"This hotel restaurant may be unassuming, but it exceeds expectations with its incredible dishes. It reminds us of the high-quality dining experiences we used to find in abundance in London. Each course we tried was exquisite, with standout dishes like the Asian coleslaw, beef rib, and sticky toffee and banana pudding. The smoked mac 'n cheese was also quite tasty. The menu offers a wide variety of options at a fraction of the cost compared to similar restaurants in London. If you're tired of overpriced pub food and pizzas in London, this is the place to go."

"The food was fantastic, featuring authentic Neapolitan-style pizza made with fresh ingredients. The charming little restaurant, which can only seat 10, is beautifully decorated and creates a cozy atmosphere where you immediately feel at home. I’m thrilled to recommend this place to anyone looking for a great dining experience. Kid-friendliness: They offered a highchair right away and provided thoughtful suggestions for kid-friendly meals. Plus, the interaction between the owner and our son was wonderful. Service: Dine-in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5"

"We stopped by on our way home from Quarry Bank Mill and had a lovely evening. Every employee was friendly and cheerful, and we were especially well taken care of by Manager Jake. Our meal was delicious—I was fortunate enough to have the last brat beef, and it was the best roast I've had in a long time. I couldn't resist stealing a bite of my partner's banana soufflé and immediately regretted not ordering one for myself, as it was divine. I loved the ambiance and the friendliness of the pub, and I will definitely return."

"Food visually appealing with zero taste. Staff told us that vegan customers have complained so much that they have removed fish sauce from their cuisine. Basically taking a fundamental element out of Thai cuisine. I find this appalling that a menu can by hijacked in such a way. Awful."

"Just back from two nights at the Balmer Lawn Hotel. It was decorated brilliantly for Halloween I had asked for a quiet room which we received. It was very clean and good housekeeping. There wasn't any heating in the room. There appeared to be a boxed in radiator under the window, which wasn't on, and nowhere to adjust it! There was a heated rail in the bathroom, thankfully. The plug in the bath was stuck in the plughole, so we had to use a spoon to release the water after bathing. We did notify reception. The staff were all very nice and the hotel is situated in a lovely location. Although the presentation and evening meals were delicious, there was a long wait. We were told the first evening by the young lady waitress that she would not put our order through as she did not want to overload the kitchen staff. At that point, there were only five tables seated in the main restaurant. On the second evening, we ordered two cold desserts, one being ice cream. We waited thirty minutes and had not received them, so we cancelled our order. Overall, it was a nice stay."

"Went for Sunday lunch, really good value for money at 24.95 for three courses. I had soup, beef and chocolate delice, my partner had mackerel, venison and the banana pudding and a cheeseboard. The bread was tasty and the amuse boucher was okay. The soup was great, velvety and nice flavour, the mackerel starter was a big portion and the skin ok the fish wasn't torched but that was a minor fault. The beef brisket was soft and delicious, the portions were good sizes. Roast potatoes not very crispy but good flavour. The venison main was slightly misleading on the menu as it mention a sweet potato cake and it wasn't expected that the venison would come incorporated into the cake, it wasn't to my taste personally. Both desserts were delicious! We also took a toddler with us and they were very accommodating to say it doesn't give the vibe of being suitable for young families as they do not supply high chairs but we had no problem taking our own. The venue itself was lovely, cozy and full of character and then staff were attentive and thorough."

"Went with a bunch of friends for my birthday. Had been to the Aeronaut many years previously for their circus night and it had been incredible. This night was a 'game show ' night. We paid a not inconsiderable sum (about £25 each? to enter an empty room with a couple of lame drag artists. Another table got a couple of people arrive. It got to showtime and the room was completely dead, I 'd checked with the lady on the door and she said it would fill up. Miraculously, about 10 minutes later a load of people flooded in the door. At the bar half way through the evening (which was lame, I was right! I asked a couple of the people at the bar if they 'd paid to come in. No, they hadn 't. I found the woman in charge and asked for a refund. We were basically the only paying punters in there. I found the policy very disingenuous. Over charging mugs like us in advance and then letting about 50 people in for free on the night to fill it?! Thankfully, the only positive thing I could say is, they gave us a refund the next day. Left a sour taste though that was my birthday night ruined at the time."
