"If you love spain, its food, tradition and its people then Jerez (sherry) is somewhere you have to experience. There is barely a British person in sight, and most of the locals don't speak English, so it really is a cultural change which leaves you struggling at first, but coming back with another tongue by the end of it all. Foie gras is common place, and so is the famous Spanish ham, Pata Negra all at extremely low prices. When i heard of Drakes Tabanco opening up in the Fitzrovia area, i couldn’t have been more excited They really have transported a little slice of Jerez, back here to London. Walking inside feels as though i’ve been transported. A traditional Jerez taverna with...read more"

It can be slightly tricky to find Drakes Tabanco. It’s hardly out of the way, but the cursive font of its small signage camouflages it quite effectively.

drakes tabanco is a charming little sherry tapas joint, named after sir francis drake, who randomly launched the British sherry industry after having returned from his razzia to cadiz with 3000 butts sherry bandage

Best plate of the night goes to the pig cheeks with hazelnuts and mash 15). Such a lovely combo. We also had the beef short rib with parsnip mash 14). We sampled a variety of sherries throughout the evening. Nice little place.

The spicy shrimp dish at Knock and Chili Puzzles was a tasty way to come back to reality from our busy day. The grilled shrimp were generously coated in oil, garlic, and a flavorful chili sauce. However, the presentation was lacking, as we were not provided with a plate for the shells and there was no water available to clean our fingers afterwards. View menu

in the tasting menu was a coffee included, so we both ordered espressos to wake us from our fuzzy heads from the strong sherry. we loved the fact that the personal really interested if we like to eat it, it was personal for them. They took care of talking to us through every poll and have really heard our feedback. this place is trendy without saying it. it is small, led by a small team that are incredibly friendly. as result gives sex drugs and bacon rolls this place:

Drake's Tabanco is leading a new trend by promoting the appreciation of sherry. While many Brits may typically associate sherry with older generations or holiday desserts, the Spanish view it as a classic accompaniment to their cuisine. I started with a glass of fino, which was described to me as light and similar to a dry white wine. Despite the nostalgic scent reminding me of Sunday dinners with my Grandma, I was pleasantly surprised by the taste and now believe that sherry deserves a better reputation.

We went to the restaurant for a team dinner on Thursday and found it nearly empty. We also noticed that it was popular for lunch among some people. Despite returning for multiple meals, there weren't many vegetarian options available. The falafels were not as crispy as we had hoped and the vegan ceviche turned out to be a bowl of broccoli. However, the artisan sourdough bread was fantastic and the berries we ordered were delicious. Overall, it was a nice spot for a team dinner, despite some shortcomings with the menu. View menu

I'll quickly mention a pleasant meal in Fitzrovia, even though I wasn't really on blogger duty (friend's birthday meal, no camera at the ready). Drakes Tabanco is a charming little sherry tapas joint, named after Sir Francis Drake, who accidentally kick-started Britain’s sherry industry after returning from his raid on Cadiz with 3000 butts of sherry contraband Shamelessly lifting more directly from their excellent website Unfortunately the Brits were never fully exposed to the real stuff, hidden away for years in the great cellars of Jerez. Think dry, long-aged and full-bodied, like many fine wines, served chilled in a wine glass. The real gems are carefully nurtured over...read more

Drakes Tabanco serves a menu of various Tapas plates, Charcuterie and Boards. It is also inspired by the Sherry Taverns of Jerez, serving straight from the barrel for a better taste, which makes this different to the other Tapas eateries popping up around London. The place looks and feels very Spanish, with wooden barrels around the place and legs of cured meat hanging around, waiting to be scoffed With an extensive menu to choose from, Drakes will have you and your mouth wanting to come back for more. Serving plates with some good and strong flavours, if you do not have an appreciative pallet, then you need to man up and get one. My favourites here were the Salmon Gravadlax with...read more
