"I believe they needed more staff on the Saturday we visited, as the service was quite slow, especially when it came to drinks. We also had to send a meal back because it wasn't hot. They didn't even acknowledge that it was a birthday celebration. We won't be returning."

"When we arrived at the restaurant, we were informed that we needed to pre-order the Mother's Day menu, which had not been mentioned when we made the reservation. It would have been helpful if someone had called ahead to let us know, as we all wanted to try the set roast Mother's Day menu. When we tried to order drinks, the bartender seemed flustered and annoyed, and did not allow us to open a tab. The restaurant had the football game on, which is understandable since it is a sports bar, but it was so loud that we couldn't hear each other speak. This was particularly frustrating as there were families with children present. We asked for the volume to be turned down, and although they did adjust it, it was still very loud. Additionally, they gave us a table for six instead of the seven we had booked for, plus a buggy, without any prior consideration. The only positive aspect of our experience was that the restaurant was clean."

"I had a bad experience using this app to book a table at this restaurant. I made a reservation for January 18, 2020, but when I arrived, my name was not on the list. The staff tried to help, but there seemed to be a glitch with the app that prevented my booking from going through. I received a confirmation email for my reservation, but it still did not work. I would advise others to be cautious when booking this restaurant through this app until they address this issue."

"Then, a man named Dan approached us and rudely placed a 'reserved' sign on our table, saying, "We need this table at 4 PM." When I pointed out we had about 50 minutes left, he responded in a rather condescending manner. I assured him that if we had our food by then, it wouldn't be a problem since we planned to eat and leave, not stay for drinks. Meanwhile, I noticed that a similarly sized table next to us was reserved for 3:30 PM and decorated with Pride accessories. At 3:45 PM, a female waitress approached our table and insisted that we needed to leave. I explained that we had ordered food that hadn’t arrived yet and were still enjoying our drinks. Dan returned, still with an unpleasant attitude, and reiterated that they needed our table due to a booking. I informed him that we were not leaving because we were still waiting for our food. He continued to be rude, asking me what he was supposed to do about the booking. I pointed out that we had already ordered food and that it wasn't our fault if they hadn’t managed their reservations properly; you can’t just slap a reserved sign on a table and expect us to leave. He then told me, "I'll refund your food order," which was completely unacceptable. The entire exchange was uncomfortable, with my daughter witnessing the rude behavior and false statements from Dan, such as him claiming that "upstairs is for bookings only," which was simply not true. I suggested that they could seat the reservation at the table next to us that was still unoccupied, even though it was past the booking time. After walking away, he soon returned to request the reservation card, which I passed to him. He then replaced the reservation card at the next table with our 4 PM booking card. It was that simple. This whole altercation was unnecessary and really put a damper on what was meant to be a celebratory day for me and my daughter. I genuinely believe that Dan needs additional training on handling reservations and understanding that paying customers have the right to occupy a table until their food has been served. We shouldn't have to endure such a hostile experience."

"I ordered the lasagna, which was a bit messy and clearly heated up in the microwave. It felt overpriced for what we received. Additionally, the music was way too loud, making it difficult for the bartender to hear my husband while he was placing our order for food and drinks."

"When we arrived, the person at the restaurant door told us he wasn’t letting anyone in. We explained that we had a reservation, but he claimed he couldn’t find it and said it was the second time that evening this had happened. I showed him our reservation on OpenTable, but after searching for a bit, he informed us we were at the wrong restaurant and asked us to leave. I double-checked and even asked some locals, and it turned out we were at the correct address, the right restaurant, and the correct date and time. His rudeness was shocking, and because of COVID, we couldn’t find another place to eat. It was incredibly disappointing."

"Single diner first visit. The pom/marg cocktail was good by too short! The carrot/cheese starter was good...taste I really did not expect that..Malbec was good but not value; maybe I'll negotiate BYOB on other than Tuesdays... Perfect attentive service. Menu looks good for further exploration..."

"Absolutely delicious! The food was fantastic, although it's not the cheapest place, so that’s something to consider. The corn dessert was exceptional—I still can't stop thinking about it! The drinks and appetizers were a bit expensive for their portion sizes. However, the main course was delightful, and there were plenty of options to choose from. I really enjoyed the ambiance, though it was quite loud, which might be an issue for those with sensory sensitivities. The staff was great and very friendly!"

