"We popped in thinking we 'd like a cocktail before meeting friends for dinner. First warning sign was asking for a straight vodka martini, and the barman saying he can 't make one (really? ! And can only make what 's on the menu. Their martini was full of extra fruit and vanilla flavoring, so passed on that. We went for Cosmopolitans instead, the menu suggested that would be pretty close to what a cosmo is sposed to be. It arrived, and I 'm really not sure if it had any alcohol in it, seemed to be just sugar and grapefruit juice. Having drunk copious Cosmopolitans and Vodka martinis in NYC, I know what I 'm sposed to be getting, and this was very much not it. At 14£ per cocktail they are taking the proverbial."

"From booking to payment, an all-round good experience. There is free direct access from the free public car-park behind although there is also free parking in the street outside if available. The request for a table in a quieter area (if there is one) so we can hold a conversation, was listened to and we were pleased to be away from the busy centre. Waiting staff were friendly and service was impeccable with just the right degree of attentiveness at all the right times. The food was delightful both in taste and presentation and the portions very generous. We had to take some home! We will definitely be going back as there is a lot more on the menu we want to try and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening there."

"The staff at Amerigo is incredibly friendly and helpful, as well as efficient. The food was delicious, especially the lamb chops which were the best I've ever had. The portions are generous. We were so impressed with our dinner that we decided to return the next night."

"I visited this restaurant with my fiancée, and we enjoyed a lovely meal. The atmosphere is beautiful, and the interior is spacious, making it easy to accommodate large groups. We started with the cuddly and octopus as appetizers, followed by lobster and Dover sole for our main courses. Everything was incredibly fresh and delicious. The desserts were also lovely, all made in-house. The prices are very reasonable for a seafood restaurant. For those who want something different, there are kebabs and steaks on the menu as well. The owner was very friendly, and the service was excellent. It was quite quiet when we were there, but I sincerely hope this place thrives. It’s a wonderful addition to Southgate!"

"We went here for our anniversary meal, mainly because of the 'secret garden ' location the venue promised. Although the location was very nice, two other establishments occupied the same courtyard. This would not have been such a major factor except for the fact that at least one of the establishments (a cafe) was much, much cheaper and on first introduction their staff were a lot more welcoming: we had battled through traffic to get to Amicis and when we got there 15 minutes late, despite calling half an hour ahead of our booking to let them know we would be late, we received an extremely frosty reception. The reason given for this was that they were extremely busy and our lateness would inconvenience them. However, the place was practically empty for the whole time we were there. That being said, the Octopus starter and the burger which comprised our main meal was very nice. The other main meal and the waldorf salad really was nothing at all special and not particularly substantial. The wine was also very overpriced. I don 't think the food really justifies the price tag and fine dining might be a bit of a stretch. The atmosphere was pleasant but not exactly vibing. The restaurant had asked us to write a review and the manager was very nice in the end, but I can 't help feeling they may have been a little overconfident. The establishment seemed very clean and covid-secure though. In short, if it is the location you were going for and you are a keen home chef- try the cafe next door instead."

"My wife, daughter 2 grandkids we're on a trip to London and rang to book after seeing the very favourable reviews. We wanted to book a table for 5 people at 7.30 but we asked to make it 7.15. No problem. we duly arrived at 7.15 but were told our table would not be ready for 10 mins. Again no real problem except it was in fact 20 minutes. Was a bit surprised that no apology was forthcoming but surely they would ensure we were looked after. We were given menus and asked if we wanted water and we said yes tap water would be fine. Two bottles of mineral water were provided but again no real problem. But that was the last we saw of anyone for a further 15 minutes when I managed to get the attention of the waiter to take our order. We ordered a bottle of wine and some soft drinks but said we'd like to order the food now as well. We got as far as the starter but we told that the items we chose used pizza base and they had none. Does that also mean that you have no pizzas? I asked. No sorry was the reply. Since pizza was explicitly what the kids wanted and we had been there some considerable time, were not told when we were given the menus that there was no pizza based items and that we were not made to feel welcome, we left feely very disappointed and hungry."

"We were there to meet friends and so were not at all pleased when the music was suddenly turned up very loud. We asked for it to be turned down and it was so that’s good but why turn it up in the first place?? We thought that Service was a bit slow. But we love the food and the restaurant is very convenient for us."

"Great food and fast service. We did wait longer then usual to be asked if we wanted any drinks when we sat down, but it wasn't long enough to think we had been forgotten. For a Sunday nyt there was a good atmosphere with a steady flow of diners. Both pizzas we had were very tasty and quick to be served. Please continue to support this resturants Daventry."

"We found this restaurant on a whim and weren't sure what to expect, but it turned out to be a fantastic choice! It’s very popular among locals, which is always a good sign. The service was attentive and personal, and Toni was incredibly charming. The food was outstanding—I was quite full but couldn't resist getting dessert because I didn't want to leave! It was top-notch, and we highly recommend it. On our next trip to London, we'll definitely stay in Clapham again so we can visit Toni’s Amalfi once more."

"I hate to leave bad reviews but this was one of the few times where I’ve gone to a restaurant and quite literally cannot eat the food we were served. The calamari to start was undercooked and rubbery. For mains we both got the seafood linguine. The waiter told us it was freshly bought fish from the market that day however it was one of the worst smelling plates of food I can ever remember having. The fish honestly smelt like it was from the Thames. Neither of us could stomach more than a couple of mouthfuls. The garlic bread was ok, just burnt and not that flavourful. The service was fine it was just the food perhaps we got unlucky but it was totally inedible."

"We stumbled upon this restaurant without prior knowledge, making it a blind booking. However, it turned out to be a pleasant surprise! The restaurant was a favorite among locals. The service was extremely attentive and personalized, and Toni, the owner, was charming. The food was exceptional, and despite being full, I couldn't resist trying one of their desserts. It was truly first-class, and we highly recommend it. On our next visit to London, we will definitely return to Clapham so we can dine at Toni's Amalfi once again."

"The portions were extremely small and completely lacked seasoning. The Italian antipasti advertised turned out to be mostly salad leaves, and instead of the promised variety of Italian cheeses, we received only three slices of brie and a few slices of Parma ham—all for £13, which is far too high; it should have been max £3. The spaghetti frutti di mare contained just three mussels, and the lasagna was mostly layers of pasta with bland, unseasoned tomato sauce and minimal, flavorless meat. Overall, this was one of the worst Italian restaurants I've encountered in The Lanes. The cooking felt very cheap, with no thought or care put into the dishes. I left feeling very disappointed and would not recommend it. It was absolutely not worth the price, and next time I will choose another place to dine."

"We stayed here last Thursday and Friday. The building is full of character, featuring charming beamed ceilings and uneven floors. Despite some quirks, the staff was attentive and quickly resolved any issues with a smile. The burger I had was excellent, and the breakfast was fantastic as well. If I could give this place six stars, I definitely would. It’s the staff that truly makes or breaks a place, and the Old Crown has an outstanding team."
