"We went for a dinner with friends, we ordered salt pepper corn, chilli paneer, masala Mogo, veg samosa’s which were all edible but nothing that was outstanding, but all edible and we all ate. For mains we ordered butter chicken, shahi paneer, dal makhani and naan and nothing was really outsindong, they added juts lots of chilli powder on the dal makhani but forgot to add any butter or cream! The paneer was again the same nothing shahi about it. They did offer to make it again but we didn’t want to wait around for them to make it all again. Be aware when ordering a jug of coke or drink! It’s £12 for 3 large glasses of coke whereas the the jug is £12 and only offer you 1.5 glasses of coke! So felt a bit ripped off there! But we didn’t say anything to them about it but def not worth getting the jug! Lesson learnt not sure if rush back to eat there again as nothing really stood out"

"the first time at tapasya. booked for a Monday evening and as expected, and like most restaurants, will always be quiet, but three tables covered such a ' atmosphere', the staff was very attentive and friendly, and eating was really delicious. in contrast to most Indian restaurants, the menu is quite small, so they can make sure that every dish is very good and freshly prepared. the web image is for 'indian fine eating'. yes, it seems safe! I did not taste as good Indian eating as this for a very long time, nor had serviettes placed on my lap in any Indian restaurant! the waitresses simply slide up to their table and fill their drinks without they perceive this. will definitely return in the near future, good things."

"Great menu! Very refreshing and different to the usual North Indian cuisine majority of the British Indian restaurants offer. Definitely try their Indian Chinese starters like chilli chicken, salt pepper prawns, veg manchurian and their cocktails! Natak’s menu beats Dishoom for us ; They have a new and excited team of waiters waitresses who take your eating plates away in a rush so a bit of service awareness missing but otherwise they’re all friendly prompt. Cannot wait to return to try their diverse brunch menu which has dosas etc."

"Not the best experience. No parking to start with. Inconsiderate drivers. Service was overly keen. Kept interrupting our conversation various times asking is everything okay constantly throughout the experience. Manager offered as we walked in some water and poppadoms in a complimentary way. Later to find out he charged us a ridiculous price. Food was very overpriced for the quality. The variety was very limit and the staff didn’t now about the menu when asked questions. The manager was sneaky and added service charge also without asking us or telling. Place is small. Go owl and pussycat if you want good Indian food at a fraction of the price. I wouldn’t recommend unless you into a show room restaurant rather the quality and service. Thumbs down for me over hyped."

"Booked for bottomless brunch on Saturday, only to turn up and find the restaurant closed. My friend had travelled from Liverpool and myself from the other side of Manchester, so to say this was disappointing is an understatement! I rang the number and in fairness they answered, but I don’t feel they offered a solid resolution. They claimed they had tried to get in touch but I’d confirmed the table the day before through the Opentable text I received. I had no missed calls, no other texts and no emails from Aamchi. Their reasoning for cancelling was that we were the only booking which is fair enough, but any form of communication would have been appreciated! I believe if they’d have just cancelled through open table it would have notified me so I don’t believe this excuse of trying to get in touch they clearly just forgot. If the booking had been cancelled then we wouldn’t have been as annoyed and would have saved hours (and the cost) of travelling between us! They offered to give us “something special” the next time we come, but considering we travelled out of our way to come for the bottomless brunch, I can’t say I’m willing to make the journey again to risk another disappointment. Shout out to Chit and Chaat where we had a great meal as an alternative!"

"I used to go to this restaurant all the time 15 years ago and convinced many friends to make the trip out here. After ages I thought I would try this place again in August as I was in the area shopping for Asian wedding accessories. The staff were welcoming and friendly. I went into the bathroom to wash my hands prior to eating and ordering and I was just disgusted by the smell. It was like a toilet in India that rarely (if ever gets cleaned . I was so disgusted by the smell just in the sink area I didn't even want to think about how clean the actual toilets were or the kitchen. I also don't know if the staff used the same toilets but if they do I have major concerns about the hygiene levels in this place. I walked out before ordering anything (thank God! . I will never return here again."

"we had the set thali, which was very well cooked and presented. extra brot offered part away through the meal that was good. my only critique was the charge for the Chutney tablet, very small portions and not much variety for the two of us, I have nothing against paying for poppadums, but please close the chutney especially, as the portions were minuscule!"

"I visited the Rustom restaurant on 29th Dec. 2021 during my Christmas New year break. It's a well maintained , neat and a formal looking restaurant. I had my lunch here. I ordered 3 starters which was good. The paneer was spicy but we'll cooked. The masala fish and grilled fish was good too. When I ordered just a single main curry , I was requested by the staff to order a minimum of two curries since it's a hotel policy they follow. Was taken aback as I did not see it coming but obliged to it. The main course was good as the starters but personally Omar Khayyam restaurant which is quite next to this hotel which has overall lower rating than this wins hands down. Except the main curries hotel policy I was happy with the food and the polite staff."

"The staff completely disregarded our reservation, despite it being confirmed in a separate correspondence. They seemed indifferent, uninterested, and unhelpful. When inquiring about ingredients for allergies, they bluntly stated they didn't know how the food was sourced. Our group felt like a burden. The service was painfully slow, leading to one member not being able to enjoy their meal as it arrived late. Even after requesting a cooler dessert, it was served too hot and then taken away without our consent. The restroom was cold, unkempt, and lacked basic amenities. The set menu was not good value for money and had to be specifically asked for as it was not advertised."

"The service was friendly and attentive. I was shown to my table and presented with a menu. I ordered pappdoms and a pickle tray. The four pickles were tasty. Cobra and Kingfisher were on draft. I ordered a pint of Cobra but it tasted off so I asked for Kingfisher instead. I was not charged for the Cobra as the waiter agreed it was off. I ordered the Lamb Biryani which came with yogurt raita or curry sauce. It was spicy and the portion was large. My bill came to £17 which I thought was reasonable."

"Absolutely incredible! I was craving Indian cuisine and this restaurant came highly recommended in the area I was staying from google, and my goodness it definitely lived up to its expectations! My lovely server Swapnil recommended me the Patra Chaat for my starter and its the most beautiful array of flavours in your mouth, this is made in house and its their original recipe so you wont find it anywhere else, I recommend you to definitely try it you will be thoroughly impressed. My main dish was the butter chicken absolutely scrumptious the level of spice was just perfect. All in all blown away by the food, the ambiance of the restaurant is so cosy and comforting and my server Swapnil was so attentive, kind and welcoming. "I starved on Sunday night and lam's kitchen expression was fortunately open. I ordered a chicken stable and a won ton soup. the aromen were good. my son ordered garnelen fried rice and mix Veg soup, he ate everything until the last reiskorn and said it was delicious. eating was nice and hot boiled, which was great when it was a cold night."

"Wonderful meal at The Tigers Pad. This is a favourite local restaurant of mine and my family and I suggested it as a venue for a Christmas get-together to a group of friends some of whom hadn't eaten here before. Excellent authentic Indian food, wonderful service and a real buzz about the place. This is a family run restaurant and they look after their guests beautifully. "We had to change our reservation from pre-theatre to after theatre, which was accomodated without any issues. We did not realise just how long we had spent dining but were not rushed at all by the staff either who stayed after closing time. Our gluten free vegetarian dietary requirements were catered for not only from the menu but also on recommendation from the chef preparing a special dish of stuffed pepper. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and will return if ever in the Colchester area again. They are also part of the Meerkat system which is the only reason that we found this restaurant and only goes to show that you can choose to go somewhere in a different town based on that network of choices as well. Excellent"
