what others have Restaurants can only dream! Of course we hadn't already eaten from the selection, but what we got was really of the highest quality, even though there were two souls in the background that were completely full and there wasn't a single table around us available and it was just then possible to bring this quality , was really surprising and extremely satisfactory and more than exemplary! My sincere compliments and we will be going there again soon to eat because here in our area on Lake Zurich I don't know of any restaurant with this quality and this selection. I also grabbed the chef there and told him how great we thought it was because you really should pass on the compliments personally when you experience something so positive"

"Seit meinem letzten Besuch in 2013 hat wohl ein Besitzer-/ Leitungswechsel stattgefunden und der Gast muss leider empfindliche Qualitätseinbusse hinnehmen -oder in ein Lokal auf der Stadtseite wechseln.Mein Steak war -trotz Beteuerung der Bedienung- an der Oberfläche mit einem "Schredder" bearbeitet worden, was ich nicht mag. Es wurde nicht gefragt ob ich es langsam (englisch) oder schnell bei hoher Hitze (amerikanisch) angebraten gern habe. Fleisch war guter Qualität, aber die Zubereitung hat nicht ganz gestimmt.Das angebliche "Frühlingsgemüse" mag vielleicht in Spanien im Frühling wachsen. Rüebli, Romanesco, Tomaten, Peperoni etc. sind bei uns im Sommer fällig. Manager Ganesh: "Auch Spargel ist z.B. ein Frühlingsgemüse". Ja, der schon, aber nicht das Gemüse auf meinem Teller. Die in 2013 sehr, sehr guten Saucen sind heute zum Abwinken: Zwei rote Chili-Langweiler, ein 08:15 Kräuterbuttertöpfchen und etwas Grünes im halb kompostierten Zustand. Die sehr junge, blonde Bedienung meinte pikiert "also mir schmeckt's!" ihre Kompetenzen klar überschreitend. Der leichte argentinische Malbec war OK, reicht als Grund für einen Restaurantbesuch jedoch keineswegs."

"through the old town, which is beautiful, we were hungry, but were looking for something different than a hot lunch in a normal restaurant. we stumbled exactly what we needed. we saw the selection of the great salate, the place was full of men, largely. we ordered the focaccia with nasalat, and, understanding focaccia as a little more dry normally, were pleased to have a type focaccia sandwich filled with as we had chosen from a choice) tomatenmozzarella and basilikum pesto, with a generous sidealat and a good amount of dressing again a choice.) this was absolutely ideal for a very hot day, refreshing. we followed with good coffee ice creams. absolutely tasty and in a quiet backwater, quiet and beautiful."

"I go here whenever I dont have something to eat at home and want something healthy. There is a wide variety of vegetarian foods all of which very good. If you are less hungry you can get salads and smaller portions but they also have heartier and more filling foods. My personal favorites are the jalapeno poppers dipped in some of the homemade sauces. They have very small glasses for water so if you are very thirsty you can just ask for a bigger glass at the counter. There is also very nice inside and outside dining with a very nice ambience."

"I went a couple of times with my colleagues for lunch to ocean five and the overall impression is good, the quality of the food is also good. The restaurant have many tables outside in a sunny square, it is one of the few restaurants...in downtown Winterthur were you could eat under the sun (specially enjoyable in spring). However we had to wait quite a long time to get our plates. If you have a one-hour lunch break it can become tight."

"Ein wirklich schönes Bistro an einem der schönsten Plätze in der Stadt Winterthur, am Oberen Graben. Der Alltag ist gut besucht von einem breiten Publikum. Ein Besuch lohnt sich für den Znüni Kaffe, den Apéro, das Feierabend Bier oder Wein bis zu einem gemütlichen Abend zum schwatzen und tratschen. Dabei kann man sich auch etwas feines kleines zum Essen gönnen. Man findet auch immer saisonale Getränke die sehr lecker zubereitet sind. Der Services ist top, freundlich, schnell und meistens mit einem kostenlosen lächeln verbunden. Also nichts wie hin zum abspannen, etwas schreiben oder lesen oder einfach zum sein und dem treiben auf dem Oberen Graben zuzusehen."

"Die weibliche Bedienung (mittags am 21.7. auf der Terrasse) war äusserst aufmerksam und reagierte genial, als wir ein Haar auf dem Kalbsschnitzel fanden und entfernten. Wir hätten vermutlich weitergegessen und es auf sich beruhen lassen. Sie hatte es jedoch aus der Entfernung realisiert, das da was war, fragte nach und brachte rasch einen adäquaten Ersatz. Der Chef de service kam wenig später hinzu, entschuldigte sich in aller Form und versprach einen Kaffee oder etwas Ähnliches. Wir waren begeistert. Die Begeisterung schlug jedoch später um in Enttäuschung, da uns der Kaffee nie erreichte...Nebenbei sei noch erwähnt, dass sich die Salzkartoffeln zum Eglifilet als ein Mix aus Gschwellti und Ofenkartoffel herausstellten; für meinen Begriff zu hart, haarscharf an der Grenze zum nicht ganz gar sein. Trifft auch auf das Gemüse zu (Beilage Kalbsschnitzel), super al dente und der Bumenkohl hatte einen leicht säuerlichen Beigeschmack (was immer auch der Grund dafür gewesen sein mag, man kann es nur ahnen...). Hingegen waren die Desserts (Tiramisu) erstklassig. Jungs vom National: Das könnt Ihr besser! Viel besser. Siehe mein Lob vom Oktober 2016 in Sachen Brunch..."

