"the bottlecrue is a fantastic place in a picturesque environment, conveniently 2 minutes walk from the St paul Metro Station. the bar is divided into several rooms so that the capacity for an immersive and cosmopolitan nightlife experience, with a separate breakout space for rent and private parties at conferences and workshops available, I also think. they make an excellent menu, plus a special vegan / vegetarian menu if required. the staff is very friendly, helpful and welcoming. they went out of their way to ensure that our event ran as smoothly as possible and completely accepted our needs, even our own private waiter in the night organized. could not recommend this place enough!"

"I dined here with a friend, just as a catch up dinner. The food was lovely but the service really let it down. We were not given the menu as described on the offer so just ordered off the main menu and then questioned the 2 course deal after with the manager as she was walking past. She made a comment that the waiters basically keep forgetting to put the 2 or 3 course deal menu's out, which to me highlighted the bad service we got! She was very kind and offered to either take the starters off or a glass of champagne for free. I am really glad we opted for the starters being taken off as we went into the bathrooms as we were leaving and discovered that we should have gotten the glass of champagne anyway as it was part of an offer they had for their birthday! I would go back but will be wary next time."

"The restaurant was a lovely setting, especially on a cold snowy night, with open fires providing a warm and inviting atmosphere. We were particularly drawn to this venue because of its vegan menu, which offers properly nutritious meals, rather than just meat or vegetarian options with the meat/dairy/eggs removed. Overall, we were satisfied with our meals, although disappointed that the advertised vegan dessert (pineapple and peach ravioli) was unavailable. The only alternative dessert offered was vegan ice cream or sorbet, which was not ideal on a snowy winter evening. One minor complaint was that the open fire in the restaurant had gone out completely, despite it being a quiet night with only a few tables occupied. Overall, a pleasant dining experience with room for improvement."

"The venue is nice in a lovely rural setting. The food is fine however overpriced. There was noting wrong with my steak and I have been four times as it is on my doorstep however after last weeks visit I would say it was average. This is such a shame as it could be so good. Take a visit to the Deers Hut in Liphook and compare the service. The staff can be polite but they are lacking in knowledge all round. Training is needed in areas of food knowledge and how to speak to customers. You cannot call everyone from a baby to an octogenarian Guys . Waiting staff should be able to tell you what you have and answer and questions. It can be okay and convenient if you live in Beacon Hill but they are missing a trick. In a nut shell the service and produce do not match the price tag."

"I’m pleased that this branch of Bel and the Dragon has re-opened after a short break. It’s always a worry in these plague-ridden times of Covid-19 and Boris Johnson as to whether the shutters will ever come up again. We revisited on a Sunday and immediately felt at home in the cosy slightly clubby atmosphere of a suite of small rooms with cartoons by the same artist on most walls. Upstairs are a few rooms forming part of a hotel. As it was Sunday the slightly pared-down menu centred on roasts including the whole chicken with potatoes cooked in goose-fat, sausages, carrots and a quarter of Yorkshire puddings. Quite a steal at £49. Perhaps the pigs in blankets if not the hummus and aubergine dips were unnecessary. We also struggled to finish our additional bowl of creamed cauliflower and cabbage. There’s a particularly good wine list but a pint of Amstel served just as well."

"Davy's wine bars have been a part of the London scene for more than 30 years. They have a deserved reputation for good wine and well-cooked simple fare. We were disappointed, though, in Habit. The decor is typical of Davy's, having the appearance of what I imagine a city coffee house might have been like. There are plenty of oak and barrels about the place. There are bar and restaurant areas with lots of alcoves and semi private rooms. In times gone by, a Davy's would have been jam packed at 8 o'clock on a Friday evening but there were just four people watching TV in the bar area, a group of six dining in one of the rooms and my wife and me. It is true the Rio Olympics on TV were a counter attraction but ... The menu is basic and brief. We chose crab toast to start. This comprised two slices of barely toasted bread spread with marie rose sauce and piled high with crab meat. The whole thing was topped with a fennel, avocado and chilli concoction which in colour was grey to the point of looking unappetising, and whilst it did not taste unpleasant, the fennel masked the avocado. Our main course was fish and thrice cooked chips. The fish was fine, although the batter could have been crispier and the portion larger. Cooking chips three times is something of a foodie fad that is fast becoming a cliche. The chips were soggy and waxy rather than crispy and fluffy inside. The accompanying mushy peas were well minted and tasty but an unfortunate luminous green in colour. Service was prompt and cheerful seemingly in apology for the lack of ambience. The bill, including a glass of wine each was a reasonable enough £50. I can't help feeling, though, there is better to be had elsewhere for not much more money. I hope Davy's can put some quality into the food and some vibrancy into the atmosphere and that in so doing they would attract more customers and create a venue that would capture some of the popularity of Davy's from the 1980s."

