"Busy, busy pub, shame it's not twice the size. We visited the pub on a couple of occasions, the first time it was packed and looked like it would be a long wait for a table so we left and went elsewhere. We returned the following night but a little bit earlier, it was still very busy and all the tables were taken. We decided to have a drink ad wait for a table, which was about 15 minutes. SERVICE: Very polite and friendly staff who were all very busy but still engaged with the customers. Very efficient. FOOD: We ordered the Goulash and Pie. Both were very tasty and enjoyable, we would order the same again. A staff member checked to make sure that everything was ok a few minutes after receiving our meals. DRINKS: Good choice of beers (ales) and spirits. ATMOSPHERE: Lovely vibe, the place is alive with chatting and plenty of friendly dogs. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and look forward to visiting again."

"I recently visited The Dog with my mum, who's nearly 90, and we had a cracking Sunday lunch! Despite the place being packed, the service was spot-on—meticulous and caring. The staff made sure we never felt ignored, always responding courteously and promptly, which was lovely to see. The food was absolutely top-notch. It's clear why it's so busy here; the quality of the food is fantastic. They manage to create a welcoming atmosphere where everyone, from little ones to friends catching up, seems to be having a great time. The staff are obviously very well trained knowing exactly how to make you feel relaxed. We’re definitely planning to come back soon. I think it’s a great place the to bring your family for a meal where the service will make you feel very welcome. There were an abundance of families eating etc whilst we were there, I think this is extremely popular for Sunday lunch given the amount of people, but we did not wait more than a couple of mins for service. Well done management team!"

"We ate in the cafe part of the restaurant which we were happy to do as there seemed to be quite a few Christmas Parties in the main room. It's a very pretty place and I could not fault the young woman who served us. Polite and helpful. However the food was average. I had the cod croquettes which were ok but not magnificent and could have done with more sauce. My partner and guest had the cauliflower which again could have done with more sauce and there was a lot of it. Our other guest had the duck donut which he said was delicious. There were one fish and a pithivier which was delicious the veggies were cold in both cases. The venison was good but hardly warm and the veggies cold. The burger turned up raw in the middle and ok one could argue that it should have been stipulated to be well done. It was taken back and turned up again crisped to almost a cinder. It was taken off the bill but that is surely not the point. Anyway we liked the place as a restaurant but we probably won't go back unless its tot he cafe during the day. Also there hardly any vegan dishes but it was said that vegetarian ones can be adapted to vegan. Shame as it was disappointing and not inexpensive. I saw this restaurant had mixed reviews but we decided to give it a go. Think they are on the right track but need to polish it"

"for the first time last week visited the dancing goat and had a great experience. we do not live near, but will definitely come back when we are close. we own our own coffee shop, but were gone for a few days and. I really missed a decent cup when coffee. we had a search on google and this place came with some good recommendations. we were not disappointed. the coffee was perfect, really beautiful and full-bodied. also banan bread with zimtbutter, which was amazing, like the croissants. really friendly service. they were only open for outlier because of everything that was going on at the moment, but this has not been from a whole round great experience. the business is located in a beautiful small community area, so standing outside the church in the sun, drinking a beautiful cup coffee and watching the world go by. perfect"

"My wife and I decided to spontaneously visit this restaurant on Saturday evening, January 13th, 24 while we were in Harrogate for the weekend. Despite the busy atmosphere, we were warmly greeted and seated promptly. We shared the Tzatziki as a starter, my wife ordered the Greek sea bass, and I had the chicken Gyros for our main courses. Both dishes were delicious and served in generous portions. The service was top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff. Although we traveled from Derby for the weekend, we would definitely become regular patrons if we lived closer to Harrogate."

"Based on the good reviews here, we tried this place for lunch. Really interesting menu and friendly staff. The place was packed on a Monday lunch time, which must say something. I had the Seafood Platter, my son had a salt beef sandwich and my husband had the potato skins. We were all very pleased with our food. Two of us were tempted by delicious looking (and tasting) cakes....enough said. We will be back, and soon."

