"We had lunch here today as we were in Evesham visiting the Christmas market. There were 7 of us and as requested we had pre booked our meals a couple of days ago because there were more than 6 of us, but it was a very easy process. We were seated immediately, drinks orders taken quickly and service was efficient and impeccable throughout. All the staff we met were really lovely too. Food was delicious. Atmosphere friendly and informal. Everyone else in the cafe looked like they were enjoying their experiences too, which is always a good sign. We're a pretty omnivorous bunch although two of our friends are Vegan and without exception we were all happy we'd chosen here for lunch. Wish we'd had room for dessert too, as the cakes looked great. Will be back."

"it was easy to book a table in the swan and the menu offered a suitable choice of Sunday dinners and other dishes. it was disappointing that food allergies and intolerances are not listed on the menu and no vegan options were shown. when I asked, I got a plastic folder with a vegan menu with limited choices. not really what I would expect from a restaurant of this kaliber. the food was very good and the service was also good. Unfortunately, our table was right next to two sleeping machines that ran at full explosion, making the conversation more difficult. the couple behind us heard us complain and told us that they had already complained and no acts were taken. the machines were switched off for a short time, but were switched on again. alone from this reason, although eating and service were good, I would like to come back unless I could be guaranteed a quieter table."

"The food here is fabulous. The place is only let down by the service. My 3 stars are for the chef and their team in the kitchen. We had a seafood platter to start which had some amazing tastes. The best thing on that platter being the smoked mackerel pate. For mains I had the lamb burger with goats cheese and my husband had the pie of the day (chicken and tarragon) both bursting with flavour and beautifully cooked. All the food eaten was excellent value for money. The decor here is quirky love the bottle covered ceiling. Seating is nicely arranged. This place should be getting 5 stars every time if it were not for the staff serving. Numerous times we had to try and get the attention of the numerous young ladies serving. They were so busy chatting that we would have to go to the bar to pay as none of them were looking up to notice numerous people putting their hands up to get service. The room too was getting quite cold before we left. I thought it was the large gap under the fire exit near our table, but it would turn out to be the door to the beer garden that was wide open that was making everyone near it put on their coats (luckily we were sat quite a way from it). If the staff had been paying attention they would surely have closed the door. Some staff training would go a long way in this restaurant. I’m sure ourselves and others would have spent a lot more on drinks and food if we’d been able to get served and had the place been warm enough with the simple closure of a door."

"We (family of four with a teen pre-teen are staying in Childswickham just outside Broadway for a weeks holiday so thought we’d try the Childswickham Inn Brasserie as we could walk there through the pretty village, it has great reviews and it’s dog friendly. We booked for a Friday evening and were given our choice of tables in the very pretty garden area. Everything about the place is wonderful. The pub itself is a lovely country style inn with a very warm welcoming atmosphere. The outdoor area is beautiful with a lit pergola under canvas canopies and very comfortable chairs and roomy tables. The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful and made a fuss of our two Labradors. The food was superb. Honestly some of the best traditional-but-next-level pub fare we’ve ever had. I had the pie of the day which was lamb, husband had Cumberland sausages and the kids had burgers. All completely homemade, served quickly, fresh piping hot and with generous portions. Husband suffered from extreme pie envy when he tasted my dish! We couldn’t resist the puds so opted for sticky toffee puddings and chocolate brownie. Again, all homemade, generously portioned and utterly delicious. The food was so good we decided to spend our final meal here and opted for Sunday lunch. We all had sirloin of beef which were served with the best (and biggest! Yorkshire puddings we’ve ever had. We’re from Yorkshire and we know a perfect Yorkie when we see (and taste one and these deserve the highest praise. The beef was perfectly cooked, thickly cut and it melted in the mouth. It was served with a generous portion of roast potatoes, cheesy leeks (a personal favourite! , a selection of perfectly cooked veg lovely rich gravy. Desserts were equally fabulous. Genuinely up there with the best food we’ve ever eaten and exceptionally good value. I just wish it was closer to home as we’d be returning constantly! I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Perfect food, wonderful service, lovely ambience and surroundings and great value, more than deserving of five stars. Thank you for two wonderful visits, you were a highlight of our holiday!"

"We have met friends here for lunch a number of times, but this wasn’t our best experience unfortunately. Our table was in a smallish room with low ceiling and families with small children already there not their fault, but the noise level was uncomfortable. Starters were good, but three of us chose beef for the main course and it was poor— very tough and hard to cut, with a lot of fat and gristle. Our waitress was very helpful and reported this to the Manager and then came back to say that we would be given 50% of the cost of the beef meals. That seemed fair, but we’d have preferred to have been able to eat and enjoy it."

