"Food was nice. What totally let this place down was the staff members sloppy attitude to hygiene. No hand soap in any of their 3 toilets. Having tried all three, one of their taps were running on full, I tried to turn it off but it was too stiff. I told the front of house staff member of the lack of soap and the running tap and she told me she knew about both but looked unwilling to do anything about it. If they want more than one star from me then they need to sort out their facilities. I had to wash my hands in their kitchen area, not ideal to say the least. A family member recommended the place and felt the need to apologise following that experience. Your guests shouldn't be embarrassed about recommending your business, shame on your staff for not addressing the two very basic issues. Brighton and Hove health and hygiene team must be very sloppy for giving you 5 hygiene stars."

"Well where do I start with the tavern team....I've worked in Customer Relation for 20yrs plus and I've part run my own business so I know service and have witnessed so service that has made me cringe. The team at the tavern made me so welcome it's become my go to place to relax and reflect on some tough days for me personally. The manager hires individuals and allows them to shine and be themselves. Nothing was too much trouble, Harry helped me with some tech issues I had, all were chatty and helpful. I met some truly lovely youngsters who helped me relate to why my 13yrs old was being such a teenager at the moment. Times have been so tough for this industry, they have lost alot of money snd trade because of this virus. So now the virus is going to be the normal let's get out if we can and support our local. Food was good, hospitality 5 stars, range of drinks interesting.....and they laughed at my jokes mostly about Karen's cause I'm a Karen apparently (sorry to all the Karen's I think you rock keep complaining but only if its genuine. Just need Rag and Bone man to play there then it would be 50 stars.....Harry and the stereo King's are playing on the 2nd April so that should be a top night."

"Cold chili cheese bites, saltless chips and flat juice. Furthermore the machine sprayed outside of the machine soaking my partner. On top of all this 40 minutes before closing the restaurant, seating was unavailable, with a mop left in the middle of the floor. This forced us to sit outside, on the very old benches provided, which may need a clean."

"Booked for NYE. When we turned up we were told there was no beef only chicken. At 8:30 on NYE you are stuck with nowhere else to go ! It’s very bad to have run out of the main product your business is basically promoting. Bad forecasting and management. Also 2 of the starters were also not available and gin served in a wine glass ??? Food is ok, but I do think we should have been given at least a discount or free drink due to the lack of Beef !! The whole pay before you eat at the bar cheapens the experience and makes it similar to eating at a Burger King now, plus staff can no longer receive tips. "I came here recently and there was a wait to enter the premises, they operated by taking your number and then calling you when a table was free. I ordered a vegan breakfast, I thought it was good how you could exchange items you didn’t want for something else as usually when I remove items and exchange them in other venues it adds on a charge. The food was nice however the beans were stone cold, they geninely seemed like they had been taken straight from the can without being heated. I was a bit confused about the vegan bacon which was literally cold dried coconut with seasoning something I have never been served anywhere as a vegan of 7 years! I would love it if in future there could be some vegan vegetarian meat substitutes as I plan on coming back in future. The main highlight was the fact the staff were absolutely glowing humans, all so chatty and friendly. Took the time out to come and chat to me as well as every single person who came in and out of the venue, I saw them going out of their ways to open the door for people coming in and out and just over all smiley kind staff, especially the waitress with the brown hair and bob who made my visit! They made nothing seem too much hassle and the fact that they all showed so much kindness with their service made me want to come back in future"

"I went to the restaurant at 1:30 in the morning and was disappointed with the quality of the burger I received. I jokingly told the server that I expected a patty that had been sitting in the warmer for over an hour, and unfortunately, that's exactly what I got. The burger was only lukewarm and not worth the £12 I paid for it. If I had ordered through a delivery service like Uber Eats or Just Eat, I would have requested a refund. I love Burger King, but selling me a subpar burger patty is not acceptable, regardless of the time of day. I recommend anyone ordering from this restaurant to check the temperature of their burger before leaving, as they may need to request a fresh one. The quality of the food should be consistent, whether it's 1 am or 1 pm."
