"We visited IOW for my boyfriends birthday and we visited on a Tuesday. As soon as we walked in we were greeted very warmly by the guys they were so welcoming. Everything was explained to us and they really could not have been more helpful. I'm gutted to say I didn't catch all of their names but the guys who we saw that day really made our experience of visiting a games cafe for the first time one we will never forget. There was one particular guy, aaron (I hope I have spelled this correctly! And my goodness he was so helpful with how to play games and always checking if we were OK. He is a complete asset to this business! We stayed there pretty much all day. The range of games they have is incredible, the place itself is kept so clean. The cocktails are amazing! Particularly the ticket to ride (Woo Woo we also ate here, we had the Cuban baguette which my bf had and he said it was one of the nicest baguettes he's ever had. I had the philly steak on wedges, absolutely delicious. We will be visiting the IOW again in the near future and we will 100% be returning. If you are looking for a very relaxed place to sit and forget about the world outside whilst playing some amazing boardgames, and have some of the friendliest people cater to you this is your place. "Look, I know its a Wetherspoons, but honestly this place is a reliably decent pub with good quality food. Give it a shot! I've had a better experience here than some high end restaurants that rely on waiters/waitresses! Never had food from here that I didn't enjoy, and everything is SO cheap! Been here like 6 times for food in the last month (a borderline addiction some would say . just because of the reliability of good food, minimal effort ordering process through the app, and extremely low cost (sometimes a giant burger and chips and drink are as low as £7! . If you're looking for a chilled out pub with mobile app ordering (no awkward ordering at the bar! yay! that is mostly filled with quiet pensioners eating or quiet solo drinkers for a nice bit of grub then this the place for you. "Needs to be more consistent I largely love the Cube food and would recommend it, but today felt that nobody was supervising. Food served with no checking if we needed sauces had to shout after the server to ask for condiments, then no one came to ask if it was ok (they normally do and it normally is! today it wasnt. It is also the second time I've felt uncomfortable in the day early evening in eating with children as a family meal, with over intoxicated loud customers and have left as soon as possible. I love Sunday lunch, most of the staff are lovely I just think perhaps the younger team need more training confidence to uphold standards all the time! Disappointed today will return when have forgotten about it to try again no doubt!"

"Monday lunchtime, and it was handy so my friend and I went there. Staff were lovely but table had not been wiped down. Food came. My burger was hard as rock and no flavour. Whisky sauce cold and congealed. Chips and onion rings were good, freshly cooked and hot. Disabled toilet was awful. Everyone was using it rather than go upstairs, which I can't being disabled. It was filthy and no water from tap. If it wasn't for the friendly, helpful staff it wouldn't have as many stars."

"We booked our Christmas get together, £19.99 great price for three courses... However, soup was cold but tasty, bread fresh and tasty. Meals tasty but steak in edible, I brought it home to slow cook tomorrow. Christmas pudding was actually a joke, two thin slices, I say thin, slithers would be better to describe it. Good taste though. Shame, as it's a great pub, great staff..."

"This restaurant chain is always a reliable choice and a great place to go with friends who eat everything. While the food is decent, the cocktails are probably the highlight. I appreciate that the staff pays close attention to allergies - I have a citrus allergy and they made sure to thoroughly clean the cocktail shakers before making my drink."

"If you are looking for something other than the mundane monotony then this place offers that. A we'll set out bistro/restaurant with plenty of seating upstairs and downstairs. They have a separate vegan menu which is always good to see and alternative milks on offer. It can be a bit pricey but once a a while it is worth the extra. The staff are very friendly and are normally on point unless it is very busy, which it can get at times. They also serve alcoholic beverages for those who want a wee dram or wine with their meal, which can be nice. The food is good and staff know what their products are if you have any questions. Also nice if you want to pop in for a pot of tea and admire the amount of Just Eat, Deliveroo and Uber drivers all rushing in and out of the well known burger joint opposite. A big thumbs up for this place from me."

