"If you are looking for something other than the mundane monotony then this place offers that. A we'll set out bistro/restaurant with plenty of seating upstairs and downstairs. They have a separate vegan menu which is always good to see and alternative milks on offer. It can be a bit pricey but once a a while it is worth the extra. The staff are very friendly and are normally on point unless it is very busy, which it can get at times. They also serve alcoholic beverages for those who want a wee dram or wine with their meal, which can be nice. The food is good and staff know what their products are if you have any questions. Also nice if you want to pop in for a pot of tea and admire the amount of Just Eat, Deliveroo and Uber drivers all rushing in and out of the well known burger joint opposite. A big thumbs up for this place from me."

"my gf had a cone with espresso coffee ice cream, our friend had some funky blue ice cream in a cone I had a malteaser milkshake to wash pancakes served with maple syrup. the ice and the cone were great, the milkshake was triumphant. the maple syrup was of the highest quality as the pancakes that was the smallest deductor, although it is understandable, have no hot pan to make fresh pancakes, but I was happy enough with 3 very large high-end storage pancakes. we are in a really comfortable diner style and added to a very pleasant frozen milk experience. I'm so glad."

"Upon arrival the table with our name on was wet, previous customers glasses still there and an empty silver cutlery pot. I had to remove the glasses myself and dry table with a serviette. Also on the table was a reserved from 8pm by someone else. Which put pressure on straight away meaning we couldn’t just relax and enjoy but had to rush things along. Ordering food was easy the girl that served us at the bar took our order and the food came out perfectly. The food was cooked perfectly for all on the table and we enjoyed with no complaints at all. 3 of the table ordered desserts and they all came out individually. The time from first dessert to the 2nd was a few minutes but then the 3rd dessert did not appear for around 5 mins and actually had to go back to the bar to ask about it. Again this only increased pressure to hurry. We have been several times over the last few months, and as this was my son’s birthday we invited grandparents to join us. Sadly we would not do this again. We will still continue to visit for just a couple of hours out but for a special occasion or group booking I would not recommend and would go elsewhere."

"My partner and I visited this restaurant twice during our 24-hour stay in Cardiff Bay. The location is fantastic, surrounded by many other restaurants. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and always had a smile on their faces. We had breakfast in the morning and a quick stop for some beers in the evening. We easily found a table, ordered our food and drinks through an app, and received them within 3-5 minutes. The service was excellent with no wait at the bar. The food was delicious, fresh, hot, and very tasty. The prices were very reasonable, which always makes us want to come back."

"almost perfect in terms of what we needed to do, almost. positiw: the pub (a greene king pub) has a good menu that was quite extensive for a Sunday, including both a frying option and the normal pub tariff. inside the pub felt spacious, with large tables that are beautifully spaced apart. everything seemed clean and the decor was nice. for us a clean high chair was overhauled. hand gel dispenser on the wall. clean toilets and baby changing facilities. bbacky warehouse and outdoor climbing frames were appreciated and were a good value. cake and hot drink offer for just £2.99 seemed extremely reasonable in wacky warehouse the brownie, millionaire shortbread and cirsch bakes were so good we bought more to take home! negatiw: we ordered a total of four meals. only one of them was released hot. all the others were cold when they came out. we thought the three meal times would have stayed on the side while they cooked the fourth? a real shame, because otherwise the meals were beautiful: fresh ingredients and well presented. over all, we would definitely return, but will cross our fingers that eating is hot next time."

"I just wanted to leave a review as I came to the Briar Rose for drinks and food on Saturday 24th June and I had never been in Brum before and my friends and I wanted to go somewhere for drinks in the evening. So we started at the spoons as it’s familiar the food was lovely as expected for spoons but the staff were superb! Even when I was nervous about eating my beyond burger that (of course) looked suspiciously like meat but I wanted to sing the praises of Connor who worked the bar with a grin and a falsetto song! I asked if he could point us in the direction of somewhere with live music so we could have a dance and I had the most wholesome conversation about live music and the place he recommended was amazing he really set us up for an incredible night! I hope you get to see Steel Panther soon Connor! Good luck with all your composing and above all Keep rocking "

