"Absolutely loved this place, went for a birthday meal with my husband two daughters and son in law. Lady who served us was brilliant, had a laugh with us but not too intrusive, food was amazing and we are quite fussy! Good value and such a good atmosphere, have already been recommending it to friends, will return."

"Good food, rather small but reasonable portions. Excellent wine list, but most of the more interesting bottles are kept in a display stand at the entrance, good to perform, but in suboptimal (too warm/to light) conditions. That didn't affect the bottle we opened. My real problem is with her business practices. An optional 12.5% service fee has been added to my bill without informing me or requesting my permission. The bill came around her business card with the briefing on the inside. Not yet before I added an optional fee without being asked about it, I paid without any questions. I just learned when I arranged my things at home. I sent the restaurant via email, but I had no answer yet. I am looking forward to addressing this."

"the feeling of Spanish authenticity is everywhere in el pirata and it feels like sitting in Spanish. I visited alone when I was in london and was looking forward to the meal of the moment when I went through the door. the service was excellent, and the waiter helped me build an evening meal that corresponded to my appetit. I started with pan con tomate, and that was as good as I had. I have paired this with padron green pudders from galizien and jamón serrano for the perfect start to the meal. for the main course I decided to have a trio that felt as a compliment. they did it absolutely – the chuletitas de cordero, carrillera and uevos rotos especiales were made for each other! everyone was...read more"

"Boqueria Market on Queenstown Road is the second branch of Boqueria, a Spanish tapas restaurant group. I visited the original Boqueria on Acre Lane in Brixton about 18 months ago and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The food was fresh and wholesome and the service was lovely. So once again I found myself south of the river to discover what Boqueria Market had to offer. Boqueria Market is a really smart looking restaurant. The setting is intimate and the lighting is soft. The restaurant feels relaxed, yet there is a buzzy vibe to it that makes for an engaging dining experience. The menu is similar to the Acre Lane branch and includes a selection of traditional and contemporary tapas as...read more"

"I Loved this place! We arrived a little early for cocktails at the bar i had a Flat white martini something you must try if you like an espresso martini, well this is better! The service was fantastic and attentive. We shared a selection of Tapas as a group of four people to start with and it was amazing we just wanted more however the waiter was very good at helping us order as we had never been before, he suggested we share starters as we were wanting paella also. Good thing we did! The waiter suggested we ordered 1 paella per couple as it is a sharing dish. Wow amazing! They brought out 2 massive hot dishes of paella on a stand beside the table and the waiter served your 1st portion! We ordered one chicken and one sea food paella which was delicious ! we also ordered 1 bottle of wine for the table to go with the paella which was lovely also and i am not the biggest fan of wine but that was perfect to go with what we had to eat. Cannot wait to go back hopefully it will be soon as writing this has made me hungry haha."

"Favourite is not always the same as 'the best regarded ' or the grandest. Favourite for me, covers places that we 've loved, often smaller, perhaps less well known restaurants. They all have excellent cuisine (some have Michelin stars) and can represent superb value for money. Many of these restaurants are highly regarded in Spain but maybe unfairly overlooked by foreign food tourists and don 't appear on the 50 Best Awards. In most cases they 're well underrated but are at the top of our favourite lists.1. Aponiente, El Puerto de Santa Maria near Cádiz.I never tire of championing this revolutionary seafood restaurant. If you google it, there are few English reviews outside of mine. It 's strange as chef Ángel León is a TV star over there. In our opinion it should be regarded as amongst the finest in Spain and the world. A third Michelin star will most definitely help with that should that be forthcoming. It should be at the top of your 'to eat ' list along with the likes of DiverXo and El Celler de Can Roca.. They are moving to larger premises in September so we hope to return again."

"We found the food uninspired and very mediocre. Even without looking at the bill we commented that the tapas we ordered seemed bland and not as good as any other tapas restaurants we have been to in the U.K. or Spain. When we saw the bill it really hit home how it was overpriced for the quality of food. It felt very much like a chain restaurant with ore-prepared food that had just been reheated, and not like somewhere we would spend £90 for two. The service was ok; they were cheerful and smiling and explained everything well, but it took a long time to get the bill and pay."