"Upon arrival the table with our name on was wet, previous customers glasses still there and an empty silver cutlery pot. I had to remove the glasses myself and dry table with a serviette. Also on the table was a reserved from 8pm by someone else. Which put pressure on straight away meaning we couldn’t just relax and enjoy but had to rush things along. Ordering food was easy the girl that served us at the bar took our order and the food came out perfectly. The food was cooked perfectly for all on the table and we enjoyed with no complaints at all. 3 of the table ordered desserts and they all came out individually. The time from first dessert to the 2nd was a few minutes but then the 3rd dessert did not appear for around 5 mins and actually had to go back to the bar to ask about it. Again this only increased pressure to hurry. We have been several times over the last few months, and as this was my son’s birthday we invited grandparents to join us. Sadly we would not do this again. We will still continue to visit for just a couple of hours out but for a special occasion or group booking I would not recommend and would go elsewhere."

"My partner and I visited this restaurant twice during our 24-hour stay in Cardiff Bay. The location is fantastic, surrounded by many other restaurants. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and always had a smile on their faces. We had breakfast in the morning and a quick stop for some beers in the evening. We easily found a table, ordered our food and drinks through an app, and received them within 3-5 minutes. The service was excellent with no wait at the bar. The food was delicious, fresh, hot, and very tasty. The prices were very reasonable, which always makes us want to come back."

"Honestly this Wetherspoons it’s an awful branch! We ordered two meals on the Wetherspoons app for them to come out 5 minutes after. 10 minutes later we asked where our drinks was as they had still not arrived. Another ask to the waitress her response was “I don’t know let me check” never come back to us to update. At this point I had enough we finished our food and still no drinks. I had to go over to the bar to find they were just sat there, whilst waitresses are more bothered about collecting plates and obviously ignoring drink orders. We requested for a manager to speak to us she was not very helpful all she advised was, that she was busy. We understand that it was busy but it’s still not the point it takes 2 minutes to pour a drink and pop it over. She advised she will refund the drinks then stormed off as she was getting angry, well if you sort things out it wouldn’t be a problem.It takes longer to cook the food more than anything else. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU DONT WANT TO WAIT 30 MINUTES FOR A DRINK"

"When we walked into the restaurant as four separate families and happily offered to sit apart, we were met with disdain from the staff who told us we had no chance because there was only one chef working. The manager was rude and did not apologize for the inconvenience. Despite our willingness to accommodate the situation, we were turned away without any manners. If we had come in separately, they would have seated us without issue. This lack of hospitality has lost the restaurant a significant amount of potential business, and we will not be returning."

"A warm and welcoming atmosphere. Not loud, we called on a weekday during the school holidays and didn't notice any children in. Staff were very friendly and helpful. No separate vegan menu, no vegan mayonnaise, vegan options clearly labelled on the menu. Beyond burger was amazeballs. Had to pay for BBQ sauce as that was the only vegan sauce available to put on my burger. Not given 5* due to limited options for vegans. Jacket potato/burger /pizza. "We come to the Gatehouse before Christmas for our 2 companies Christmas get together and what a wonderful night we had! we was a little late due to work and they gave our table away (completely acceptable we was at fault for still being at work) we said we just sit in bar and just have a few drinks and would eat anywhere we was not fussy as we was at fault but one of the Bar Staff Chelsea who was so friendly lovely went above and beyond to find us a table when one was free. Her Customer Service and bar skills was above and beyond and she’s certainly a asset to your team! Our Food we had burgers and Steak the Steak was just cooked to perfection was just beautiful and was so impressed compliments to the chef i believe her name maybe Shan we had a great start to our night and everything was just fabulous Thanks to your amazing members of staff"

"I have been to many a Wethetspoon, and this ticks all the usual boxes. However, the staff seem to lack manners. The lay out of the pub means it's like the A1(M) southbound motorway, with no chance of changing lane. So when there is incoming traffic, you kind hold have to budge in-between two tables to let them pass, and when that is unthankful staff.... I cannot therefore see my way to give it five stars."

