"A few problems with this restaurant in my view. The service was slow and inconsistent. At one point our coffee arrived with a bowl of sugar, even though we said we didn’t want sugar. It was taken away just to remove the sugar bowl, forgotten about and then arrived some minutes later. The food was, at best, average. My wife quite liked her pate and seafood linguine. However, although my fish soup was OK, the bouillabaisse was nothing like any bouillabaisse I’ve had before. A few pieces of fish, a couple of prawns in, what appeared to be, a thickened version of the fish soup again. Totally insubstantial. Unfortunately we were also close to the service lift so had to put up with endless banging and clattering. It was surprising that the service was so poor because the restaurant was probably less than 25% full. Not great value for money."

"while the croque monsieur was as good as it always was, I had to ask for a refund for one of the two separate sides of chips; both were dry, felt again heated and were certainly not fresh. will make sure to check the next time and ask if they can be freshly cooked still recommend the place a very small output oh and £6.20 for a pint koks was a little steep!"

"Booked for a pre theatre dinner. Husband disabled and the staff took great care to position us downstairs and pointed out the disabled toilet. Service was attentive and just the right pace. Food was fine, good presentation, not badly priced for theatreland. Fish and chips is recommended as a main, the fish was cooked perfectly, lovely and moist with a light batter. Lovely decor, would have loved to have sat upstairs with a scenic view but husband is unable to manage stairs. Downstairs did begin to get noisy towards the end of the meal, people who came for just the bar had no volume control."

"We went to The Kings Head to celebrate my husbands birthday. We booked in advance and initially things weren’t too bad but after ordering the food it all went down hill! We arrived at 7.30 and at 8.30 we were still waiting for starters, the starter I ordered didn’t state it sits on mayonnaise hence when it arrive I sent it back as I don’t eat mayonnaise. I was then told that another starter would take 10 minutes so I told them not to worry and I would stick to the main on it’s own, a minute later our waitress came back with my new starter which actually was the original one that they had just moved onto a different plate and tried to hind the mayonnaise it had on it!! Hence I told them I didn’t want it, and hour later our mains arrived, which my friends was completely cold and very dry so it was sent away, they removed mains from the bill and told us that a large table that they had, had caused chaos which affected everyone else in the restaurant! Wouldn’t go back."

"Came here for something to eat/anniversary dinner before going to Sadler's Wells.....normally we go to The Gate further down towards the Theatre but its closed so we needed a new venue without just walking around. I found this on line. This was perfect.....The main courses...of Steak and Muscles we had were perfectly cooked as was the location and the staff.....especially the staff. However....the best bit was the Banoffee and Ice cream desert......just perfect and lovely....Make sure you have space for desert....I think during the day they will do lots of deserts with a cup of tea as these are all at the front of the Restaurant. There are a lot of places in this area...In our experience if you chose the F&O you will have a great meal, in a great location. Thank you for starting our evening off in a perfect way....And the Nutcracker at SW was great as well."

"We went early and they were able to accommodate which was good. But there was only one server for like tables so we didn’t get great service unfortunately due to this which I can appreciate he was working hard. My coke was flat and he said he was unable to give me another. I asked for hot sauce and he said he’d be back and never came back with anything. My pizza made me feel really ill afterwards. And because we were seated right at the bathrooms I saw the chef go into the toilet and he wasn’t wearing a mask which was unsettling"

"great food, great size of dishes, fast and courteous service. we were full and satisfied; I would recommend this place. I had a lamb moussaka while my friend had a grilled halloumi salat: both delicious; salat was warm a nice eating the “fork festival” offer included net, burger and chef specialties. it was good for us, as this is what we have come for, but if they were willing to start / desserts it would be full price. while we waited for the meal, we were served with olive and warm bread: we didn't wait long."

"Brasserie Joel is situated in a hotel and quite a few of the diners were residents. It thus felt somewhat impersonal. The menu was standard brasserie fare, with nothing exciting or original, but plenty of tried-and-trusted favourites to choose from. Our waitress was on her first day (which she did apologise for) but spoke virtually no English and didn’t have a clue about the menu, so we could only order by pointing at the menu. When she brought someone to help (a manager I think), he still failed to inform me that the main ingredient of a dish I asked about was cheese (describing it as a Gazpacho). Ultimately the food was well cooked and decently presented, with a tarte tatin being particularly delicious. Next to the restaurant there is a nice bar, which was perfect for a digestif. However, the price, at £90/head (including a £65 bottle of fairly ordinary Pouilly Fume) seemed very steep for a brasserie and there are similar restaurants in the area at a far lower price point."

"The restaurant was quite full at 7:30pm with large parties and noisy children. In fairness it was Valentine's Day. Whilst it is always nice to see families with children dining together the somewhat intimate ambience the brasserie seems to target does not seem best suited to young diners. Possibly the problem is that hotel does not offer a more suitable restaurant option for those with youngsters. The bar area serves food but is rather large and not exactly cosy. The food was OK. The onion soup was extremely tasty but the cheese in it was surprisingly over generous making it a struggle to eat. The wine list is as you would expect in a London hotel, was quite expensive but with some excellent options. I made the mistake of asking for a brief pause between starters and main which as it always inevitably does, turned into an unacceptably long delay."

