"Myself and my Husband visited Cafe Rouge, The Mail Box on Saturday 10th September for my Husband's birthday meal.As Always we enjoy the experience very much,as we alway's do. Very friendly attentive staff,and a good choice of food on the menus.Plus because they are one of the group of retaurant's where you can use your Tesco's Club Card Voucher's a meal that should have cost £73.15 cost £33.15! I would recommend this particular Cafe Rouge to anyone!"

"We had a very nice evening at Cafe Rouge Ruislip. The food was delicious and they had everything that was on the menu. The staff were very attentive without becoming a nuisance and nothing was too much trouble. The atmosphere was lovely, friendly but not too loud. We were able to chat and catch up with our friends without having to shout. We did have a voucher which made the meal good value. Would definitely recommend."

"Had the worst experience I’ve ever had to endure in a restaurant. Had booked for a Christmas dinner with friends and the service and food was so appalling I’m not being dramatic when I say it ruined the event. The waitress we had didn’t care at all about us and made it obvious she was frustrated with our presence despite us being friendly and communicative. The chef has obviously given up and produced some of the saddest looking plates I’ve seen. No effort had gone into producing the food; items missing, no garnishes, plain. We did not complain however. Then at the end we were accused of being short on the bill, yet we could see they had not accounted for someone who had already paid and left earlier. The manager could not seem to understand English and simply demanded we pay. The waitress understood but made no effort to rectify and simply stood aside watching. Worst experience ever!!!"

"The food is good and good, although the Café Rouge, which we visited in Oxford (Saturday lunch time, not full), was fairly chaotic and with the appearance not terrible well managed. We explained at the beginning, we had a short time limit of one hour; the food was quickly produced, but when we asked for coffee, they did not come, although the bill containing coffee was quickly produced. We said the coffee just came, but it was not (and the coffee machine area is filled with dirty cups and no one to participate). Then we asked for a adjusted bill and went. No big complaint, but it could have been handled better."

"It was certainly an experience. Food was lukewarm, it took an hour from arrival before any food turned up, additional items ordered from the menu did not arrive, service was non existent throughout and despite asking for the dessert menu, 25 minutes later we were still waiting. Our waitress was apologetic but the manager avoided conflict and didn't come over to apologise. Previously our visits there have been excellent but for now we won't be returning for a while and I would recommend avoiding at all costs, especially on a Saturday night!"

"Booked here for New Year’s Eve as it’s the only place that didn’t do a rip off set menu. Pleasantly surprised. Food was very good in a very authentic French bistro atmosphere. It’s the sort of chain I’d probably normally not bother with but actually the ambiance was lovely, the service fantastic and no pressure to order any more or any less than what you actually want! They laid on Christmas crackers and a sweet buffet for the kids which was a really nice touch. Group of 7 of us with two children, parents and grandparents for dinner, no pressure to leave our table and just generally relaxed and perfect for every age group. Really changed my perceptions of the cafe rouge chain and I’m ashamed at my previous snobbery. Give it a go for any occasion you won’t regret it."

"We were searching for a nearby place to grab a fast and convenient Valentine's Day meal and were pleasantly surprised to discover that a musician had been brought in for the evening, enhancing the atmosphere and making us want to savor our dining experience. However, the staff appeared to be a little too eager to speed up the delivery of our courses, and it would have been preferable if they had taken a more relaxed approach. The fixed menu was a fantastic deal and the food was delightful. We will definitely be returning in the future."

"Chose dishes, my choice was not available, we were not told this when the menu was handed out. Bread was stale. Main course took an hour to arrive. When it did arrive one plate which was burger and chips was cold. Baked salmon was under seasoned but fine apart from that. One member of staff who looked a key member was very scruffy and not dressed professionally. We aired our disappointment at the food , (as were other customers)the manager did not come over to apologise to us or other complaining tables but did knock the price of the wine off. Thank you."

"the lime bar in some of the lowry cans serves something nice to eat, but is certainly more of a bar, as the name suggests, the quality of eating is certainly not secondary, but it is no relaxed culinary experience given its nature. As long as they are aware of this, they will enjoy their visit. there is also a dichotomy. the menu. this place is really not quite sure what he tries to be. there italian, asian, mexican quintessential English and quite any other genre they like to call. I just choose the booze of pork, malayan huhn, lamb tagine, piri piri huh. eating is exalted. really well cooked and delicious. I had beautified prawns and chorizo followed by the pan fried sea bass. Both courses were served very fast and with friendly service. with a glass wein the total bill was just over £30. the quality of the food was worth this amount. if you see a show in the lowry or go to the cinema or just shop here, this location is a great place to eat."

