"This restaurant is a beautiful place that I believe is facing difficulties due to the bad news of COVID-19. People may be feeling confused, but I encourage them not to lose hope. The restaurant could benefit from having a front person, a host who can connect with customers and bring energy into the business. We were unsure about the food, but it seemed to be a mix of Moroccan and Turkish cuisine. I wish the restaurant good luck in the future, and I will definitely be back to show my support."

"Great place but starting to look a bit tired. Toilets are an issue as limited and not particularly clean which is always a red flag! Try and get an attendant who is ideally not serving food, to check the loos every 15 mins and discourage patrons from allowing their dogs to sit on the seats. Service: Dine in Meal type: Brunch"

"I had the best lunch surprise at Opposite! After hearing great things about this new place, I decided to check it out, and it was amazing. The food was delicious, portions were generous, and it was great value for money. The atmosphere was fantastic and the staff were friendly. As I was leaving, one of the staff members even recommended that I try sitting in the outdoor seating area next time. I absolutely loved everything about my experience and will definitely be returning soon! Highly recommend giving it a try."

"We dined at the pre-theater seating, which meant it was early in the evening, but the warm summer night allowed for the doors to be wide open, making the restaurant feel bright and airy. A few tables were occupied both inside and outside. The service was excellent and accommodating to our time constraints, yet we still managed to enjoy three courses. There was a large selection of vegetarian and fish dishes, and the desserts were simply divine. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. However, there weren't many meat or vegan options available. The wine list was adequate; we tried a sparkling wine (Arras) that was a bit disappointing. Overall, we consider our experience excellent because all aspects were thoroughly checked and met our expectations."

"We had lunch at The Fig in Rye and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The lunch menu has good variety even though the menu is small. The pulled pork tacos were delicious as was the Goan prawn curry. We both enjoyed the warm banana cake dessert. The atmosphere was great and the staff helpful and attentive. Thank you!"

"Came in for evening meal, food was awesome. Delicious cocktails, warm atmosphere. We were served by a young man with hair in a bun. Very friendly and answered questions we had about a dessert. However atmosphere was completely ruined by who I assumed was the manager, having a pop at the young man who served us right in front of the kitchen and in front of a few tables who were all looking. Felt so uncomfortable to watch and listen to and put us off completely. I won't be returning as I don't feel compelled to give money to someone who feels it's okay to treat staff this way. If you have a problem sort it out privately instead of making a spectacle trying to make yourself look big in front of guests, not good management. Poor guy looked like he handled it well but noone should be treated like that. If that's how this bloke treats staff in front of people who knows what he's like behind closed doors. Shame because the food and service from everyone but him was great."

"Read some very good reviews about this restaurant... but were slightly disappointed. Bottle of wine was reasonably priced and good. Very extensive drinks menu compared to a rather limited food menu! Starter was too salty for me (tiger prawn and chorizo scotch egg) and my friend's venison carpaccio was too cooked and not what we would expect for a carpaccio. The steamed dumpling of Scottish lobster, scallops and cod was weirdly presented and was bland. Mains were better but my friend's side order never appeared before we finished our main course... I had the buckwheat crepe with smoked avocado ratatouille failed to find any avocado flavour and although it was nice, cannot comprehend why it was so pricey. Duck was nicely cooked and so was the pork belly. The whole meal was over 40 pounds per person... hopefully will be better next time we come!"