"My wife, dog, and I were dining outside at a spacious seating area when we enjoyed a very affordable pint and whisky and coke. However, we were informed by a young staff member that dogs were not allowed on the premises, claiming there was a sign on the door or on the website. When we checked the door, we found no such sign. We spoke to the manager, who arrived with the staff member in question. After asking to see the sign, the manager seemed to defer the decision to the staff member and left. There was no mention of dogs not being allowed on the website. We are unsure if the pub owns the pavement outside, but we recommend taking your dog elsewhere to avoid any confrontations."

"Great new craft beer bar from the team behind The Old Fountain. Interesting tap selection, cool vibe, friendly staff. What more could I want? They aren't serving food at the moment, but you can order delivery to enjoy with your beer. A couple vegan burgers via Deliveroo went down very well on Saturday with a few pints of Verdant Lightbulb excellent way to spend an afternoon."

"Although the food in the past has been pleasant from here a few reasons why I have now changed my mind about visiting this restaurant would not recommend or revisit. A very wet takeaway was delivered from Wimpy via Uber when calling the restaurant the...manager said if you don't like it come collect your self! (I'm not sure how you've got any customers left with this attitude) I then visited after shopping in town I was going to sit and eat but I was told if I was eating in I was to remove my mask only when seated in a rude tone (seating area not in the restaurant but outside in the plaza?)I decided to order takeaway but was greeted by quite a rude manager who then decided to put my order over the other side of the seating area for me to collect obviously he's been very awkward. My daughter 20 also decided to visit the same week and treat her 12 year old sister to food when seated the same manager said do not run around! (they was just chatting seated at the time, I think a bit of power has gone to this guy's head Take note..... Until now, the rules on face coverings in restaurants, bars and takeaways have been confusing (obviously for George from wimpy Southend) People won't have to wear a mask in restaurants or bars, because it is impractical to do so while eating or drinking (not that we will be returning to wimpy Southend Mr rude manager)"

"Absolute disaster. Arrived at Ordered food at kids starters came at Then no mains until which were barely warm. Kids and adults were climbing the walls. Had to ask for desserts as they were giving us our mains otherwise God knows what time we'd get out of there. No cutlery. Had to keep asking for it. Plates not cleared when desserts came. Had to eat around them. Tables with plates and glasses on everywhere. One table was like that when we came and still wasn't cleared when we left at No soap/hand gel/toilet roll in ladies. Female manager declared quite proudly to her colleagues that she was still drunk from the night before. Complained to manager who offered To take the desserts off the bill but these were already included in the meal deals and wouldn't have affected the price. Got off in the end. Have to say the young waitresses were lovely and we really felt sorry for them but I feel they just didn't get the support or training they need. Told them to get jobs elsewhere. Absolute shambles."

"Went here during lockdown when only takeaway was permitted by law. I had a lemon meringue in the square outside with a decaf americano. It was aaaaaamazing! Hubby enjoyed his peanut butter and chocolate cookie sandwich and green tea. I took similar offering along with a couple of mince and onion pies to my parents who demolished them apparently . I got a couple of takeaway pies for ourselves. My mince and onion pie put me into pie heaven. My husband 's curry pie was good too. I 'm so pleased this whole place is 100% plant based. So none of those awkward discussions about what is vegan. So lovely that it supports people with learning challenges. Will definitely return. Dog friendly too. A lovely square just outside with benches to eat takeaway fare in. There will be seating indoors when permitted. Great place incorporating the little bearded baker. They are hoping to expand their opening hours in due course and also seem to have a menu for hot food. Update: Visited again. Indoor dining open. Plenty of space. Clean. Good loos. Friendly capable staff with excellent supervision to ensure everything is perfect. Huge menu. I had a Christmas type sandwich sourdough, stuffing, cranberry sauce etc, delish. Husband had a beyond burger. We shared a lotus swirl which was very sweet and fudgy and a salted caramel brownie heated with 'cream '. Everything was very filling and tasty. Quite a popular spot. Hopefully introducing plant based eating to people who might not otherwise wander into a vegan cafe. Very positive vibe from customers and staff alike. Wonderful spot. Can 't wait to visit again.
