"Waited over half an hour for food and drinks to arrive (approx 20 other customers so not at all busy and other customers complaining about very slow service). Cup of tea arrived, dirty cup (see photos), no milk or teaspoon. Food arrived, decent fries but bread stale (see photos). Had to request serviettes. Cutlery on table dirty. Asked 3 times about Meerkat deal as was a Wednesday, told manager would check on placing order. Poor lone waiter having to deal with customer concerns about service, Manager Josh was nowhere in sight and did not answer when waiter tried to contact him. Would NOT recommend"

"Although the waiter was very good , we were not impressed with the time there . We were using a virgin experience a three course meal and drink. I gave the voucher to the waiter as soon as he seated us, but the manager I believe was very sharp with me over using the voucher and the fact that he couldn't find it, and that I hadn't booked it correctly, well they had our booking so if something went wrong it wasn't what we had done. The waiter asked what we wanted to drink whilst the manager tried to sort out what menu we should have, we were given our drinks a lemonade and lime and a glass of wine. We eventually were given a menu and ordered our food which was all fine we ordered some bread as an extra. When we come to ask for the bill for which we should only have had to pay for the wine, lemonade and bread which came to £9.65 in total but were presented with a bill for £18.53 and was told this was the balance owing . After being made to feel the way we did I wasn't in the mood to argue , this should not happen I accept we needed to pay for our extra drinks etc but the voucher should have covered our meal, we weren't given the normal menu it was a set one so maybe someone could tell me why we had to pay the extra. I would not recommend to anyone"

"The Cafe rouge in Dulwich village is very convenient for lunch after visiting the picture gallery, and very good value if you have a gourmet card, but I thought the mussels were a little dry (reheated? . Rose wine was nice."

"We visited the Wimbledon branch in May to celebrate my daughters birthday; it was a weekday and not very busy. Although we requested a cake they advised they could not organise anything so we brought our own. We were not welcomed at all from the moment we arrived and the waitress made us feel we were not wanted and rushed through the whole dinner; however despite the bad service, the food was good and it did not spoil the evening. Thinking it was an off night for the waitress, we went there again on Saturday. Unfortunately we had the same waitress again and much the same service I think she has her favourites as other people were not getting the same treatment! Food is good but best to go to another branch for service!!"

"Having booked before departing to Windsor, we arrived saying hello to the barman, To be replied to by a lady behind him. we 're closed There were people eating! We showed our booking email to which she shouted to another waitress these lot want afternoon brunch. (There were 3 of us ladies). To which I thought no we can 't eat here they were so angry it was like wed trailed shi* through the restaurant. The barman said no its fine but tbh the way we were spoken to was disgraceful, We ended up in Bills who said they 'd had disgruntled customers from there before. Shame really as we were looking for to it."

While there may be better boeuf bourguignon in higher-end restaurants, the price and ambiance at Café Rouge on Low Petergate cannot be beaten. Despite being part of a chain, this location has a unique charm that is easy to forget. Additionally, there is a charming and cozy dining room in the back. "Catching up on an a review of an early morning breakfast in Edinburgh, back in August of this year. As just mentioned, this was an early morning stop before taking on a long day of seeing the sites and touring Edinburgh Castle(which was incredibly amazing!! . Cafe Rouge is a nice touch of Frances in the downtown area of Edinburgh. The ambience is bright and quite cheerful. I enjoyed a traditional breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, tomato, mushrooms and a side oh baked beans perfect! The coffee is amazing fresh and served piping hot the way it should be. The service was very good, didn't notice our server much, but she had everything covered well done. Great way to start a busy day. Definitely a must do if you are in the area!"