"MrsC decided, as part of her recovery, for us to meet at Bicester Village for a wander in the Autumn sunshine and perchance to get some victuals whilst we were about it. I met her at the well appointed Bicester Village station (which must have the best waiting room, by far, of any network rail destination in the country) early doors and we pootled over to Farmshop for a late breakfast. We were seated swiftly, on entering, on a row of two cover seatings along the expansive framed windows alongside a walkway into the outlet village. A minor concern, on scanning the menu, was the perceived absence of both dairy alternatives for the drinks and a plant based breakfast choice beyond coconut yoghurt, granola and berries (which someone on the adjacent table had and looked very good). Somewhat perversely we found a cooked “plant based” breakfast in the Eggs section? Which, in concert, we both ordered and then were informed by our server, Nikole, that they had a plethora of PB alternatives for their hot drinks. So we added a coconut flat white, for MrsC, and a decaf oat milk latte pour moi. Both the drinks and food were despatched to the table in good time and were very good. The PB brekkie dispensed with faux meat items and the, now, ubiquitous scrambled tofu and a large oval plate was generously filled with; Fresh wilted greens with a soupçon of salt crystals and chopped chives Two gently softened fresh halved tomatoes Half an avocado mixed with fresh mint Two decent sized freshly cooked flat cap mushrooms Two slices of toasted sourdough (sadly bereft of any spread) Some disappointing canned baked beans and Less than homemade mini hash browns. All in all a light, but substantial, vegan breakfast with, mostly, freshly cooked ingredients of good quality. Coffees were good to boot. Service was light touch but attentive and warm and we enjoyed a great start to our meander around the “village”. It would probably warrant a 4.5 but for the irritating and unnecessary addition of a 13.5% “discretionary” service charge to the bill. I recognise I’m a curmudgeonly old fart but, on two counts, I find these additions an affront. Firstly “discretionary” means an individuals choice; not one unilaterally applied by the restaurant for the customer to have the “discretion” to remove it! As MrsC will willingly avow, especially if alcohol has been involved, I am more than willing to apply the traditional discretionary service thank-you (or tip as we used to refer to it) both regularly and generously. Further frustratingly there is no blanket suggestion that said 13.5% is given to the backroom staff or front of house. Secondly why is there a need to add a service charge and negatively differentiate yourselves? If my breakfast needs to be priced at ,a not unreasonable, £14.76 rather than the menu price of £13.00 than so be it. That’s far more honest and transparent than the route taken and a whole lot less alienating than the current practice. Surely there’s an expectation that if I’m ordering a meal via table service that it will be delivered to me where I’m sat? It seems churlish to add a sum to the bill for the taking of my order and its delivery to me. In summary. Service was great Food was very good. Menu could be clearer. Restaurant space is great with good atmosphere Service charge is a nonsense. Would I recommend it. Of course. There’s loads more positives than downsides and the quality and quantity of the food and the service itself is spot on."

"for the first time last week visited the dancing goat and had a great experience. we do not live near, but will definitely come back when we are close. we own our own coffee shop, but were gone for a few days and. I really missed a decent cup when coffee. we had a search on google and this place came with some good recommendations. we were not disappointed. the coffee was perfect, really beautiful and full-bodied. also banan bread with zimtbutter, which was amazing, like the croissants. really friendly service. they were only open for outlier because of everything that was going on at the moment, but this has not been from a whole round great experience. the business is located in a beautiful small community area, so standing outside the church in the sun, drinking a beautiful cup coffee and watching the world go by. perfect"

"I haven’t had the opportunity to try out the new Plants by de yet, but I went to the deli two years ago and enjoyed the food experience very much. I am a big fan of Ella and loved trying out her wonderful recipes at the deli. The space was beautifully decorated with such an inviting and cozy atmosphere. It had lots of natural light, which made the place seem bigger. The service was alright, but the prices were a bit expensive. I had the corn fritters with smokey baked beans and avo smash for lunch simply amazing! I couldn’t resist, so I tried the peanut cookies and the banana bread also, which were just as great. This was undoubtedly one of the food highlights of my London trip. Everything was as delicious as it looks! I’m excited to try out the new place soon and to update this review then!"

"I was under the impression that vegan Thursdays would mean mostly vegan food on the menu that wasn’t really the case I think there were 4 options for mains with plenty more options for non vegans and no specials. I’m not even sure the menu was any different to any other day of the week. I had the butternut squash and bean filo parcels which were good, but nothing special. My partner had the chickpea burger, I had a try of it and it was so salty it was almost inedible. Other feedback was that the cauliflower vegan dish was also good and the cod cheek dish was bland. All expensive at around £18 per main. There were 1 or 2 vegan desserts. I think we enjoyed the desserts more than the mains. I would expect a much higher quality for the price and I don’t think this is a good example of how good vegan food can be. I felt a little bit responsible for taking the family there after reading the rave reviews on here. Something must have changed significantly at this restaurant since the previous reviews were written. It’s the only explanation I can think of. Updated from previous review on 2023 06 18"

"This place has gone completely downhill. I've been a customer in here for years and I won't be back after the service I have received today. The waitresses were inattentive. We had to ask for cutlery after our food was served. We had to ask for drinks twice. When the bill came we had been overcharged. The waitress stood over us with the card machine impatiently, probably because she didn't want to give us time to check the bill. It was utter rudeness. I don't know if this place has changed hands, but it's definitely not the place it used to be."

