"We tried to book a table for lunch on-line, but this wasn 't working. We also left a telephone message for a return call in order to book a table, but there was no return call to our request. However, this didn 't matter as we went early and we were lucky enough to get a table/ booth after waiting for less than 2 mins. The food was excellent and met my expectations. I was offered, as per tradition, a sausage with my steak. The apple crumble for dessert reminded me of my mother 's, so all very good. We did have to share our booth later, but this was explained to us very clearly when we sat down, as it can get busy at lunch times, but this actually made the experience better, as the conversation with our 'table partners ' was all part of a wonderful experience. The Staff were extremely helpful, jolly polite. I would highly recommend this place as it is steeped in history and after we wandered around the small adjoining 'city 'alleyways which just topped it off to make a shear delightful all round experience."

Located in London, this charming restaurant has maintained its historic charm since the Georgian era. The unassuming grill features classic English dishes and is also a great spot for a enjoyable breakfast.

I have been a customer of Simpsons for over 50 years and hope to continue to visit this unique establishment that serves delicious food at a reasonable price in a one-of-a-kind atmosphere, with friendly and efficient staff.

The food, as always, was excellent. You will never leave this place feeling hungry. It is a charming spot and a true city institution for a traditional English lunch of meat chops. My only critique is that some of the customers are too loud and should be asked to lower their voices. View menu

One of the most traditional old school British restaurants you can come across. Hearty comforting food with very friendly service. Traditionally a sausage is offered with every order which is greatly recommended. As my server said “life is always more exciting when you say yes to sausage!”

We visited this restaurant again on 17/8, this time with a group of seven. We had a fantastic time, as always. This establishment is truly one of a kind and doesn't disappoint. The food is delicious and reasonably priced, with a good selection of wines. The atmosphere is great and we were taken care of by the friendly Benjamin, who had us laughing with his cheerful banter. We happily accepted the offer for sausage with our meals seven times. We will definitely be returning.

We stopped by this lovely little tavern for a quick lunch on the off chance they had a table. The staff were so professional and helpful and seated us in no time. The food was delicious and arrived quickly, we had the ham, egg and chips all elements of which were perfect. Very traditional menu and done very well. The place is steeped in history having been there since 1757, which really adds to the atmosphere. It’s tucked away down a little alley so the untrained eye may miss it, but I’d urge anyone to give it a go we will certainly be back! Big thank you to the lady running the place, so kind and informative. View menu

This pub is a hidden gem in the City of London. After a walking tour with friends, we found this restaurant to be the perfect spot for lunch. We chose to sit upstairs, where it was bustling with activity on a Friday afternoon. The atmosphere was lovely and lively. The traditional old bench seating added to the charm of the historic building, even though it wasn't the most comfortable. The steak and kidney pie was delicious and generously portioned, as were the cauliflower cheese and bubble and squeak sides. The prices were reasonable and the quality of the food was excellent. Our waiter was friendly and provided good service. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant.

Went there for a Christmas lunch, staff appeared rushed, no attention to detail. Starters were put on the table, no cutlery, had to get our own! Starter of ham hock terrine was tasteless. Having almost finished it, we were then given sliced bread toast to go with it. Main course was average, plenty of food but canteen style and nothing special. When it came to dessert, we didn’t get what we’d ordered, just a mix of whatever was left. It’s not the most expensive but even at £40 a head, at least give us what we ordered. Having eaten there many times, I’m disappointed to see the place slip. I feel it’s just become a money making venue, hoping to cling on to regular customers who always eat ther...