"This spot has a good location, however the service and food let it down. We were seated upstairs and were forgotten about. A lengthy period went by before we finally managed to catch the eye of a downstairs waiter who came and took our order. Coffee was nice but the food disappointing and read better on the menu than it tasted. We ordered eggs florentine the bed of spinach was shredded do finely it was like grass. The vegan breakfast was also disappointing. The beans were stone cold on one side and hadn’t been reheated properly and unfortunately the smashed avocado tasted like it had vinegar through it rather than lemon. We were asked if we enjoyed our meal but sadly it came across as though the waiting staff genuinely weren’t interested. Overall disappointing."

"One of our favorite restaurants: incredibly authentic Spanish tapas that rival a place I was taken to by locals in Barcelona. They offer a specially curated menu featuring only gluten-free dishes, and there are plenty to choose from, allowing you to enjoy a generous selection of tapas. If you order the trio of dips to start, they also provide oat cakes as an alternative to bread, which I highly recommend!"

"I've found a place in London which takes me right back to my favourite Hispanic city in the world. I've spent countless happy evenings in Madrid on tables which spill out onto pavements, sipping on Sangria and munching on Iberico ham whilst the Spanish sun gently drenches the evening in warmth. There's nothing quite like it; for Spaniards, food is more than just ingrained in culture, it's a way of life. I've tried Brindisa and loved it, but I think Iberica (this one is in Farringdon but there are branches in Marylebone and Canary Wharf) tops it Cavernous and rustic, the decor is very appealing, although on a Sunday lunch time it was practically empty which is somewhat worrying. "Been here many times and always been pleased hence returning many times. This time however we were left for 15-20 minutes without anyone even asking for a drinks order, in fairness once prompted we did get a free drink, but still pretty poor. After we ordered we did wait around 40 minutes for our food, and whilst I appreciate it takes time to prepare and serve, it did seem awfully long especially after the initial 15-20 minutes wait to order in the first place. In short great food at reasonable cost in a nice atmosphere, customer service shocking and needs sorted out before you lose customers."

"We got late Groupon deal (and babysitter)for the good ladies birthday. £34 for a sharing platter 2 including bread, cheese, meats and olives. This was followed by a shared potato gratas and 5 choices from the tapas menu. As is standard some of the items have a supplementary charge. We went for the King prawns in garlic and chilli, chicken and chorizo in a tomato sauce, pan serrano(garlic bread topped with manchego cheese and serrano ham), chicken burger sliders and a breaded cheese with a tomato sauce. The dishes came with a tomato sauce and garlic aioili dip. As you expect with Spanish tapas the good was hearty and tasty. We didn't leave a morsel on the table. This isn't a dog at the portion size (which was more than generous) it is just a testament to how good it was. We finished with chocolate fudge cake that we had to force down which was probably my least favourite course. This could have been down to being stuffed like a pig before the first spoonful so I wouldn't read too much into that. To drink we had a jug of sangria to share. Sweet and fruity. Scoffed the lot. Enough said. We will definitely be back again. Outstanding value. Lovely food. Brilliant service. Wonderful transport links (if like us you like a little tipple with your Friday night meal). You you are literally up the stairs and across the road from the bus and train station. Should be noted that the Groupon deal was for £34 which is a bargain in itself. As it had been a long time since I last used my Groupon I got an extra 50 percent off the deal. I will never spend under 20 pounds for that amount of quality grub again in my life. Been smiling all weekend. 1st time. Definitely not the last."

"Delicious food as always with some excellent daily specials as well as the main menu. My only complaint was that when we ordered a second round of dishes because the first was so yummy there was a misunderstanding with one dish, and then even the replacement was the wrong dish (but we didn’t have the heart to tell them it was wrong again so we ate what we were given instead of what we had ordered)."

