"We visited on Saturday 10/09/2016 whilst looking round the National Gallery. The restaurant was busy but by no means full so, as we were shown to our table, we told the waitress that we wanted drinks only and she confirmed that was not a problem. The waiter eventually came over to take our order which was nice and simple, 1 tea and 1 coffee. We waited for 45 minutes and nothing turned up other than a small jug of milk but people that came in after us were all being served so we left in disgust. If they don't want customers who are not spending a fortune then they shouldn't tell us it was fine to order drinks only. Its a shame because the setting was very nice and relaxing."

"The all-day dining concept of GBR (Great Brisitsh Restaurant) in St. James is all about seasonally inspired dishes. The preparation brings out the flavours of each ingredient and the plates are beautifully presented. Dishes we tried included Duck Liver parfait with Yorkshire Pudding; Norfolk Crab with Rye Bread and Crab Mayonnaise. For mains the Isle of Gigha Halibut was an excellent dish in a Clam Chowder with foraged Sea Herbs. Desserts were dark chocolate mousse and Lemon Curd Parfait. Service is friendly and knowledgeable offering advice on the sourcing of the ingredients to wines that complement the food. Hidden gem in the St. James area (Inside the Dukes Hotel)"

"Avoid this place at all costs. Their food is overpriced, the staff are rude and the portions are terrible. We ordered a waffle and a cookie dough via Just Eat. We then received a phone call to say they didn 't have ingredients for the waffle so we had to choose another that was equal or lower value. The waffle we chose was one of the higher price ones, and the only others we could pick were all lower value, so they basically overcharged us. Now if you don 't have the ingredients, either remove the item from the menu or don 't accept the order in the first place! The woman we spoke to was extremely rude and short with us when it was there fault the issue occurred. We went with a cheaper waffle as we had little other choice. Next came the VERY long wait for it to arrive, only to find we were missing ice cream. The waffle 's description said it was 'topped with strawberries ', it was topped with HALF A STRAWBERRY! Absolutely pathetic. £8 for a waffle and they could even throw in a few strawberries. I called up and was greeted with the same rude woman from before who wasn 't helpful in the slightest and was told to email their manager instead. I decided not to bother and I 'm assuming they would be just as rude and helpful as their staff. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE! There are 100 better places to buy deserts in Cardiff."

"Been many times before but last night left us wanting more. Green bean salad made with completely raw beans not blanched couldn’t cut them. Aubergine with tahini good. Brought sea bass by mistake instead of cod glad they did as cod completely tasteless. Six bits of pork belly on a lettuce leaf!! Nothing like as good as before. Desserts something else or would have given two rating. Please ring back the quality food!"

"For the longest time, I viewed bagels as unsweetened donuts that didn't quite make sense with pastrami and cream cheese. Then I visited the Bagel Factory and voila! They were not donuts at all, but rather the ideal breakfast I had been craving for a while. The great thing about bagels is that they can be enjoyed anywhere. "After reading about this in the Australian Financial Review and talking to my colleague who came here during her holidays in London, I made a note to visit this place when we visit London. After a power yoga session, we took uber to get here for an early lunch. We were greeted by a feast of beautifully plated salads and cakes. However, there was hardly any dining space except for a communal table. That did not dampen our enthusiasm. It was expensive for salads but this is London!"

No cleaning of tables in between customers. "a couple days ago, the barista (a man in his late thirties/early forties) asked each of us in the queue our coffee orders quite abruptly. I told him what I wanted and he carried on making coffees and then take the payments when the coffee was ready to serve. It was really getting late and apologiaing, I asked him if he was actually making my coffee. He said obviously not, I will make it soon in quite an impolite way. I apologised again and told him that I had to leave and if he could cancel my order which of course hadn't even been paid for yet. I didn't get an answer, he looked at me like he couldn't care less, shrugged his shoulder and turned the other way like I was not worth his time anyway. Appalling service from that particular member of the staff"

They had a delicious selection of ice cream and cheesecake, with a variety of options to choose from. The prices were reasonable. "Excellent value cafe, just note that it's cash only (I don't know if this is temporary or permanent). They will pop your order through first and allow you to go and get cash, easiest is across the road at tesco. Went with a friend, she had a full builders breakfast for only £5 as it was ordered before 10.30am. I had brioche french toast with strawberries and banana. I asked if I could have some scrambled eggs on the side, no issue. The food was gorgeous, soft and really thick bread full of flavour, topped with icing sugar. Also had a chocolate orange milkshake which was really strong as well and lovely. Lovely staff in the cafe, great service and very chatty. Happy to help. Seems to be a little hidden gem of a cafe, we'd not visited before. We were actually due to attend a different cafe for breakfast but arrived to find it closed so went here instead which seemed to be a major upgrade anyway we were well pleased with our visit. Loads of variety on the menu, can't wait to go back."