"I don't mind paying extra, in fact I would prefer to more for food to ensure the quality is there which I why I was excited to try this place. Upon ordering, very slow service .... the buttermilk chicken burger came and it was cold. Worst than the temperature was the fact it was thigh meat which was grey/pink and tough. I think if you are charging £10 for a chicken burger on its own then you have to use breast and if you are not, then clearly state that. Also if you are serving thigh I would ensure it was hot so it does highlight the cheap meat. Fair play to Mustard as they did take this off the bill as I couldn't eat it but I was just left hungry and disappointed then. Presentation and seasoning is good but service, quality and pre-serving checks need to be improved. From reading all other reviews, I think I could of just ordered the wrong thing and they let some cold food slip out."

"4 people went for a quick bite to eat and all had lovely food! The fish finger with avocado sandwich was delightful, new for me and I will be trying it again! What I will say is about the coffee coffee service. We wait a long time for our drinks and it wasn't exactly busy, then there was nothing special at all to warrant the wait! Nowhere near hot enough, tiny in size and lacking really. I will visit again, for the food, but I wouldn't bother with a coffee of any sort!"

"Visited this place a few day 's ago as I was really looking forward to enjoying a decent hot dog. We had a wrust dog (I think), pizza fries and a drunk squirrel (milk shake). The hot dog, was alright but didn 't provide value for money as it was about £11. The pizza fries were loaded and did taste like a pizza of sorts but didn 't have the wow factor . The only saving grace for me was the shake, it was delicious and you could taste the alcohol flavor, it was thick and great but other than that this place underwhelmed. "I visited on Sunday to go for a bottomless brunch with some friends, on arrival we were seated and given menus and the waitress told us they had some shortages due to a delivery not coming in. However, when saying what they were out of, sausages avocado and waffles, it wiped out a-lot of the dishes on the already limited menu for bottomless brunch. items such as sausages and avocado which when your one of the first customers in the restaurant on a Sunday having pre-booked as-well seems a bit unorganised in my opinion especially as their are 3 supermarkets in walking distance. i wouldn't normally make a fuss about this sort of thing especially working in hospitality myself but i have been to the S&L 3 times now and every time they seem to not have something quite important. i went a few months ago with my boyfriend and they didn't have most of the cocktails offered on the menu which was very disappointing. and when our food came out they didn't have any ketchup or mayonnaise. however, on all occasions visiting the staff have been very friendly and attentive in offering a round of drinks whenever our glasses looked empty and the food we have received has been lovely and been delicious. It just seems as though there is a management issue when it comes to ordering stock."

"A great restaurant serving burgers, ribs etc. We visited with two adults and three kids ranging from 4 to 12 years old. All kids enjoyed the food. The kids menu portion size was perhaps a little too large for our youngest, but was perfect for the older two. The adults had burgers, chips, a side of ribs, all very good. A good selection of drinks. Location was ideal, in the town centre and a short walk from the car park across the river. Staff were friendly and helpful, they even sang happy birthday to our youngest and gave him a brownie with a candle. Value was good, we got a discounts for having visited Legoland that day. We visited on a Sunday evening in the school summer holidays. We'd booked, but it was pretty quiet anyway so could have walked in. I would recommend this restaurant."

"we reserved a table at 19.30 order are drinks, then order are meal times that we disgusted, how long we had to wait, are waiting for 45 minutes. we waited and the people came while we waited and came to eat quickly. we shouldn't have been sitting there. I don't recommend anyone unless they like a long waiting period. it says about this feedback what we should do to improve and my answer is close to getting a new cook."

"I recently visited this restaurant and tried the vegan nachos, which were decent. However, they also offer other delicious options such as a vegan burger (just ask for vegan cheese), vegan curry, mixed salad, and vegan gyoza dumplings! I was a bit let down that there were no vegan desserts available, but hopefully they will add some soon. The restaurant has plenty of seating, including a small outdoor area on the main road, and they also serve fantastic cocktails."

"We had our Christmas get together at the Newport (Isle of Wight) Slug and Lettuce tonight. All I can say is that the team there were incredible in making us feel welcome and special guests . Huge thanks to Kat, Angel and Becca for such fantastic enthusiasm and service. You were all second to none. I would recommend the venue, but more highly recommend the team who made it special. Thank you Kat, Angel, Becca and team"
