"Visited this place on a Saturday night, we were two couples. The food is nice, I cannot say a bad word about it, it would not be fair to the chef(congratulations, the veal was amazing However, the service was lacking, mainly because I found something...in my glass of wine and when I asked a member of the staff she replied that's how the wine is, maybe you don't know about it because you don't drink a lot of red wine To clarify : I have done my fair share of traveling, including years I've spent in Italy and I do enjoy the occasional bottle of red wine, so I was not asking just to be difficult(also, out of all the people at our table, who had ordered the same type of wine, I was the only one with what appeared to be impurities in his glass). To sum it up, the food is nice, but don't expect great customer service."

"Just had a wonderful girls dinner, we arrived at 8 and they where patient until we had nattered a lot and finally ordered. Just left at midnight and no hurry to make us leave. Wonderful service and best of all the food was delicious. Highly recommend"

"The food is very good but I would say overall this restaurant is quite overpriced. The lunch menu seems like a good deal beforehand, but then the drinks are quite expensive £6.60 for a can cider) and a 12.50% is added to the final bill as service charge, which was not disclosed before handling out the bill and I ended up paying without realising. I am not sure why I have to pay 12.50% extra for having the food delivered to the table, when the waiter did not even check if everything was ok afterwards. I would think this is basic service and would not have to pay extra for it. To sum up, even I really enjoy the food and atmosphere, I would not be coming back, it all felt like a rip-off and the service was not great."

"Dreadful meal and poor service. Ordered a starter of 5 scallops, dish arrived with 3 scallops. Ordered Fish and chips, but fish batter was pale and insipid and chips under cooked. Catch of the day main meal was small in size and cost £25, which wasn’t stated on the menu. Offered free desserts, but as we’d waited 90mins for meals declined but only offered 2 free glasses of wine. No mid meal check up. Asked for some bread to soak up the sauce, which arrived 20 mins later to be presented with some rock hard, burnt garlic bread. Have visited twice before and had lovely experiences. Sadly, not this time. Won’t be visiting again or recommending."

"We went to the restaurant for a team dinner on Thursday and found it nearly empty. We also noticed that it was popular for lunch among some people. Despite returning for multiple meals, there weren't many vegetarian options available. The falafels were not as crispy as we had hoped and the vegan ceviche turned out to be a bowl of broccoli. However, the artisan sourdough bread was fantastic and the berries we ordered were delicious. Overall, it was a nice spot for a team dinner, despite some shortcomings with the menu."

"The dishes were tasty and imaginative and at a reasonable price. The service was polite but didn’t really add to our experience. Cafe Catalan is a tapas place which involves numerous dishes being brought to the table. We were sat at an absurdly small table for this and consequently only received two dishes at once. These needed to be finished before the next two were brought. We weren’t given a choice in the order of the dishes, so some of the combinations would not have been my choice. The restaurant is small and did feel quite cramped. We sat near the bar where the lighting was quite harsh. The ambient music was ‘Spanish’ if you imagine yourself at a beach bar in Torremolinos listening to recycled Euro pop. It was too loud and was by far the most annoying aspect of our evening. It made us laugh though, so not all bad. It didn’t really feel like an authentic Spanish experience. It may be right up someone else’s street though. I don’t think we’ll be rushing back."

"Visited on a early Saturday evening and thoroughly enjoyed. Restaurant ambiance is beautiful and you feel like you are in a Tapas restaurant in Barcelona. Food is amazing, we tried different tapas across the menu and all delicious. Service is first class. Not the cheapest but you are in Harrogate in a quality restaurant and you get what you pay for."

"We arrived at twelveish,it was very quiet but such a great ambience. It was a sunny day so we sat outside under the cherry tree. Then inside for our meals, by which time the place was filling up and was a really happy atmosphere. Young Jake behind the bar did a sterling job keeping bar and food orders going and the food is great also. Brilliant place and we will certainly be back That's a promise Jake not a threat!!!"

"The ambience was good and the service was excellent. I'd intended to have one sangria then move onto the wine but it was so good I ended up carrying on with them! My sister had tapas which looked much better than my steak the meat just didn't seem to be great quality unfortunately. Had dessert which was a dry cake, I think the server knew I was going to be disappointed with it as she suggested I get ice cream to go with it, which was a great shout as the ice cream was very good. All in all, if you want tapas, try the place over the road the drinks, ice cream and service wasn't enough to save it."
