"There were two of us for dinner. We ordered a main and a starter as the two mains, and had specified this to the waiter. Then the starter came 10 minutes later by itself. I told the waiter and he went off to check and didn’t come back. I then had to resay it to the waiter who just went silent as they didn’t know what to do. I asked them to take it back and bring it with the main course I ordered as part of the overall meal. The starter was cold when it came with the main; I had expected a new starter would be done given the issue. The bill had then overcharged for an item. I won’t be revisiting this restaurant given the service was very poor from the three different 3 I dealt with"

"Stayed overnight- rooms unclean with rubbish under beds, cobwebs and dirty cups, lipstick on glass tumblers. Had a meal- took over 2 hours to have 3 courses yet restaurant quiet. Starters fine. Mains- not as described on menu, things missing or exchanged without being told (2 people with autism struggled with this) parts of it were clearly previous days leftovers (hard dry Yorkshire puddings, dry turkey). Told staff but they didn’t care and shrugged shoulders- no apology. One main took 10 minutes to arrive after everyone else had been given their food due to incorrect ordering of staff. Had to ask for desserts after 20 minutes of waiting. Staff clearly not happy- slammed plates on table, no proper customer service. Passed hot plates to people without warning causing pain. Held hot soup plates above a young child’s head. Staff vaping in public view. Chewing gum while serving. Completely unprofessional and poor quality. Definitely not worth the amount we paid and feel we’d of had better quality at Wetherspoons for a cheaper price! Price per person: £30–40 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3"

"Came here earlier with my friend. There was no queue, the people working there was nice. HOWEVER if you are a student and want something cheap, this is not the place. I offered to pay for my friend since it was her birthday and for the two of us it came to £38 (rip debit card). The food was so nice, the burger was a bit dry but that’s due to me not asking for ketchup in my burger. It was really nice and there was a calming atmosphere, will probably be back next month xd"

"Wow what a place! Very cool and different from the local pubs in the area, been here a while and didn't know it existed! Beautiful bar with great interiors and excellent cocktails with amazing service. The cocktail list is not only extensive but reasonably priced too and the happy hour is an amazing deal! Music is also great and lots of comfy places to sit. I just came here with a friend during the week and we were able to have a good catch up but it's definitely a place you could see being busy with lots of dancing in the weekend...we will be back to try it again for sure, need to as good also looked delicious!"

"five youngs is a fantastic place to eat while it can be expensive, eating is worth definitiw, by far and away miles better then mcdonald’s. the personal is super helpful and always ensures that the place looks clean, the staff who prepare the food, make sure that the gloves are changed regularly and if necessary. the food was prepared very quickly and packed in the typical five youngs fashion, burger in foil. the portions of the chips are huge, the pocket fill!"

"Firstly, I want to give a massive thank you to the staff at Smiths for being so patient as we both had intolerances that we had to take into consideration when ordering food. I unfortunately didn't get names of the staff but there were two in particular that were very friendly and understanding. The one blonde lady went out of her way to make a list of each item we couldn't have (I couldn't have gluten, there was also a dairy intolerance) to ease the decision of ordering food. I have never experienced such fantastic service in a restaurant!! The food was to die for, so incredibly tasty and fresh! Unfortunately we had eyes bigger than our stomach and didn't eat it all but the food was worth every penny. I highly recommend Smiths for some amazing grub when visiting Boughton On The Water! Dietary restrictions: A dairy and gluten intolerance that they were more than happy to help with"

"Had a impromptu celebration and Amy and the Team were able to accommodate and all of us were impressed with the food, and service at a very reasonable rate and will most definately back to try some More of the menu in particular the freshly made pizza offering ! The steak was perfectly cooked and showed you dont need to go miller and carter for a quality meal. One of our party is veggie and the options and the meal She had was fantastic. I dont hve the words to describe how lush the pudds were so you’ll just have to try one. Service wise, the ladies working couldnt be more friendly towards us and made us most welcome even though they were busy nothing was too much trouble. Look foward to another visit soon!"

"We went for a bottomless brunch on a Saturday and had a great experience. The food and drinks were delicious, but what really made our visit special was the exceptional service from Rachel and Becky. "Easy to get to, nice seating. Service was slow, expensive meals with chips!! Poor choice of food for children. Poor quality burger for child's meal, poor choice of lettuce with cheap quality buns. Hubby had a large burger but he was very disappointed with his. Having said that, my tuna was delicious, nicely cooked well presented, nicely portioned. If all standards followed this dish, stars awarded would be higher. Overall disappointing experience due to higher price comes with higher expectations! We will not be returning anytime soon. "I dined at this restaurant with my child. It was a bit pricey, but the food was delicious. Unfortunately, they did not have a child menu. They do offer a "small burger" option, but I didn't think it was the same. The burgers come with double patties and the toppings are customizable, which is a great feature. We also ordered chips, which were on the pricier side but were a good portion size and tasted great. The milkshakes were also delicious, but at around £5 each, I would expect them to be top-notch at that price."

"Have known about the Champany for years and it's good reputation so we decided to try the Chop Ale House first. I'm afraid to say it was a big disappointment. My order of sirloin was over done, medium more than medium rare and the...fat was charcoal. The quality of the steak was not great, fairly chewy, we get much better steak from our butchers in the Borders. The service was exceptionally quick, no sooner had you finished your last mouthful plates were whisked away. In fact we were actually asked twice if we had finished when we clearly had not. There is a no booking policy so I understand they need to turn tables, but we were actually done in an hour for a course meal. I was also very uncomfortable with the uniform' for staff. Plain black trousers and shirt for the men which was fine but an absolutely ridiculous traditional servants' uniform for the women with a long white frilly apron, think Dounton Abbey, totally uncalled for, very sexist. Overall a disappointment for what was with only person drinking and a shared dessert. I'm afraid we will stick to Edinburgh."

"On a very cold day, after a good country walk, we wanted a pub meal and fell upon this place!! We got a great welcome from the minute we stepped in the door! The place was full but we were welcomed, seated and served quickly. The vegetarian fish and chips was the star meal!! It tasted brilliant and the owner was excited to discuss how we liked it and took the time to explain how he made. It was brilliant as was all the other dishes we had. Along with the great beers and mulled wine we had a great time before we walked back."