"the rabbit was boiled for perfection, melt softened with caramelized baby tweezers and tomatoes. it was also in the regular Spanish that it felt as if it had been negotiated with an axe with various sharp pieces of bone. apparently rustic. the salt meadow was wonderfully picked with black pudding and thin cut chorizo. the fish fleshy with a wonderful taste of the sea gives a gentle saltiness then to finish the sweet meat aromen. simple and elegant. the ham steak in px was cooked similarly well and the sauce from this wonderfully rich wein was impractical and required a part brot to enjoy it sweet. the garnels had a perfect hauch of chili heats,...more"

"TL;DR: Not worthy of the Bib Gourmand designation I was very disappointed with Salt Yard. We ordered five items and had mixed feelings about the food. Having been to a few other Bib Gourmand rated restaurants, I had high expectations going in. Our order was as follows: Courgette Flower, Slow-cooked Loch Duart Salmon, Burrata, Octopus the Pork Belly. Of the five items the Courgette Flower and Burrata were my favorites. Both dishes were quite nice, although I felt that they were a bit heavy with the honey on the Courgette Flower. The salmon was also good. The last two dishes, the octopus and pork belly, were disappointing. The octopus was overdone to the point that part of the tentacle was hard and dry. The octopus also wasn't very tender. As for the pork belly, I knew I was in trouble when I had to ask the server for a steak knife to try and cut through the skin. And I do mean try because the steak knife couldn't even cut all the way through. The pork was also tough. Service was a bit off the mark as well. I didn't appreciate that they charged for water even if you order still. This fact wasn't brought to our attention when the server asked what kind of water we wanted. There is also a 12.5% service charge which wasn't made clear at the onset of the meal. All in all, Salt Yard underwhelmed."

"We were disappointed to find that the chicken dish we wanted was sold out, and we felt like we had to leave earlier than we wanted because they closed at 6 PM, which is earlier than usual. That said, the experience is always pleasant. I do find it a bit pricey, so while I would definitely return, it might not be as frequently due to the value for money."

"Now, I can only say positive things about this place! I and my wife went to our one-year anniversary! and what a tasty bite! I would highly recommend the mahou camp if they are a drinker of the lager! it was like the sky in a pint glass! the service was amazing, the waist / and other workers, where very helpful and seem really care we had a good time! the food was a taste sensation! Apart from that it was not on the miniburgers, but they came last and after the first 4 that we had already eaten, it was a harder act to follow! we will come back and have already spread the word of this amazing place!"

"While I expected a crazy busy motherday rush, the restaurant was surprisingly quiet and while I was busy it was nothing that the staff could not handle. our waiter, while slightly sticky was polite and very friendly. he may have been cute on my mother, it has proved more than anything. during the garlauchbrotstarter proved to be disappointing perhaps as a garlic bread lover my standards are quite high! when it came to the carbonara (with added hair naturally) I was blown away. I almost went into a food cosm to finish it. Maybe it was the best carbonara I ever had! Unfortunately, no discounts were taken due to Mother's Day. this is understandable from business, but if I am a seafarer and my mother works for the nhs, it was disappointing not to use any of these discounts. overall we recommend a visit! reasonably priced and not a meal that would break the bank, which is always helpful if they are on a family dinner!"

"The food here is always excellent, and they don't scrimp on their portion sizes, especially the paella which is very generous! Don't be lulled in to ordering paella for the exact number in your party, as the portion size will be HUGE unless you don't plan to have any tapas starters. We were a party of 2 adults and 2 children (11 13). We had a selection of tapas starters (approx 3 pp) followed by a Paella Mixta for 2 people, and we were stuffed! This was more than sufficient, enough in fact for us to take away a doggy bag, which later fed 2 adults for dinner. The restaurant is consistently packed, especially on Saturday night so reservations are advisable to avoid disappointment or long waits. My only gripe is the service is very slow. We have eaten there on 2 separate Saturday nights and it always feels like they're a little short staffed. At one point in the evening I saw 5 staff behind or at the bar, and only 2 tending to customer tables. To give some context, at this time there were only 2 customers seated at the bar, but a full restaurant. If you're not in any hurry, then slower service isn't going to be an issue, however the absence of staff tending to tables does make getting the waiting staff's attention very tedious, and delivery of things like drinks very slow. My biggest issue with the restaurant is the toilets, in particular the ladies room. On this occasion 2 out of 3 ladies cubicles were unuseable, blocked with paper and other waste matter presumably this is due to poor water pressure and flushing, but whatever the reason, does not make for a pleasurable experience, resulting in a long wait for the 1 working loo."