"Another beautifully situated Bel Dragon. We were given a large room, decor in the usual Bel Dragon style. It's a little tired and attention to minor but significant points would help guests. Bathroom steams up, as the window doesn't open and it appears the vent isn't extracting, and lightbulbs need replacing as only one works. Points on the water tap fall off, as does the large wardrobe door handle. Bedside lamps are plugged in with the help of an extender behind the bed, we had to move the bed to get to the extender to plug that in for lamps to work. The light in the recess above tea and coffee making only works if all the ceiling lights are on. ...no getting up and making a cuppa with covert lighting there then! Minor points, but important. Food drinks: We ate as a family of 6 adults in the restaurant. Staff were very good, friendly and efficient. Good choice of drinks and served well. It was agreed by all of us the meal was okay. The lamb dish only had 2 small pieces of lamb on it, the crab linguini good size portion, a little too oily and mouth burning hot through out, which suggested microwave involvement in preparation. The side of green beans came too long before the linguini and were just warm enough. Chicken Milanese although tender, the coating was cooked very dark and served without any sauce. The restaurant is popular, lovely buzz around the rooms."
"The menu at Habit was basic and limited, and we opted for the crab toast to start. While the dish was visually unappealing due to its grey color, the taste was not unpleasant although the fennel overpowered the avocado. Our main course of fish and thrice cooked chips was satisfactory, but the chips were soggy and lacked the desired crispiness. The mushy peas, although flavorful, had an unnatural bright green hue. Service at Habit was efficient and friendly, perhaps compensating for the lack of ambience. The total bill, which included a glass of wine each, was reasonable at £50. However, I believe there are better dining options available for a similar price. I hope Davy's will improve the quality of their food and enhance the overall atmosphere to attract more customers and regain the popularity they once held in the 1980s."

"Just had the most lovely cider and met the most wonderful, helpful folks. My sister and I had a wonderful walk from Free Folk to Kingsclere exploring Watership Down and the wonderful staff at the bar saved us some walking and helped us find a ride back! Delightful place with amazing people! Hotel highlights: Great view, Quiet"

"This restaurant has deteriorated significantly since the new owners took over. The serving staff is lazy and clumsy, resulting in slow service. Requesting more bread took 15 minutes, causing the cooked Brie to turn hard. The shared steak was lukewarm and the triple cooked potatoes were hard. Despite being a longtime patron, I will not be returning after my recent disappointing experiences."

"We decided to change locations simply because they serve the best sandwich in town. My go-to choice is a toasted thin granary bread with ham and their delicious homemade coleslaw, all served by one of their attractive servers. They also offer Sandwich Platters for parties, and I've heard they even provide entertainment with dancers."

"I came to the breakfast yesterday and it was perhaps the best decision I made during my trip to Edinburgh. the owner (jonathan) was very nice and warm and welcomed me to the restaurant and gave me the drain on the Scottish breakfast. I had a little fear to try the haggis and black pudding, but everything was delicious! jonathan said they had the best heggis in the city and he didn't lie. the meal was warm and tasty and the perfect fuel for a long and cold day of remembrance, and more than that it gave me a taste of the Scottish hospitality! You have to come here at least once, but hopefully more, in your life!"

"I had a birthday lunch at this restaurant today for my daughter and it was excellent. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome. I had eaten at York Cote before so I knew it was going to be good, but this experience exceeded my expectations. The food was excellent and the staff, Cassandra and Vicky, were very friendly and professional. They wished my daughter a happy birthday and instead of bringing a candle, they surprised us by giving her meal for free! We were both astonished and so pleased, it was truly a birthday to remember. Thank you to all the staff and the chef, you were outstanding. Well done!"

"Went for lunch and were the first to be seated. Around 10 minutes later other diners came, communicating in their first language with staff. We were sat waiting to order, no one came back. A young man came to ask if we wanted drinks, we said no and wanted to order food. He just left and didn't take our order as it wasn't his job. Sat there watching staff standing at the juice bar. Then the two diners who arrived after 10 minutes after is were served their food. All still while our order wasn't taken. We were contemplating leaving. A lady sent food back and new food was prepared before our order was even taken. The second time I've been to paste and I felt discriminated against on this occasion. People of the same nationality were served first. One diner finished their meal and we hadn't even had our order. I won't be going back. Shame the foods nice. Cheeky they included a tip on the bill, when we had extremely poor and bad service."

"So, recently, possibly the worst thing ever happened. When you hear what it is you'll know how sheltered my life has been. Also just how dramatic I can be. I developed an intolerance to latex fruits...NOOOOOOOOOOO! Ok, so it's not that bad but unfortunately avocados fall into this category. This is why, last Tuesday, in the kitschy surroundings I see in most Edinburgh sushi places, I could be found picking every last piece of avocado out of my meal with chopsticks. It was in everything except my noodles. I started with a green tea and the salad and prawn spring rolls, they were delicious, really fresh and cold in a rice paper round. Difficult to eat though! My first one burst out over the table! Luckily this warned me there was avocado in it so I was thankful I'd made such a fool of myself. For mains I had the breaded pork noodles. Honestly, I wasn't sure if it was pork or chicken which worried me slightly. But the noodles were fantastic and the broth delicious. Lucky for me, one of our party couldn't finish her tuna maki and prawn sushi rolls SCORE! I laid into them, looking like an absolute pig in the process. And then dessert, because there's always room for dessert, black sesame ice cream. Amazing. I'm partial to brown bread ice cream and the texture is very similar but with a subtle sesame taste it was the perfect way to end the meal. The drinks are a bit on the pricey side and there was no coffee. The service here was excellent, though possibly slightly over bearing. It's a small place so they go for quick turnover. The waitresses are always close at hand and keep your glasses full but they also take your plates away immediately and this means the meal is less relaxed and more hastened. As we were interviewing a potential new employee during the meal it wasn't the perfect setting and felt a bit rushed. 5 people, 3 courses, 90 minutes. The toilet is weird, I felt like I was walking up to a pedestal. Overall I enjoyed the meal but wasn't taken by the surroundings."
