"What a charming, vintage establishment. There is a lot to discover spread out over two floors. The building also houses a print museum. The two gentlemen at the front desk were welcoming and accommodating. I purchased a few items and received a nice discount. The goods were carefully wrapped and brought out to my car. I would definitely return to Definitiw. There were intriguing features and diverse areas to explore."

"Great café serving a variety of breakfasts, wraps, burgers etc. Dined in to have a breakfast around lunchtime on a Saturday. Service came with a smile and a friendly helpful manner and food was great. Unpretentious surroundings, obviously popular with the locals by the trade it was receiving whilst we were eating. Small café though, so seating limited. Would definitely use again in the future."

"We, like other customers, ordered soup at this restaurant and were disappointed to receive a tepid serving. It seemed that the soup had been reheated in a microwave. The accompanying bread was a tiny, disappointing representation of Scottish cuisine - resembling cheap, dry supermarket bread. The soup portion was also small, especially considering the hefty price tag of £8.50. Additionally, the tables were sticky and unclean. Overall, this restaurant seemed like a rip-off, targeting both tourists and locals alike."

"I would say having been coming to the Pancake Place over the last 10 years, once every other month, it has sadly went very badly down hill. My wife and I visited with our 12 year old daughter. On arrival we were seated quickly and our drinks order taken within a few minutes. We received our drinks 2 diet pepsi which were not fizzy (clearly issue with draft) and a smoothie which was very tasty and refreshing. There were maybe about 4 or 5 tables occupied, so for a lunchtime I thought why is it so quet . Anyway, my wife and daughter both ordered the macaroni and I ordered the fish and chips. We received our food within about 5 6 mins which made me question that alot of the food must have just been simply reheated! The macaroni was insipid and lacked seasoning and my fish was about half the size of the normal portion I was used to getting. I questioned this with the server and he went to the kitchen only to return to advise that they can 't control the size of the portions they receive from their supplier!? The fish was definitely small enough to be a child 's portion. I requested why don 't they just give me an extra portion of the fish to which he replied. Sorry can 't do that but we can remove the meal from your bill . They did ask if I would like an alternative from the menu but by this point my wife and daughter had already eaten half of their meal so I wasn 't willing to make them wait any longer. In addition to this we were not given any cutlery until after we were served our food. Both my wife and daughter said they did not enjoy their food but it was edible. I returned my plate to the kitchen and received a credit off the bill. Sorry but £12 for what was basically a kids portion of fish, a handful of chips and a rotten looking side salad, it is very overpriced for what you get. None of us will be returning here. Quite sad really given it was always such a friendly, busy and quality cafe. Owners please do better!"

"the truth is said that this was my first real British pub to which I have ever gone, but still I enjoyed my first stay so much I came back three days in order. the ship inn is absolutely great, I would go so far to say it is among the best bars I was time. the staff is super friendly, eating is at a restaurant level of quality and taste and the beer selection should have something for everyone! the building itself is worth a visit. I hope I'll be back soon."

"Popped in for lunch with our kids during half term. Every table was full due to lots of shows happening around town. Despite only having two people doing the bar and running all the food everyone was served as quickly as possible and with a smile on the teams faces. The two team members made sure everyone had everything they needed and, importantly, clearly communicated that there was a little wait on food, putting everyone as ease. Super job in tough circumstances."

"Well what can i say about my buffet for my 30th birthday party. The food was delicious and plenty to say the least but what was different about this party is the personal touches that lisa made. Theme was a alice in wonderland mad hatters tea party and ingenious to put pickles and dips in tea cups and serve jam tarts (queen of hearts haha) on beautiful cake stands. My guests had nothing but praise for the food and said how delicious it all was. TI will defintely be recommending this ladies services to anyone wanting a personal catering experience. Thankyou lise. Your a star xxx What a turn around, wishing you all the best, keep serving them homemade oatcakes (with bacon and cheese, that I have to say are the dogs boll*cks) and you'll make that place. "I must say, I was so disappointed with my visit to Fredricks. My friend and I went for afternoon tea and were really looking forward to it. But we both found the experience really disappointing. Firstly the afternoon tea cakes looked nothing like the advert, nowhere near as fancy. The scones were lovely but we only had about a couple of tablespoons of cream between the two of us which wasn’t enough! The chap who initially gave us our tea was lovely but then once he had gone we didn’t see a soul. There was no one coming to check if we were ok or needed refills. I ended up drinking cold tea and my friend who had a coffee had nothing once that was finished. It wasn’t until we were practically finished that someone else came to have afternoon tea that we could actually grab someone to ask them for a refill! The ambiance of the afternoon tea was awful. Initially there was lovely music in the background but after about 15 mins it was turned off and we were left in silence. All we could hear were staff in the next room shouting to each other about something or other. There was no atmosphere at all and we actually felt like we shouldn’t be there! I’ve been to a number of afternoon teas and this was by far the worst one I have had. However this was my friends first afternoon tea and we thought that Fredricks would be fabulous for a first time tea..... but she was so disappointed! I felt really bad for her! : I don’t think I would come again."

"The staff at this restaurant are incredibly friendly, making for an excellent dining experience. The interactive tables also provide endless fun for children. I ordered a rib-eye steak cooked blue, which can be tricky to get right. They offered to cook it at my table, which I might try next time, but I wanted to see how they prepared it. The first attempt was still cold in the middle, but that wasn’t an issue for them. They simply placed it on the grill mat for another 30 seconds, and it turned out perfect. My daughter had a delicious waffle with speck and maple syrup, and she loved it. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I will definitely be returning."

"I've gone for more than 30 years after flames than one of my favorite starters and I can't blame them. they offer a large selection of kebabs and burgers, all cooked while they wait and served with freshly cut salads and a series of sauces and dressings. (her chili sauce is really brilliant! there is also a small escaping area and a bar for those who prefer to dive, but it is above all a take. I have always found all the staff to be very friendly, and the prices are very reasonable for the quantity and quality of the food. if you haven't tried it yet, I would recommend it to you without any delay."
