"Squirrelled away above The Running Horse, the oldest pub in Mayfair, is a speakeasy style, Kentucky Derby themed cocktail bar. There's a shabby chic mix of interesting and comfy furniture and brightly coloured jockey silks adorn the walls. The staff here really know their stuff, they are walking menus, very professional, warm and friendly and clearly love what they do. The signature cocktails are the juleps which are served in metal julep cups with metal strainers instead of straws. A really original serving of a classic drink made very, very well. Food is southern style bar bites, beautifully presented. The menu includes gems like deep fried pickles and shrimp and grits. This is a great place for a party it's fun, friendly and the food and drink is fantastic. I've been here with friends, for big parties, taken clients here and been for a romantic evening with my husband. I've even felt comfortable enough to pop in for a sneaky julep on my own after shopping. It fits the bill every time!"

"I went to the Bird in Hand on July 9th with two family members. The tables were nicely spaced out, so we didn't feel crowded. The service was quick and the staff were very friendly. We all ordered roast dinners, two lamb and one chicken. The portions were generous, beautifully presented, and served hot. In addition to the vegetables on the plate, we also received a dish of cauliflower and broccoli. For dessert, we all enjoyed the strawberry Eton Mess, which was delicious - not too sweet or tart. Overall, it was a great experience and we will definitely be returning."

"My sister and I took my parents to the curry room before heading to see a show for my dadâs birthday on a Saturday night. There was live music upstairs, which could clearly be heard in the restaurant downstairs. It wasnât too loud and for us added to the atmosphere, but some may not have liked it. They were playing quite modern music as the upstairs is a bar area. The set menu includes popadoms with chutneys and a lamb samosa each. My sister is vegetarian and they catered for that no issues. Itâs quite a small starter, but enough food considering the size of the main and that you also get a dessert included in the set price. Some have said itâs expensive. I would say it is comparable to other fine dining Indian restaurants in central London. Itâs the location/ambiance that you are paying for. The food was fantastic. We tried everything between the four of us (I paid the supplement to try different dishes and the others ordered a different dish each). Everything tasted great. The service was second to none. We were not rushed at all. We were told about their own varietyâs of wines. We had their Sauvignon Blanc and it was very nice. I would return with friends if back in the area. It was a lovely evening."

"Visited koko for my birthday dinner and I have to say its one of the best asian restaurants I have been to. The food is amazing and the service is perfect. Sushmita was so pleasant and lovely. We had the best experience with her ! Conpliments to the chef as well because the food was absolutely delicious. Cannot say it enough times that this restaurant needs a Michelin accreditation! Will definitely go back. Service: Dine in"

"The team at Salt Marsh Kitchen were super helpful. We were looking for somewhere to take out food from (as we were travelling with our dog that served good quality sea food and the gentleman we spoke to checked in with us and gave us an updated menu via facebook. We called on the day to order, and it was ready in 20-30 minutes. The restaurant looks lovely inside and has a nice selection of local gins and whiskeys. We had some local cider which was delicious. The paella was everything I wanted it to be. Really generous portions and full of flavour. My partner had the fish and chips which he said were great (peas not photographed as he doesn't eat them, so more for me! . It all travelled really well back to our campsite outside Aberdyfi. The puddings were amazing too and I'll be dreaming of that coconut panacotta for a long time. Thanks so much! Will definitely visit again when we're back this way!"

"I have gone to the Garibaldi many times especially under the previous owners who always provided a warm welcome and delicious food 7 days a week. Unfortunately under the new management I have to write a very poor review of a so called Sunday roast and very poor service too. A bit like Fawlty Towers that was filmed around the corner in Bourne End. When I first arrived it took ages for someone to come and ask what we wanted to drink and we were then left for 15 minutes before I had to ask if someone would take my food order. We both went for the large roasts turkey and beef with side vegetables. A couple of locals walk in get drinks and service snd their roasts before us, when our vegetables and roasts arrived they were cold and the meat rare. We had to ask for the meat to be reheated. When I was asked if I wanted another drink they did not have any more Merlot. When our food did come back it was just about edible. We were left for ages after we had finished our mains and had to ask for pudding. The apple pie was reasonable but we had to take our empty pudding plates to the bar as we wanted an Irish coffee and after waiting and no one collecting our empty plates we were then told their coffee machine was not working. Please bear in mind this pub only offers home cooked roasts on a Sunday and the rest of the week they get in out sourced caterers. The so-called land lady did not come around to ask if the food was OK or to welcome new clientele and the pub dog is allowed to roam around and sniff your food. Needless to say we will not be returning but we recommend the Cricketers at Littlewick Green for great service and a fabulous Sunday roast."

"The special starter was a small salmon roulade appetiser. Very tasty and well presented. Main course was lamb, deliciously cooked to a delicate pink. It did not come with green vegetables so I ordered a side dish of broccoli and spinach. Both were perfectly cooked. I gave in to a small slice of treacle tart that was worth all the calories. One glass of white wine and sparkling water topped off a delicious meal. It was very expensive at nearly £80.00. The restaurant is in the hub of the Balmer Lawn Hotel and largely open plan located beside the reception. Whilst the restaurant staff are excellent and attentive the restaurant lacked an upmarket restaurant ambiance and decor were not suited for such an expensive meal."

