"We tried to book a table for lunch on-line, but this wasn 't working. We also left a telephone message for a return call in order to book a table, but there was no return call to our request. However, this didn 't matter as we went early and we were lucky enough to get a table/ booth after waiting for less than 2 mins. The food was excellent and met my expectations. I was offered, as per tradition, a sausage with my steak. The apple crumble for dessert reminded me of my mother 's, so all very good. We did have to share our booth later, but this was explained to us very clearly when we sat down, as it can get busy at lunch times, but this actually made the experience better, as the conversation with our 'table partners ' was all part of a wonderful experience. The Staff were extremely helpful, jolly polite. I would highly recommend this place as it is steeped in history and after we wandered around the small adjoining 'city 'alleyways which just topped it off to make a shear delightful all round experience."
