"Oh, we were muddy, wet and probably a bit smelly (back from a rainy walk that took us through a forest and into a cave)... The public room and restaurant look quite nice when you enter the hotel, so I was a little bit apprehensive... I wouldn't have been offended if they'd said lunch wasn't served anymore, just to keep us out. And yet, and yet. We were given a great table, next to a bay window with a beautiful sea view. Service was very kind and efficient. Kids menu was very decent. My fish and chips was really good. The tomato soup was delicious. The restaurant is very nicely decorated. Maps of Arran printed on the lamp shades. Lots of free parking just outside. The cherry on top of the cake? The prices are very reasonable."

Good food, excellent service. Little pricy, but to be expected at a best western. Will be going back in a few days time as their lunch menu looks excellent too.

The restaurant had poor service. It was crowded at the hotel, making it difficult for staff to attend to customers. We wanted to eat, but had to sit outside in the wind because there was not enough room inside.

We stopped at a conveniently situated bar for a meal before starting our walk to the nearby King's Caves. The avocado and crayfish with potato salad was delicious and also suitable for those with gluten and dairy restrictions. View menu

Stayed and dined at the Kinloch hotel on Arran, food was very good, varied but not over complicated menu, starter, mains and desserts all first class, even if you don't stay at the hotel the restaurant is worth a visit. Also staff are amazing so friendly and polite.

We spent three nights in the hotel with B&B. All attended the main dining room each evening. The food was enjoyable and filling, nothing startling, but this is a three-star family-run hotel. I have eaten and paid exorbitant prices in many other establishments which boasted better experiences to be left very underwhelmed. The only honest criticism was that the vegetarian options were limited; three nights' dinner was roughly the choice.

During our honeymoon on Arran, we decided to have lunch at this restaurant. We were very pleased with the menu, which had a variety of options. I ordered the chicken gyros and my partner ordered the cajun chicken burger, with the option of adding haggis which excited him. After our meal, we enjoyed a pot of tea in the lounge area overlooking the seafront. The hotel was lovely and if we ever return to the area, we would definitely consider staying here again. Went for lunch with friends and really disappointed. Two meals were returned straight away and the other two were only average. The two returned meal were then replaced and these were also inedible; fish chips with undercooked batter which was colourless. Staff were apologetic and friendly and not their fault but the chef had no excuse as we were the only diners. No charge was made for the two returned meals but lunch was ruined by that point. Perhaps a complimentary drink or alternative should have been offered. Really poor and will not return.

Just back from 2 night break on the Isle of Arran. The Kinloch a family run Best Western is in a fantastic location. What a lovely village Blackwaterfoot is and the hotel has prime position. Staff all friendly with nothing being a problem. Sea view room with refurbed bathroom and comfy bed….what more can you ask for…..well the dog loved it too as they allow 1 dog per hotel room. Overall a fantastic stay in a superb location. Ps had dinner both nights here too and the food was excellent and great value for money. Thanks to all the staff as we really did have a lovely relaxing time.