"We come to the Gatehouse before Christmas for our 2 companies Christmas get together and what a wonderful night we had! we was a little late due to work and they gave our table away (completely acceptable we was at fault for still being at work) we said we just sit in bar and just have a few drinks and would eat anywhere we was not fussy as we was at fault but one of the Bar Staff Chelsea who was so friendly lovely went above and beyond to find us a table when one was free. Her Customer Service and bar skills was above and beyond and she’s certainly a asset to your team! Our Food we had burgers and Steak the Steak was just cooked to perfection was just beautiful and was so impressed compliments to the chef i believe her name maybe Shan we had a great start to our night and everything was just fabulous Thanks to your amazing members of staff"

"Me and my partner stayed in one of the rooms here over the weekend and it was lovely. Spacious room and bathroom with large shower (big enough for two. Good size TV mounted on the wall and a comfortable bed. Kettle, milk, sugar, tea coffee were also provided in the room with some little biscuits. We was on the third floor so didn't hear any noise from below and it's literally opposite town center so you have shops food places nearby. My only issue was the feather pillows so annoying and kept waking up with neck ache. All in all, for £56 a night, it was a bargain!"

"This restaurant experience was absolutely terrible. We had to ask five times for our desserts to come out. When my dessert finally arrived, it was still in the wrapper. I had to ask twice for spoons, and then for a plate. Despite ordering extra custard, I had to ask for it twice. The manager came over but didn't do anything to resolve the situation other than offer a refund. He claimed the extra custard was on a different dessert. I would not recommend visiting this place unless you absolutely have to. Avoid at all costs."

"the big porn is a big pub my twin brother step and I decided in how we pub hopping around byker, a big wetherspoon pub, that was a big sound. named after a whisky, the pub is excellent, typical wetherspoon decor...and furniture, a solid wood can be served dominates the main room, print and photos decorate the walls and there are many sitting possibilities in this pub both inside and outside in their yard to relax its large wetherspoon pub. we were here on a Monday afternoon, we grabbed a table, were my brother on the bar and ordered a fish chips meal each and for our drinks gins, tonic was absolutely superb, so delicious, very refreshing on a hot afternoon while we arrived our gins our meal times and what a leak. a large fish, slightly broken, beautifully seasoned, chips were plentiful and tasty, just a really good, filling meal, just what we needed, together with our gins for a great culinary experience made in a cool wetherspoon pub. After we finished our meal and our drink, we ordered a real ale, we chose both sharps brewery dom the high main pub is easy to find along the sheilds road. Opening times are: Monday to Thursday, until Friday Saturday, until midnight. Sunday, until a great Wetherspoon Pub, definitely worth checking if they are in the opposite."

"Absolute disaster. Arrived at Ordered food at kids starters came at Then no mains until which were barely warm. Kids and adults were climbing the walls. Had to ask for desserts as they were giving us our mains otherwise God knows what time we'd get out of there. No cutlery. Had to keep asking for it. Plates not cleared when desserts came. Had to eat around them. Tables with plates and glasses on everywhere. One table was like that when we came and still wasn't cleared when we left at No soap/hand gel/toilet roll in ladies. Female manager declared quite proudly to her colleagues that she was still drunk from the night before. Complained to manager who offered To take the desserts off the bill but these were already included in the meal deals and wouldn't have affected the price. Got off in the end. Have to say the young waitresses were lovely and we really felt sorry for them but I feel they just didn't get the support or training they need. Told them to get jobs elsewhere. Absolute shambles."

"The menu had several options on for each course despite being a reduced menu. We ordered the burger and fries (we don’t eat a lot of burgers apart from the occasional beyond burger) and we were impressed. I ordered the baked cheesecake for dessert as I was so impressed I wasn’t being fobbed off with a token vegan sorbet or ice cream as the only option and I have to say it was the best vegan cheesecake I’ve ever had!!!!!"

"Great new craft beer bar from the team behind The Old Fountain. Interesting tap selection, cool vibe, friendly staff. What more could I want? They aren't serving food at the moment, but you can order delivery to enjoy with your beer. A couple vegan burgers via Deliveroo went down very well on Saturday with a few pints of Verdant Lightbulb excellent way to spend an afternoon."