"I visited Eckington Manor to celebrate a milestone birthday for my better half. I had booked in for the 7 course taster menus and over night stay. The location is a a must, gorgeous surroundings and a fantastic location close to the town of Pershore, surrounded by the Malvern Hills in the county of Worcestershire. We arrived at Ekington Manor for around 5pm. Check in is on the ground floor of the restaurant building but not obvious, but was eventually greeted by one of the staff who were more than happy to help. Our evening meal was booked for 7:30pm which was perfect as this gave time to have a wonder around Elkington village before getting ready. The 7 course taster menu was a great choice. Giving great variety and tastes. I had opted for the accompanying wine flight which again is well worth adding to your experience to compliment the food through each of the courses. The accommodation was very well laid out and perfectly in charge yet for the building period. Our room was in the main building surrounded by original beams and signs of when the building would have been used with a central fire place back in its original time. Breakfast included lunch with the accommodation was a delight and a perfect finish to a great weekend. We even had time to pop over to Stratford on our way back. Thank you to all the staff for a delightful time and superb meal."

"Just stayed here for 2nights. On arrival we had been moved rooms, we had an upgrade to the one bedroom apartment with river views. Stunning room, friendly staff, clean and tidy in all areas. We ate on site both nights, slight delay in getting food but well worth the wait. We had full English breakfast too and great breakfast for £10. Well worth a visit. Food drinks: We had gammon, burger, fish and braised brisket over 2 nights.all superb and bread and butter pudding was to die for. "We were really looking forward to a home made traditional Sunday roast. Unfortunately we did not get that. We had a bit of a wait which was fine, then we were told no Yorkshire puddings left so we were OK with that. When the food came, it was tinned carrots, runner beans, frozen cauliflower, the roast potatoes were lovely and then there was the beef. I've never had such chewy beef in my life to the point I didn't eat it and what I did chew ended up in my napkin. The waitress asked if the food was OK, I said the beef was really chewy, had no feedback from that. Its a lovely pub but as far as food will not be returning for any."

"Stayed here on a stop over 23rd Sept. Came here on the strength of Jon-79 absolutely rubbish review! He couldn't of made it sound better for us. What a pack of lies!! The staff and locals were so friendly and nice. We felt so welcome. Also made our dogs very welcome too. Both the food and drinks were very reasonable priced and big portions of food. Nice canal side location and the weather helped them be busy but didn't affect our service! Would totally recommend this place and definitely ignore the rubbish reviews, absolutely tosh! Vegetarian options: We had a selection of starters and side. The garlic mushrooms were great as was the mac and cheese, pan fried potatoes and deep fried Camambert. All big portions and totally delicious! Parking: Plenty of parking."

"We went for lunch. We hadn't been here before so were unsure what to expect. My partner ordered the big breakfast, I ordered a jacket potato with tuna and sweetcorn. We were very pleasantly surprised. Very friendly service which was super speedy, even though they were virtually at capacity. The components of the breakfast were good quality and it was cooked well. The potato was cooked properly and had lots of real butter in it, there was a BIG pile of tuna and sweetcorn to add as required and the biggest side salad I've ever had. It had everything imaginable in it, even pomegranate, pineapple and asparagus plus two types of coleslaw. Good value for money. We would definitely recommend it and will be going again."

"I don't normally feel moved to post reviews but, after we randomly picked the Oak for something to eat on a Saturday lunchtime, I thought they should get some coverage. The food was over and above what you would expect to find in a pub on the high street. Our meals were all of restaurant quality. The building itself is a traditional English pub although not your standard mock Tudor place; this being Evesham, it was authentically of the period. The interior, however, had a more contemporary feel but with traditional touches like a real open fire. We were out of its range but the flames could've benefited from a fire guard when the wood started spitting! We lived to tell the tale though... Finally, the staff were all what you'd want them to be, both hospitable and helpful."

"While staying nearby for a few days, we received a recommendation to dine at The Swan. Despite the rainy weather, we booked a table for lunch on Sunday and went for a scenic walk from Pershore to work up an appetite. The pub was cozy and inviting, as were the staff. Even though we were in wellies and a bit damp, we were welcomed into the restaurant where we dried off and enjoyed a fantastic lunch. The place was packed, which is no surprise given the delicious food and excellent service. The outdoor garden booths looked charming, even though they were empty that day. I ordered the large fish and chips, which was perfectly cooked and not greasy, while my companion enjoyed the tasty mixed grill. The chocolate mousse dessert was rich and satisfying, especially the accompanying shortbread biscuit. We had a great meal and will definitely return if we are in the area again. Price range per person: £20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5"

"I had a disappointing experience at this cafe today. The two staff members at the counter were quite miserable. I wanted to order a panini and coffee to go, as the cafe was full. When I noticed some people leaving, I asked the lady at the till if I could quickly eat my panini at one of the tables. The other lady who was cleaning the tables rudely told me that there were people waiting for the table outside, so she had to clean it. I was taken aback by her tone, but didn't say anything. Fortunately, an elderly lady leaving the cafe noticed my discomfort and kindly offered me her table. This made me feel more welcome. When the first lady finally served me my panini, all I could see was her frowning face. I even had to reassure her that I wouldn't take long, but she still didn't say a word. I left feeling disappointed and unwelcome. I believe that being hospitable and treating customers with kindness goes a long way. Unfortunately, I won't be returning to this cafe and I wouldn't recommend it to others. It's not just about serving food, but also about making customers feel welcome and valued. Sometimes a simple smile can make a big difference."