"We visited for Sunday lunch and really enjoyed the food and the attentive service as well as that it is dog friendly as well. My starter was the goats cheese salad, it was done very well and attractively presented with a mustard, honey balsamic dressing; which really delivered the sweet/salty and slightly acidic flavour that complemented the goats cheese. I followed this with the roast beef. The beef was wonderfully tender, rare-medium that I like, with plentiful gravy, root vegetables (parsnips and carrots), cauliflower cheese and roast potatoes. The potatoes were beautifully done, obviously cooked in lots of fat that made them wonderfully buttery on the inside but still crisp on the outside. My wife had the crab salad as a starter followed by the roast duck. She likes her duck well done, rather than rare, and commented that it was just right; being succulent and not allowed to go dry which can be the case when she has ordered this dish elsewhere. Clearly there is a talented chef at work here. My portions were a good size and the staff were attentive without being intrusive. We will certainly be coming back."

"I visited Putney Canteen to meet my friend Danielle Kinsella for brunch a few weeks ago. I had heard about this place on Zomato and wanted to try it out. I opted for the vegetarian breakfast, which included 2 poached eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, beans, a vegetarian sausage, a hash brown, spinach, and toast. I was disappointed that the eggs were overcooked and not runny. Despite this, the rest of the breakfast was a good value for the price. We also shared the delicious banana pancakes with blueberries and maple syrup. We sat near the kitchen and enjoyed reading more about the restaurant."

"My friend and myself came here for afternoon tea as we had a voucher. The waitress very kindly moved us outside as it was a lovely day. We asked for no salmon as I was pregnant and my friend doesn't eat fish, the Waitress offered us to replace them with ham and cheese sandwiches. The salmon arrived on the sandwich platter anyway, it was taken back and changed but when it came back there were less sandwiches on the plate? A waiter took over the service and was not easy to locate for tea and coffee refills. Unfortunetly the scones were stale but still edible. Overall the experience was ok but I wouldn't come here again for afternoon tea or food. The bar area looks ok for a drink."

"Superb food and fantastic service. We were celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary and were presented with complimentary drinks on arrival. With our desserts was a lovely chocolate written 'happy anniversary ' message with complimentary dessert wines. Would definitely recommend. This was our first visit and we will be definitely returning"

"he personal was beautiful and has included our needs. we came into a large group and they could put us and do this with a smile. my only chewing gum would be the odd proportion of yogurt on granola (even tee spoon yogurt on all pieces of granola). Of course, it was dry although my friend did not have the mut to ask me so that it is really on her.Worth a visit and quite charming I would say."

"Sunday dinner was okay, but could have been better. the roast beef and roast lamb was cooked for our lust, we prefer it on the rare side! I think our meals were blocked and must have been a delay in serving because the vege and grave were on the cool side. not very cold enough to send back. but would have been better to serve immediately if clad and perhaps the engraving in a cripple on the table, where it will keep the heat longer! the workers were attentive and pleasant, though. and the atmosphere was improved when the log fire was illuminated:"

"we were driven by windsor and were for the weekend. the booking was last minute and we found the moment when we went to the staff, were attentively healing and extremely helpful. the menu and specialities for every taste meat eater fish and vegetarian. service was fast eating hot and tasty. I recommend a visit."
"like most people who are eaten with eating and eating, I am against chains in general. that is because they are through their natural places that have removed the whole heart and the soul and the idiosyncracy from them. the things we actually are looking for. it must be. everything is formulated in the rule and strictly regulated by the office. it is a system that works to a certain degree. I was trying to try the new côte brasserie. since the sad defeat of Relais de venise l' entrecôte last year, there is nowhere that I can go to know in the city for simple steakfrites. we just don't have the small local family leading French bistro to the corner that's been there for years, so where else is it? they couldn't afford the high-city rentals for a start. they can only afford to get in. (maybe we don't have a good tapas bar now until ibérica can move next year.)"

"Went to Korova for dinner with my husband and enjoyed 3 courses, a cocktail and wine. The restaurant is lovely understated and relaxed whilst still managing to feel special. The food is excellent, we had scallops and french onion soup as starters, fresh pappardelle and pheasant as mains and shared a salted caramel and chocolate dessert. All of the food was very good beautifully presented, decent sized portions and very well executed. Delicious! Very lucky to have this restaurant nearby."

"the vine is overrated. for a work dinner and despite the order first my order did not appear for an hour, and that was only after I had chased the staff up. my order was delivered to another table. all the others on my table had delivered their food. When my order arrived, everyone was finished on my table. our one-hour lunch break was over, and I had to hurry to eat. I was paid a pale 2 pounds. I spent £14.50 when my burger was beaten, said the waitress, where is burger girl insulting. I can't believe that I've been addressed like that. How is this professional service? Let's not even talk about eating. chips were so overcooked that I could not eat...read more"