"Although the food in the past has been pleasant from here a few reasons why I have now changed my mind about visiting this restaurant would not recommend or revisit. A very wet takeaway was delivered from Wimpy via Uber when calling the restaurant the...manager said if you don't like it come collect your self! (I'm not sure how you've got any customers left with this attitude) I then visited after shopping in town I was going to sit and eat but I was told if I was eating in I was to remove my mask only when seated in a rude tone (seating area not in the restaurant but outside in the plaza?)I decided to order takeaway but was greeted by quite a rude manager who then decided to put my order over the other side of the seating area for me to collect obviously he's been very awkward. My daughter 20 also decided to visit the same week and treat her 12 year old sister to food when seated the same manager said do not run around! (they was just chatting seated at the time, I think a bit of power has gone to this guy's head Take note..... Until now, the rules on face coverings in restaurants, bars and takeaways have been confusing (obviously for George from wimpy Southend) People won't have to wear a mask in restaurants or bars, because it is impractical to do so while eating or drinking (not that we will be returning to wimpy Southend Mr rude manager)"

"Went here during lockdown when only takeaway was permitted by law. I had a lemon meringue in the square outside with a decaf americano. It was aaaaaamazing! Hubby enjoyed his peanut butter and chocolate cookie sandwich and green tea. I took similar offering along with a couple of mince and onion pies to my parents who demolished them apparently . I got a couple of takeaway pies for ourselves. My mince and onion pie put me into pie heaven. My husband 's curry pie was good too. I 'm so pleased this whole place is 100% plant based. So none of those awkward discussions about what is vegan. So lovely that it supports people with learning challenges. Will definitely return. Dog friendly too. A lovely square just outside with benches to eat takeaway fare in. There will be seating indoors when permitted. Great place incorporating the little bearded baker. They are hoping to expand their opening hours in due course and also seem to have a menu for hot food. Update: Visited again. Indoor dining open. Plenty of space. Clean. Good loos. Friendly capable staff with excellent supervision to ensure everything is perfect. Huge menu. I had a Christmas type sandwich sourdough, stuffing, cranberry sauce etc, delish. Husband had a beyond burger. We shared a lotus swirl which was very sweet and fudgy and a salted caramel brownie heated with 'cream '. Everything was very filling and tasty. Quite a popular spot. Hopefully introducing plant based eating to people who might not otherwise wander into a vegan cafe. Very positive vibe from customers and staff alike. Wonderful spot. Can 't wait to visit again. "This restaurant is a fantastic spot to enjoy breakfast after an early walk with your dog. Today, I was served by Darren, Dan, and Eliana. I had my favorite dish, the brown bread roast, along with a latte. The latte was so perfect for a chilly morning, and the bread they use is top-notch. It's a lovely place to start your day with a delicious meal. What really sets this place apart for me is the friendly and personable staff. Plus, they are dog-friendly. I highly recommend this place."

"Absolutely enjoyed our dinner tonight! Took advantage of the eat out to help out they are offering and I was so satisfied! Friendly staff, quick service and great portions of food, not to mention the taste! Loved the vegan options. Will definitely be back as not many places are vegan friedly yet. I also liked their atmosphere and décor. Premises are kept clean, including bathrooms, and safety precautions are taking place correctly : all staff wear masks, tables have a safe distance one to another, there's one door to enter and another to exit and plenty of sanitising stations. Very well done everybody!!!"

"The menu explains that they are committed to sustainability and ethics, and therefore offer a vegan options for every item on their menu. A lot of effort was put into the breakfast, with homemade baked beans and hash brown, This Is bacon, mushroom, tomato, and optional wilted spinach and a black pudding that was very tasty. Cocktails and mocktails available, as well as the usual coffees and a range of different teas. Not the cheapest place at £11 for the standard breakfast £2 for each extras) but well worth the price in my opinion. We were lucky enough to get a seat when we arrived, but it was very busy so definitely make a reservation."
