"not to find the simplest place, but an absolute pearl when they do. the inner is very clean, modern in styling and welcoming. from our experience the service was from the beginning attentive, friendly and fast, but without being overwhelming. the quality of the food was delivered in good time excellent, fresh and hot. and especially it was very delicious. the choice of crying is also a plus point. overall a great experience and we will not hesitate to go back. highly recommended. "we visited pepper during a short holiday break between christmas and new year. it was a quiet night to be a Wednesday, although there were a few larger groups celebrated birthdays and, although we had booked online, there were many tables to choose from. the menu contained some dishes that we had not met before. we had small but beautifully cooked and presented seafood stars. for the main course my partner chose the tandoori lammings that were plentiful and excellent. I had a royal dish that was just as delicious. there was a light mix with our order that was taken on a digital device, which led to us getting a few dishes that we had not requested! However, this was quickly sorted out, with excuses and a free supplement. a very nice meal in a beautiful restaurant."

"I have ordered here on and off over last years... In the last months this place has massively gone downhill. The food, well just not the same and actually not nice. The delivery times... shocking. Lastly... I’ve always ordered online and got my...order no problems. The last times I’ve waited nearly hours to then call and be told they don’t know what I’m talking about and received no orders. The young guy who answered phone clearly rude and doesn’t value customers. I get emails from them all the time prompting me to order online .... what’s the point if they don’t even monitor the orders coming through! Another restaurant clearly taken under bad manager/staffing. I’m not a fussy customer or a someone to ever complain, so says a lot that I’ve actually sat and written about my experience. Dont bother save your Money...."

"To my surprise, many restaurants are closed on Sunday evening in London. Every time I looked up a vegan restaurant on Happy Cow, it turned out it was closed. Since it was late and I was hungry, I had no other option than to select a vegetarian restaurant close by. 1947 Restaurant and Bar is both an Indian and Italian restaurant. The entire menu is vegetarian, however only around 20% is vegan. Many more meals can be made vegan, but so many of them had cheese listed as an ingredient that I didn 't want to run the risk. What if there 's an error in communication between the waitress and the kitchen? Or what if the chef accidentally adds cheese out of habit? I had lots of time to make up my mind, because even though the restaurant was very quiet it took a long time until the waitress came to take my order. I selected vegan biryani because I like biryani and because I 've tried it at so many restaurants that it 's easy to compare. It took a long time for the biryani to be prepared, but then it was served beautifully and smelled divine (as it should be). However, compared to other restaurants it 's a rather simple biryani. It has only one kind of rice (it is often served with both white and yellow rice) and only a few vegetables. There was no tofu, mushroom, potato, no nuts or any protein source. Also, the yoghurt was missing (which is used to extinguish the fire caused by the spices). The portion was generous and the taste was good. Although it was mentioned on the menu, 1947 Restaurant and Bar adds a 12.5% service tax. Why don 't restaurants just increase all prices on the menu instead of giving the customers a nasty surprise at the end?"

"This is one of my favourite curry houses in Solihull. Set in a lovely old building, the tables packed in so they can cater for large numbers but also spaced so they can also offer lots of 2’s and 4’s. The staff are really attentive and very efficient in getting your meal delivered in a timely manner. The menu is varied and there’s some really good specials including my favourite the Punjabi Murgh Massala. It’s quite essential to book but it’s easy to do via the website. Both Cobra and Kingfisher beers on tap."

"I am always hopful when trying a new place but this was a let down. The waiter didn't seem to know what was on the menu, or what is job was, and it was a major mission just to place our order. The noisy turbine extractor fan in the dining room sparked to life when smoke from the kitchen filled the room, doors were opened to help manage the smoke, it was not nice. The food was okay, the value was okay with the toptable deal, but without the deal forget it. The washroom experience was unplesant to say the least. Air freshener lined the wall. Chicken was defrosting unattended in a downstairs kitchen sink. Sorry but never again."

"We were a large group, who had booked weeks in advance. The food was good, but the service was incredibly slow. It took an hour to receive our starters after ordering, and another hour and a half after ordering mains (why weren't both orders taken at the same time? to receive our mains. It was a Saturday early evening. Our party arrived at 1730 and left at 2115. Way too long to wait as we had somewhere else to go to afterwards. We felt that the staff were just trying to encourage us to buy more drinks whilst we waited. Nothing wrong with attentive staff, but nearly 4 hours to finish our meal was unacceptable. The restaurant was not very busy, and to see other tables eat and leave before us was frustrating. The food was good, staff polite and friendly, but the experience let down by the slow service. First time Id been there and I will not return or recommend."

"We were in UK last summer and were visiting Edinburgh. I made a mistake and did not do any research of the area for any Indian Restaurants in case of any exigency. The exigency arrived in a way that, my four year would not want to eat anything but Indian food. "We've had home deliveries from this establishment for quite some time now but this was the first order for a while.When I telephoned I asked for the meal for two at £27 to be delivered at 7.00 and gave the chap my address and postcode.As my wife wanted a dish she hadn't had before I asked for more information..he confirmed that both dishes were of medium heat. At 6.20 my intercom buzzed,it was a neighbour..the delivery had an address but no name.I told the guy that I wasn't happy but accepted delivery.When I looked at the food my wife's curry looked like a Korma(it was supposed to be a Special Matta)and was very bland..she refused to eat anymore as she said it was more like sweet custard!. After our meal(we shared my curry which was nothing special but ok) I called to voice my disappointment and the issues I'd had.The chap I spoke to was very apologetic but said they were too busy to do anything at the moment but he was keen get the owner(he was the guy who took the order)to telephone me to apologize and see how they could make amends...my phone has yet to ring. Don't know how this poor food and service has happened but,at the moment,I have no plans to give him my business again."

Ordered honey krona with pilau rice the first time the driver came he gave me the curry but no rice I got chips and cheese instead then when we phoned and told them about the mix up they sent me plain rice. By the time the rice got here my korma was cold."