"Wir hatten einen Gutschein aus der Geschenkbox, deshalb war das Menü vorgegebenen.Der Empfang war sehr freundlich, der Tisch gut platziert. Das Cüppli zur Begrüssung war eine tolle Geste. Die Kürbissuppe hat gut geschmeckt.Das Perlhuhn der Hauptspeise inkl. Beilagen und Gemüse hat gut geschmeckt. Das selbe gilt für das Dessert, Zwetschgenkompott mit Zimteis.Überrascht waren wir bei der Verabschiedung, das feine Zöpfli mit Confi war eine super Idee Danke!"

"Ich habe eine ziemlich schlimme Glutamat- Allergie (Mononatriumglutamat E621), weshalb ich so gut wie gar nicht mehr in asiatischen Restaurants essen gehe. Diese benutzen das Zeug einfach viel zu oft. Aber an diesem Abend traute ich mich und ass im Negishi ein Stück Sushi (ich hatte vorher noch nie welches gegessen und hab mich nur zu diesem überreden lassen können :D) und die Chubut Run- Suppe. Diese war extrem gut und ich hätte eigentlich schwören können, dass dort Glutamat drinnen ist, da sie sehr aromatisch und intensiv schmeckte. Aber die allergische Reaktion blieb aus, was mich sehr gefreut hat. Das heisst, ich werde nun dort öfter mal eine Suppe essen oder bestellen!Das Ambiente gefällt mir gut, recht einfach und unaufdringlich gehalten und dennoch gemütlich. Leider fehlen mir dort Parkplätze, aber das ist ja nicht selten in der Schweiz."

"Sadly the typical Swiss potato) Rösti offered are not gluten free made also with normal wheat flour but staff knew about it and were knowledgeable about gf) so I was advised by staff had to switch to the only gf option which was a small pizza called „Brauer Hefeteigfladen“ which is declared a gf option in the menu. It was a totally self made crust and very yummy. Because of this I asked the waiter twice if it was really gluten free and he confirmed that. As I had no immediate health issues after that I am not celiac but very sensitive to gluten and especially wheat in general) I was very optimistic it would be a good place for gf eaters and wrote my initial remark here. When mid next day the first typical symptoms of gluten contamination started I knew the place is not clean at all and cross contamination must be an issue in this kitchen! The symptoms stretched over several days as I had it before. Therefore I cannot recommend this place although my meal tasted good. I visited the first and last time ; Menu in German: [hidden link]"

"Konnte dieses Restaurant immer nur empfehlen. Jedoch hatte ich heute ein Erlebnis das ich keinem Kunden wünschen kann. Wen Du als Gast nach sehr langer Wartezeit vom Tisch aufstehen musst und Dir nur der Weg zur Bar bleibt damit Du Dir gehör verschaffen kannst ist das sehr ärgerlich. Jedoch selbst nach 2-fachem Weg an die Bar immer noch ignoriert wirst ist das schon sehr Kundenfeindlich. Von der Bedinung wurde verlangt das ich 45 Min warten muss bevor ich weiteressen kann! Jahrelang nur sehr gutes Berichten konnte, jedoch nach dem heutigen *Abendessen* was ich kalt Essen musste trotz 45Min Wartezeit kann ich nur jedem abraten diese Restaurant zu wählen, solange eine solch schlechte und in unerhört frechen Ausdrucksweise bedienendes Personal anwesend ist. Sehr enttäuschter Gast !"

"Our first visit on Saturday evening. We were shown the reserved table without waiting. However, we sat for ten minutes without a map or service until the first contact was made. A laminated menu with labels on both sides was all. We had to ask for everything for the drinks, strange method. The food came pretty quickly after about 20 to 30 minutes and tasted average. The outdoor area is very large, the service is sometimes overwhelmed by the number of guests and is limited to the most necessary communication. I found the design of the terrace to be simple. Conclusion: It's not enough for a recommendation or a second visit, especially since the prices are set quite high."

The only flaw: if you order children's menus from the automatic panels it is not possible to choose water as a drink, but only soft drinks (juices...tea... . Nevertheless, if I would compare it with many other restaurants I had recently, I must say: this is a very beautiful surprise. essential: straight forward, grounded, fresh kitchen. nothing refined, but a beautiful fish pizza... for the children. fresh made. and very tasty calf liver and beautiful rösti for me. service: very friendly, while completely to earth. place: we sat in front of the largest park in winterthur. rustic and beautiful with a huge playground for children right in front of them. all in all: a place to return to a pleasant evening with friends and family."
