"It's far too predictable and easy to rag on Starbucks these days, but don't let that kid you into thinking their coffee is anything but sub standard. When Tamp Culture and Workhouse Coffee are within a few minutes' walk, getting a coffee from Starbucks is just silly. Sure, I've had worse coffee, much worse, but rarely from a dedicated coffee shop. I almost think maybe they make their coffee deliberately fairly poor to trick you into thinking that's what coffee always tastes like, that you don't really like it, and that therefore you'll have to buy coffee with six gallons of milk, sugar, syrups, and cream lobbed into it in order to enjoy it and, hey presto, that's what Starbucks are good at. If you genuinely don't really like regular coffee but love a triple whip extra soy hazelnut mocha with double sprinkles and a superfood cleansing boost injection then fine, obviously go to Starbucks. Those coffee based drinks can be quite nice on occasion and, though I think Costa do most of them better, Starbucks is a fine choice. But I, for ages, really thought that this was the only type of coffee for me, because I'd tried Starbucks' more regular coffees and found them utterly revolting, so just believed I didn't really like coffee. This strikes me as a rather cruel and unfair trick to play. It's like a beer specialist producing a really horrible cider to convince people they hate cider and thus only bother with beer. So, I implore you, if you've tried Starbucks' regular coffee and think it's sort of okay, then please, please make the trip to Workhouse and try something ten times better and, if you've tried Starbucks' regular coffee and hated it, before you turn straight back to your word salad order, also walk over to Workhouse and let someone who can really make regular coffee make you something. Maybe you still hate it, and that's cool, pop back to Starbucks and enjoy, but maybe, like me, you'll find you'd been being decieved by Starbucks for years and that actually, regular, unadulterated coffee is one of the greatest things on this planet, just not if you buy it in Starbucks. So Starbucks gets a three stars. It's coffee options are pretty good (though I do think Costa has the edge), but offering people regular coffee of this low quality is either just poor quality roasting, grinding, and brewing through a lack of bothering, or a cynical deliberate ploy to shock people back to the coffee and keep them away from coffee houses that do regular coffee really well. Also their cold brew is terrible. Just absolutely terrible. Cold brew coffee is one the greatest summer beverages going, but Starbucks' offering is just dire. Costa do a really great cold brew yet another reason to go there instead."

"My wife and I had booked a Chinese meal on the 28th September and were looking for somewhere to have some drinks prior to the meal and my wife spotted the Mercat opposite the Chinese which was absolutely perfect for us. We ordered a Cider and a Peroni and the barmaid Stacey told us to find a table and she would bring the drinks over to us. Whilst enjoying our drinks we kept seeing lovely meals being taken to vsrious tables and they all looked exceptional, very well presented and you could clearly see that everyone was really enjoying them and the lovely background music being played. We both agreed that we would return on the followimg evening and try the food as it really looked too good to miss and we were certainly not disappointed. After a couple of drinks each we both decided to go for the fish and chips and we both agreed that it was the nicest fish and chips we had had for years, everything very fresh and so tasty. We enjoyed a lovely bottle of Sauvignon blanc with the meal and my wife chose the cheese platter with olives, girkin and biscuits and I chose the icecream for our sweets, absolutely perfect. Unfortunately the lovely Stacey was not working on the evening but we did have the lovely Scott, they are a super team, so efficient, friendly, courteous and obliging. Since returning home we have never stopped talking about this wonderful evening, we both loved Edinburgh and this restaurant really was the icing on the cake. We are already talking about returning to the City and returning to this beautiful restaurant, what a find! . Well done to you all and thankyou!"

"by esin huseyin the grill market could feel a greasy airflower serving dripping burgers - they will be glad to know that this is not another burger review. the grill market was reopened recently after a month of renovation, so I decided that it was the perfect time to drive to holborn and see what it was about. it led a small debate between me and koray, as though the place a “handful”, eating for us justified more of a restaurant vibe, and they will find out why. well, I really went past this place, quite possibly because I am not normally a holborn girl, but I think mainly because grill market is very used with its shopfront and color palette. large windows on both sides of the building to create a lot of natural light, as well as the use of wood, metal and gray – it created a clean and friendly environment. the open kitchen and seating opportunity, created a warmer environment, and even allows them to be a bit more involved in the food – they can see what is being prepared, and the smells from the kitchen entice them. As I said, it is all quite neutral – but the fun and the color is injected through their food. I want to say that in the hour or so that I was here, this place had a constant flow of people, and even had a squeeze to most of my time there. it may be because I visited during the midday hours, but in any case it was a good sign – there were even calls of people in “Oh, it’s changed here...” concerning me when they can keep regular customers in a city that constantly grows and expands, they my friend, earn a medaille. grill market has a few menus to choose from; breakfast, lunch and salad. I decided of course for the lunch menu and decided to go a little light with a mixed salad and fresh hot halloumi from the grill. before I ordered, my exact words were “I am not much salad man...” – I was wrong, so wrong, that I will eat my hat halloumi. now a little more about the salads, here were the selections I had to choose: tomato, broth, red planks, caps, roasted paprika basilikum. chickpeas, mais, korrian, early on onions harissa dressing. cous cous, quinoa, bulgian weiz, roasted courgette, minze, feta pint nuts. kale, bon, hazelnuts, with an orange ingwer dressing. carrots, white red cabbage, green paprika, vinage I would be here for age groups if I went into detail about each individual salate – but there were some that I loved more than others. the cous cous was my favorite; the note of feta and mint that came through were amazing, and super refreshing. the salat that had actually brot was really incredible – now this brot was actually wet from the dressur used, and wet brot is usually a huge artpas. in the word of the child; it was not a “No no no no no no”, but it was a huge “yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes” moment. if they don't know this reference, I'm old. the contrast between the hot eating from the grill and the cold salad – simply worked. they are not the first to do this, but I feel that the choice of salads they have used was not only original, but honestly, it would be something for everyone. if they are in a little hurry, they can also take it away in a box that is good for the location, as it is mainly office space around holborn. the salads were all freshly made on this day, and they could taste that the salads were still crispy! salate tends to go a bit meh when it sits in his dressing for one because. and the one thing to mention that the salads all change once in a because, so they will never look bored – we are quite trying to get back to a few weeks! this week it was a Persian lamb flat brot. nom. there are many reasons why I enjoyed my visit and would go back; the friendly mood of the place (they were even old j, I know that I said this in another review on the other day, but they come up. , friendly staff (they even knew their ancestors well, good eating, but also the fact that they don't rely on their food alone because it regularly changes. that is for me success, not to mention, if they can make me eat a plate of salad and be full of it, it is worthy of assessment. for our non-food-related reviews and functions or updates to the reviews we have published here on zomato, please visit our website."