"Just celebrated my 28th birthday in The Brickroom. Ross the bar manager knows everything about cocktails, but not much about Love Island. So if you want smooth, sexy cocktails in a relaxed venue served with a smile, this is the place. For chat about the drama in the villa, probably best try elsewhere. The peppermint tea is also the best in The Wu."

"I've been here several times and always had a good experience. This time I met a couple of friends and we enjoyed drinks with scones and a very tasty sausage roll and chilli jam. The waiting staff are always polite, friendly and accommodating. A very popular place, so I usually book online."

"Used to be lovely but the service and food has gone down. We got here at 12.15 and chose off the menu that is served from noon but was told we'd have to wait til 12.30, I think the kitchen staff were under pressure. We were on a timescale so no problem my friend chose off the breakfast menu, and I had a sausage roll from the counter. Food wasn't as good as it used to be, poached eggs were dry and the bread that they're served on are like doorsteps! if that's your thing you'll be OK. Sausage roll was burnt on the top, but as I was hungry I had it anyway and picked off the burnt bits. There's plenty of staff but they're not exactly serving more like standing around talking to each other. I've been here a few times this year and we were let down in August for a booking we made for a birthday. I really like the setting and counter delicacies, but other than that we won't be coming back for brunch, lunch or dinner, that ship has sailed."

"We left absolutely full, and very happy. My daughter had the pancakes with bacon and maple syrup...they were HUGE, 3 massive pancakes with 2 rashers of bacon, butter and a jug of syrup. She couldn't finish it, although it was so tasty. I had the chicken salad, again a big bowl full generous with the chicken and a nice mixed salad with plenty of tomatoes and peppers etc in it too. Also, an Oreo milkshake and a coffee . The only disappointment was the coffee which I found to be slightly bitter for my taste, but others may be fine with it, just a personal taste/preference thing. Service was quick, and staff friendly. I hope it is busy for them, it's a bit tucked away up in the High Street for a lot of the tourist trade who seem to stay down by the Quay, it's well worthwhile going up to the High Street to visit this place."

"I first discovered Greensmith's, not long after they opened, on a bitterly cold early Spring day. Their attractive frontage caught my eye, but the interior is just as pleasant. The service is always friendly, the Northwoods coffee good, and they do some excellent cakes, some of which are vegan. The food menu is fairly short, but I have had some nice soups here. However, I was unimpressed with the mushroom on toast I had on my most recent visit. There was no mention of rocket being part of this dish, and while I am in no way averse to rocket, the dish arrived, completely covered in the stuff. I took a bite, but couldn't taste the mushrooms, so I decided to remove some of the rocket. As I began to do so, I couldn't find any mushrooms, so I kept on until all the rocket was on the side of the plate. You can see what this revealed from my photo, 2 dry-tasting pieces of sourdough, with barely any mushrooms. They are just common or garden mushrooms, not truffles, couldn't I have a few more for £6.50 please?"

"We decided to pop I to try the new lunch menu as we were told the chef has changed. The vegan option felt disappointing, unfortunately. The non- vegan sourdough toast/bagel options come with eggs. The vegan option is simply vegetables on toast. Although it tasted fine, there was nothing replacing the egg's protein and fat. Therefore, I was pretty hungry shortly after leaving. When one pays £10 for lunch, it is frustrating to leave hungry. It would help to have some source of protein and fat added to the meal, e.g.: Tofu; hummus; beans; lentils; pesto; nuts. The butternut squash was also lacking in flavour, sadly. It would really help to have some extra herbs and spices added. I would love to come back and try again for lunch when the vegan menu sounds more filling and more flavoursome. I also feel that the lunch options are slightly too expensive for what we were given. My family members tried two non- vegan options and enjoyed the food but also agreed it was a little too dear. I think for £10 many other places would offer a small side of crisps, chips, or salad, which would help soften the blow of an expensive lunch out."