"While the food was tasty and steak was cooked to perfection, the horrible service and very long delays in getting served results in a rare 2 star review. Having read gushing positive reviews about this place, my girlfriend and I.. Tourists from out of town decided to stop by. We called and booked a table for 2 at 630pm. We arrived at 620pm and we're promptly seated. The evening is looking great. Then things started to go downhill. It took us 15 mins to get our orders taken..with 2 tables who arrived after us being served first by the pony tailed sole waitresses there. I waved her down and politely informed her we were ready to order, but was told in a somewhat mocking demeanor that she would be right with me. It took her another 10mins to get back to us. The 2 items we wanted to order.. Ribs and and the risotto were not available. No one told us in advance. Big letdown. To add salt to the wound, the one low alcohol beer on the menu also wasn't available. Food took even longer to arrive. We waited 40 mins before both our burger and steak arrived. Though the taste was good and portions were generous, the accompanying sauce was way too little for a steak of that size. Although my cutlery was swapped out to include a serrated knife, my partner wasn't even given a steak knife. She relied on a bread knife to cut her burger. We asked for water and I made it clear we wanted hot water. We were served a water jug with cold water. End of the night, we can't help feeling very frustrated at the quality of service and long food wait times. We weren't the only ones. We noticed other tables too incurred at least 30 min wait times for food. Perhaps we are an Asian couple.. Was this the reason our table was skipped not once but twice in getting orders taken? One can't help but to draw conclusions. Given the chance, we won't be back again. There are many other establishments in the area worth exploring. With hopefully better table service. If you decide to come here, come very early and hopefully you're of the right skin color to receive proper table service that deserves your hard earned money. And be prepared for long wait times for your food. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £20–30 Food: 4 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2"

"fantastic. family had a brilliant time for an evening meal and eating and service was impeccable. from the arrival to the spacious parking space on the back with a recently built children's playground and with the magnificent vista, we had a great time. the area was very clean and well equipped. our waitress was very friendly and efficient. our drinks arrived very quickly. the food was very well cooked and very tasty. dessert was also spicy. bar area looked good at camp and aim to try it too. also friendly locals. there are also two outer areas, one on the front with the village as a view and one on the back with the landscape. I understand that they also have some rooms for rent on the side, but have not seen, so can not comment on it. overall we will definitely come back and stand up to try not earlier."

"Won 't be visiting again. Ordered roast dinner, which was inedible. Beef was all fat. Roast potatoes like bullets, couldn 't be cut. For some reason beetroot was on the plate. Never known with a roast before. Yorkshire hard. Some round rock hard thing...we assume perhaps celeriac?! Couldn 't tell as was tasteless. We had 2 mouthfuls at most and couldn 't eat it. Told the waiter, who 's attitude was a lot to be desired. He stated, oh well they were last two ,so probably been sat an hour! We said we would pay for the drinks and leave. One of which was a carafe of wine, which had just a small amount taken from it. The rest of the wine was still in the carafe. I stated I 'd pay for a glass. He said no you won 't, there 's nothing wrong with the wine! . I said then if I 'm paying, I 'll take it with me , as was £17. He handed me a takeaway coffee cup with a hole in, to carry my wine! Appalling food, disgusting service. Noted more comments on here with similar reviews. Wish we had seen beforehand. Food drinks: Won 't be visiting again. Ordered roast dinner, which was inedible. "Fabulous meal for our wedding anniversary weekend, at one of our favourite places in the area. We shared tiger prawns to start which were covered in the lightest batter I’ve ever had. Our venison ragout was exceptional and the vegetables delicious. We couldn’t manage a pudding so I had coffee which was also rather tasty. Good selection of wine, and drinks from the bar. The restaurant is very prettily decorated, the atmosphere is welcoming and comfortable, the staff are friendly and helpful, service is quick but not rushed, in all making this a lovely place to be. We visited again on 30 December and have once again enjoyed a stunning meal. We love this place! Our tiger prawn starter was just as good as our previous visit, my seafood risotto was divine and my husband’s Moroccan Chicken was amazing. We had to indulge in desserts and were not disappointed by the cheesecake and lemon chaboust which were both delicious. Can’t wait to visit again soon."

"Food was excellent, I'd ale steak pie with potatoes and vegetables. I'd of happily had double amount of vegetables. The pastry on pie was perfect. Dessert was good as well. Easy parking as well as disabled access at front door, side door is used for everyone else. I'd booked table, confirmed accessible. Highly recommended. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch"

"Absolutely fantastic food, with great attention to flavour and texture that was completely unexpected. Not tonnes of options as a vegetarian, but what I had (cheese souffle, mushroom soup) was *absolutely* delicious and I would order the exact same again. Incredible desserts, wonderful service, and the best (rhubarb) negroni I've had. Truly a joy! Would go back in a heartbeat. Vegetarian options: 2 3 vegetarian dishes per starter and main. I preferred the starter options so had a couple of those as my main instead and did not regret it!"

"We were debating about where to have dinner on our last night in the area and ended up booking dinner at Mousetrap. We were not disappointed! The building itself is very cute and we loved the subtle mouse related decor; it as fun to spot them. The food was generous and hearty with a very nice job in the plating creating a lovely first impression. I ordered the spinach and mushroom Pithivier and it was delicious..definitely not something I can get back home. My better half very much enjoyed his chicken. We had just enough room left to share a delicious dessert which also looked great."

"I do not recommend ordering the fresh prawns at this restaurant as they were not fresh at all. They were served cold and seemed to have been recently defrosted, with a strong fishy odor and some unpleasant residue inside. They were served without any lemon or seasoning, only the unpleasant smell. After eating, I had to stop at the store for Imodium as I felt I might become ill. The burger main dish was also disappointing, as it was tasteless, dry, and lacking seasoning. For £14.50, it was not a good value for money, as it only came with a burger and chips, with no slaw or relish. I will not be returning to this restaurant."

"Turned up on spec but was able to get a table for both of us. We ordered from the early bird menu which was £21 for 2 courses £26 for 3) and was genuinely impressed by the food which was really nice. Drinks are a little expensive £3 for a can of coke) but otherwise great value. Pictures inc steak which is a £5 supplement. Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4"