"We were away for a weekend break and we booked a table for two in advance. When we arrived the bartender addressed me as sir and said that he’d reserved a table for us by the fire, or we could sit in the main restaurant if we preferred. The food was absolutely banging and full of flavour. Our waitress, Ellie, who was only on her fifth shift was attentive, humorous and really made us feel special. We’ll defo be back to work our way through the entire menu."

"Moved to the area end of last year and tried this Chinese, as they all have mixed reviews. Ordered takeaway, grumpy telephone host said it would be £7 delivery, well, I’m 5 miles out of Evesham so okay, BUT I guess I’m used to very high quality Chinese food where I lived before, as this barely scored mediocre. Stodgy noodles, sugary artificial pink sweet and sour sauce. I’d say cheap and nasty except it wasn’t cheap. I can only think that those that give it good reviews have never had great Chinese food. Maybe there isn’t a good one round here. But, ever hopeful, I’ll try the River Avon next and report back."

"Firstly a 60th birthday celebration. 6 guests pre booked. We'd been sat waiting for 30 mins for any sort of service. I had the starter of crabcakes which at best was Very bland in flavour served alongside some green leaves with a smattering of mayonnaise. Mains was Roast pork which turned out to be belly draft very fatty served with cold then reheated possibly deep fried roast potatoes, thin slice of parsnip , carrot , mashed swede, cabbage and peas. All served Luke warm. If this floats your boat then go but expect to be waiting an eternity to get served. Thank you Chequers you spoiled a lovely day."

"called in while waiting to go into holiday accommodation, used to visit a lot in the late 80's and was really pleased to come back, service good even little Annie got some doggie treats, we went back in the evening for a meal with my relatives and they thoroughly enjoyed their meal and said the vegetables were cooked beautifully and a good selection. I went back the next day to book a table for 1 plus dog and had a steak it was very enjoyable cooked to perfection and good selection of vegetables. would recommend, was too full for pudding."

"beautiful place and sympathetic furnishings. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the Sunday dinner. I have specifically asked for certain sweets to which I have a disgust, not to be served. but they were still on my teller. they were removed on request. the cauliflower cheese was poor and I was served only 3 pretty hard brat potatoes. if I had not been saved by my wife's Yorkshire doll, I would have had hunger. Finally, servier staff needed a reminder of the Dessert menu, as they seemed to forget us. if I had asked if I had enjoyed my lunch, I would have been honest and said no. but we weren't asked, so I'm here. that said the outside looks beautiful and looks like a nice place to drink on a warm sunny day."

"We visited the March hare today for my nieces 14th birthday, had a 3 course meal for £12 which is a bargain and carvery is always amazing here) there was 8 of us, everybody’s starter came out but not mine, when I asked the young lad where my soup was, he said the chef is preparing it, 5 mins later as everyone had finish their starter mine has still not arrived, asked the young lad again where my soup was as everyone had fined theirs, he replied it’s not my fault go to the chef as he is preparing it, and your party are still eating, I replied yes a child is still eating but all adults have finished, he replied what ever. So I asked him what his name was and he said you don’t need to know my name, so asked a young curly haired girl at the bar what his name was, she replied I’m not telling you his name, I explained he was rude, she replied well you don’t need to know his name and walked off…… absolutely shocking attitude, what happened to customer service and happy customers disgraceful, I will never step foot in that place again"

"The food at this restaurant was delicious, but the service was extremely poor. We felt very uncomfortable as the waitress did not speak, smile, or make us feel welcome. When we asked for more time to decide on our order, she just stood by the wall staring at us, which was very strange. She even removed our mixed starter platter before we had finished and reached over me while I was eating to take away cutlery. Additionally, she tried to take away my sister's plate while she was still eating her main course. Throughout the entire dinner, the waitress did not speak or smile at all. When we received the bill, we asked a male waiter to remove the tip, but were made to feel uncomfortable when he questioned why. We give tips for good customer service, which we did not receive on this occasion. Although he reluctantly removed the tip, we will not be coming back or recommending this restaurant. It's a shame because it used to be fantastic, but it seems they need to provide customer service training to their front of house staff."