"Really nice location to go for a walk, there were 3 pre signposted routes of various length of you could go your own way. Plenty of trails to explore and streams for young ones and dogs to play in. Plenty of paths through the woods and also some through fields. Some step climbing depending on which path you choose and also a challenging but fun parkrun on Saturday mornings. Only criticism was the car park was very full the mid week morning we visited but we did eventually get a space. Also has a cafe and toilets near the car park."

"Ordered at those annoying self service screen things and waited amongst the others in a disorderly queue. 11 minutes waiting time for basic food. … 11 minutes !!!!! This new system that Macdonalds have introduced is absolute pants. It was far far better the old...way yet in these cos cutting times, Macdonalds think this is the way to go. It's not particularly the staffs fault as they all seem to be working as fast as possible but what is holding up the queues AND HERE AT WATFORD IT'S THE CASE is the Uber eats are taking away the food for the customers in the shop. Drive throughs are the same. Your food is delivered quicker than waiting in store. If I can truly help it , I won't return to this branch of Macdonalds as the waiting time is just far far too long for what is supposed to be fast food ! If the managers an franchisees are reading this , you REALLY need to up your game."

"We really enjoyed our breakfast at this friendly cafe in the appealing group of shops at Gatley. The first thing that attracted our attention was the little outdoor tables at the front opposite Gatley Green. Ideal during COVID when we weren’t wanting to eat indoors. The second thing was the coffee I was able to get a decent long black (so many places in this part of the world don’t offer it, and the few that do often serve up an americano not a long black). The menu immediately reflects some character, with a little more than the standard cooked English breakfast options, many of which have interesting names like Lockdown for the big breakfast and Taste the Freedom for the vegetarian option. We are always looking for places which offer granola and/or porridge. The good news is that Coffee Fix offers porridge; the even better news is that it is really good porridge. Add to this the fast, professional and friendly service and you have a place we will happily return to. Doing things well at a challenging time."
"Met friends for lunch on a Friday. Unfortunately the service really disappointed us. I think it's pretty hit and miss depending on who serves you. My beetroot and goat cheese salad was eventually lovely but had to complain as the beetroot was originally missing from the salad. If you compare it to similar places in the area I think the food is good however the customer service is less impressive."

"Today I visited Esquires in Dartford where I ordered a cooked breakfast and a hot drink, I asked for certain items to be cooked in a certain way. The venue was fairly busy as it was inclement weather and market day. After I ordered the polite staff members on duty requested me to take a seat and they would bring my order to me. I didn't have to wait long and my order was delivered to my table just as I had ordered and was hot, tasty and presentable. I found the price competitive if not slightly cheaper than other local cafe's/deli's. After I had finished the crockery and cutlery was removed and I was asked if I required a further drink as I was working on my laptop. A further drink was brought to me. I found the staff extremely professional and the food 10/10 This is about the 6/7th time I have visited and always found it a welcoming, clean and warm place to eat and catch up on my laptop. I will definitely visit again"
"4 of us went for breakfast including a toddler. We were shown to a booth but a polite waitress and asked if we needed a highchair. We ordered coffees and a freshly squeezed orange juice which arrived promptly and was delicious. All the food was exceptional and the ingredients were all fresh and of high quality. We were too full to order them, but definitely will be returning to try the buttermilk doughnuts! There is a public carpark situated behind that is free on weekends and a 30 second walk that has plenty of parking. Would highly recommend a visit to Toast!"

"We visited this bustling café for breakfast on a Sunday morning at 9am and were seated promptly. By the time we left, there was a line stretching halfway down the street with eager customers waiting. We enjoyed the pancake stack with biscoff, though we found it a bit dry without the additional yogurt. The granola with fresh fruit was a delightful choice as well. The service was pleasant and friendly, and we appreciated the various vegan options on the menu. In contrast, a previous visit for coffee and cake two days prior was a disappointment with slow and unfriendly service, bitter coffee, and overly loud music. However, after speaking to a local, we decided to give the café a second chance and were glad we did."
