"I've eaten here before today and I knew from this experience that the portion of food on the all day breakfast is vast. I'm not sure why there is not the option of a small breakfast when there is a regular and a large. The regular has two of each item and I understand that the large breakfast is three of each item. Would a small breakfast of one of each item not be an option? I'm raising this as today I saw huge amounts of food being left on peoples plates and being dumped. While the owners don't seem to mind this because the customer has paid for the food, surely now we are much more aware of waste and the environment would the small option not be viable for the customer? I also observed the issue of not having a machine for card payments and only taking cash. There are two small signs informing the customer of this. One is stuck to the far right of the ice cream counter and directly behind a seat in which a customer was sitting, obscuring visibility and the other very small sign is on the right of the entrance door. Today an overseas visitor to our city ordered a varied and profitable amount of food and drink at the counter. His companions were sitting outside. Once his order was placed he attempted to pay with his card and was then told that it was cash only. The gentleman went back to his companions outside and I could tell by the confused looks on everyone's face that this was not something they wanted to do. The gentleman then came back to the counter and cancelled the order. Why are the staff not informing customers when they are presented with the menu of this very odd and outdated practice before the customer orders their food. So many customers had to go and find a bank to get cash clearly unaware of this practice until attempting to pay their bill. The food tastes lovely and we had a really nice girl serve us but signage must be larger and more visible re cash only."

"what a sound! To see in this place chopped to see whether it is necessary to book a meal in the evening. we were greeted by a charming young woman who was polite, friendly and helpful. we were informed that a booking was advisable, although she didn't think it was busy. the place was spotlessly clean with a casual but intelligent atmosphere.Having exhausted our own arrival we arrived 4 hours early. again another pleasant greeting, this time from an equally charming man, who could not have been more helpful. I am pretty wary of amide afternoon places for a meal, because it is more quiet often the chef on a divided layer and someone else is "fills-in". not so here. the two menus “tasty-choice” and blackboard specialties were well explained and the order was taken over. the starter of fried brie, served with summer boobs was nicely cooked, not greasy and tasty. As demanded our sampi and a medium/brown filet steak came delicious in its taste simpleness. my man, well traveled and fed thought that steak was one of the most unforgettable he had ever eaten. both dishes were accompanied by particularly beautiful riders handmade on the grounds.Throughout, we were checked for without bing pestered to ensure that we were happy. boil and service were the “climbing menu” in the four-star hotel where we lived, far superior.High efficiency recommended for the quality of live products. A real gem! "

"We (family of four with a teen pre-teen are staying in Childswickham just outside Broadway for a weeks holiday so thought we’d try the Childswickham Inn Brasserie as we could walk there through the pretty village, it has great reviews and it’s dog friendly. We booked for a Friday evening and were given our choice of tables in the very pretty garden area. Everything about the place is wonderful. The pub itself is a lovely country style inn with a very warm welcoming atmosphere. The outdoor area is beautiful with a lit pergola under canvas canopies and very comfortable chairs and roomy tables. The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful and made a fuss of our two Labradors. The food was superb. Honestly some of the best traditional-but-next-level pub fare we’ve ever had. I had the pie of the day which was lamb, husband had Cumberland sausages and the kids had burgers. All completely homemade, served quickly, fresh piping hot and with generous portions. Husband suffered from extreme pie envy when he tasted my dish! We couldn’t resist the puds so opted for sticky toffee puddings and chocolate brownie. Again, all homemade, generously portioned and utterly delicious. The food was so good we decided to spend our final meal here and opted for Sunday lunch. We all had sirloin of beef which were served with the best (and biggest! Yorkshire puddings we’ve ever had. We’re from Yorkshire and we know a perfect Yorkie when we see (and taste one and these deserve the highest praise. The beef was perfectly cooked, thickly cut and it melted in the mouth. It was served with a generous portion of roast potatoes, cheesy leeks (a personal favourite! , a selection of perfectly cooked veg lovely rich gravy. Desserts were equally fabulous. Genuinely up there with the best food we’ve ever eaten and exceptionally good value. I just wish it was closer to home as we’d be returning constantly! I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Perfect food, wonderful service, lovely ambience and surroundings and great value, more than deserving of five stars. Thank you for two wonderful visits, you were a highlight of our holiday!"

"I have been going to The Derby Arms for years on and off since I was,18. The last time I sat in the room primarily used for diners I was with my family so it was a little emotional for me. The decor has changed but not the bricks and mortar. I don 't consider myself to be 'local ' anymore hence I could detect that the busy bar had a local edge to it. Not unfriendly, but the feeling that everyone knows everyone else. This is not necessarily a bad thing and everyone is kind and thoughtful which reflects the community itself. Over the years the food in the pub has gone from mediocre to outstanding depending on the chef in the kitchen. I know my mother would comment critically sometimes. However, I am delighted to report the that on this visit the service was brilliant and the food really superb. Front of house was really kind getting me a table as the resteraunt was heavily booked...and I can see why. Evening food is served from 5pm onwards and lunch is also available. The dining area is spotless and really comfortable with attentive staff who will bring drinks to your table. It 's a very homely atmosphere. I wasn 't visiting for a special occasion, I just popped in on my own but I was made to feel special. The food was just great, my 8oz sirloin spot on in terms of taste and how it was cooked. Really lovely. Now this is not a fair comparison, but stay with me. I had the misfortune to be reminded during to a chicken based fast food resteraunt in St. Helens how incredibly expensive it can be to 'eat out ' and having to endure terrible food served with an air of disdane in an atmosphere of artificial, disposable detachment. Given the above experience, when I got the final bill from the Derby Arms which included two delightful drinks and two outstanding courses, wonderful atmosphere, caring service and other customers who said hello...only a real fool would even consider visiting the former place to eat. I guess, I am using this comparison to say, that at a time when we are having to make cuts and difficult choices, there are still places you can really enjoy, that serve peerless food and offer great value for money. I am delighted The Derby Arms still has its sparkle, its class and its soul. Thank you for bringing back happy memories and making a new one. Best wishes, Paul."