"Typical Cafe Rouge Fayre. Good food at reasonable prices. Beautiful water side location in sight of the hose station, but away from the crazy crowd. Unfortunately, we waited for our main course for over 45 minutes because the employees chat in a corner and the cook had a cigarette outside. "We do visit other Cafe Rouge establishments where the service has been good but I don't think we've ever had satisfactory service in Bury St Edmunds, which is our local restaurant. Here it always seems to take an inordinate length of time to get our meal, regardless of how busy it is. On this occasion, there was only a handful of customers dining but we had to wait over minutes for our meal. The waitress had to be asked for things that should have been supplied as a matter of course, e.g. Steak knives. We also had to ask more than once for other items, e.g.drinks. Poor Show!!"

"We used to dine at this restaurant frequently and enjoyed the great food, child-friendly environment, quick and friendly staff, and good value. However, during our recent visit on Mother's Day, my wife arrived before me and struggled to get a pram through the door while the manager watched without offering assistance. When we tried to order, we were informed that half of the menu items were already sold out. My wife's filet steak arrived overcooked despite ordering it medium, and when she brought this up to the server, they just shrugged it off. The service was slow and lacking attentiveness throughout the meal. To top it off, we found errors on the bill before payment, adding to our disappointment. It seems like there may have been a change in management leading to a decline in the quality of both the service and food. Overall, our experience left us feeling let down and we won't be returning in the future. It's disheartening to see a once great restaurant go downhill, especially on a special occasion."

"I found it very easy to book online, and the table was ready immediately when we arrived. it was a small sleeper at our table, but it was okay, temperature was pleasant. the restaurant had friendly staff, and service was quite fast, we had a pot tee that was a nice size, both of us had steak (rumpf) mine was excellent I love it if I had a totally gristle free cut, my partner was good, but not so happy. we eat our blue and it was cooked quite nicely. the deserts were beautiful, we had the lemon tart, it was sharply tender and refreshing, and the rhabarb and ingwer crumbling, also very tasty, a crispy fragile and beautiful zingy tasteful filled with ice. will certainly come back when the value of the food here!"

"I made a reservation online and received a confirmation email, but when we arrived, our booking was not found. However, we were still able to get a table. I ordered a chicken dish that I thought would be breast meat, but it turned out to be on the bone - my mistake for not checking. One piece was good, but the other was so tough that I couldn't separate it from the bone. For dessert, I ordered an Eton Mess, which was essentially a bowl of yogurt with pieces of meringue. The service was good, but the quality of the food was lacking."

"Celebrated my birthday with family, food was nice but expensive for what you got. They had ran out of the wine we wanted, which was a shame as we'd booked for 5pm so it wasn't like it was late at night. "Cafe Rouge is a classic and welcoming restaurant with plenty of space and friendly service. However, on Mother's Day, it was extremely busy and there were some delays in serving. Despite some complaints from other tables, the waiter worked hard and was apologetic. The French onion soup was delicious, but the medium rare steak was overcooked, which was a letdown. This restaurant is child-friendly and a great place to spend a few hours, despite the mishaps. I would definitely visit again."

However, our recent experience on Mother's Day was disappointing. When my wife arrived slightly before me, the manager watched her struggle with a pram and did not offer to help. Additionally, half of the menu items were already sold out by noon. When the food did arrive, my wife's medium steak was overcooked and solid. The server did not address her concerns, and the service was slow overall. We were also overcharged, which I thankfully noticed before paying. It is disappointing to see the decline in the quality of the restaurant, likely due to a change in management. Our experience left us feeling ripped off and put a damper on our special occasion. Unfortunately, we do not plan to return to this restaurant."

Table booked and arrived at 5pm order taken 5.15 with hardly anyone in the restaurant; first course arrived 5.40 and although very tasty the mushroom vol au vent had been microwaved and gone cold with soggy pastry. Main courses, after reminding waiter, arrived at 6.25 with an apology. We were due at theatre at 7pm so no dessert! House wine very pleasant and set menu meal good value."