"My wife and I went here yesterday. We thought it was a nice little cafe. Service was good and so was the food. My wife got a white hot chocolate which was quite unique because had white chocolate on a stick. It tasted pretty good. I got the homemade chai which was also quite different because it was milky and had a pot of honey on the side. I enjoyed it. For food my wife got poached eggs on breakfast muffins which she very tasty. Eggs were cooked were cooked spot on. However, my wife thought bacon was a little over cooked. I was greedy and got the banana bread with berries and mascarpone and I got the almond bostock special. I enjoyed both. Nice flavours and a bit different. The service was pretty good and the staff were friendly. We got a brownie and flapjack to take away. Brownie was nice and flapjack was ok. Overall everything was good but probably not warrant a 5 stars."

"Met friends for lunch on a Friday. Unfortunately the service really disappointed us. I think it's pretty hit and miss depending on who serves you. My beetroot and goat cheese salad was eventually lovely but had to complain as the beetroot was originally missing from the salad. If you compare it to similar places in the area I think the food is good however the customer service is less impressive."

"A fairly new spot to Brixham but certainly my new favourite. Amazing vegan and gluten free mains including beetroot hummus on local sourdough with avocado and homemade banana bread with vegan yoghurt and berries. Vegan stuff is also really afford at around £7 for a generous portion. Choices of plant milks and even a CHOICE of vegan cakes such as carrot cake and chocolate cake when we visited (always changing) which were so good! Owners are really clued up on vegan veggie stuff do meat free Monday menus with 5+ vegan options which is great to see. Really nice, chilled out spot with a lovely sunny back garden. Social distancing hygiene measures well adhered to too. Will be retuning!"

"gluten free risotto to be here! and they even have it tailored (which meant that they cook it fresh, it was 't stewing in a pot) which was great. I had the mushroom spinat pasta, which was delicious, and of course was nabeby the gf Risotto food! it was jumbo garnel and they were really. I liked the cordial fizz (raspberry flavored) not as sweet as a soft drink, but refreshing. the place was busy on a Saturday night, so it was a bit slow to get out, but it wasn't so long. in any case on that could list again."

"Honestly so disappointing I wouldn’t bother. The visual appearance of the restaurant was really nice, we got greeted immediately and had a choice of where to sit since the restaurant was empty (first red flag). The waiter provided us with menus (we got advised there was no wine menu, just house wine), we waited for our drinks order to be taken for at least 20 minutes. Eventually we got our drinks, and another 15 20 mins later the waiter took our food order. Having clarified our order, the waiter even asked if we wanted everything to arrive together (which we did). I had to try and get the waiters attention to re order some more drinks (3 glasses of wine, which we waited for 20 mins to arrive, again). The waiter brought the wine all in his hands, as if carrying some pints for the lads. Eventually the food arrived after over an hour. Naturally the food didn’t come together our friend had her food arrive 15 20 mins after the rest. The truffle arancini was dry and bland (didn’t taste like truffle), my friend got the cod curry which came with dry, crunchy and stale rice (the rest of the food wasn’t nice either tbh). Essentially for the price I would not recommend. During our stay, two couples arrived and left shortly after (assume since they weren’t served for at least 15 20 mins) (despite restaurant being empty) (two tables including us occupied). We had to ask for the bill twice, because naturally they didn’t bring it the first time. Honestly don’t waste your time or money here, I doubt this place will be open for much longer."

"I went for the vegan seasonal toast option. As always it is nice to have a colourful and healthy plate. However, I do feel as though the plate contained a lot of salad to make it look like more than what it was. I wasnt the biggest fan of the cold veg mixed in with the salad like the sprouts and cauliflower. On the other hand, the actual seasonal toast was tasty with the tofu on top aswell. "Lots of friends have been recommending this local cafe on one of Bristol’s most popular high streets for some time. This week I finally had brunch there. From the outside you wouldn’t think it is particularly special but the food and the coffee are excellent. There is no shortage of savoury and sweet options and both are equally good. I had mushrooms on sourdough toast. Need to find an excuse to return to try the pecan buns which looked fantastic. Bakers and Co will be one of my go to places in this part of Bristol. Give it a try."
