"Love the atmosphere of this place. This was our first time and so the idea that you finish cooking your steak to your idea of perfection on a hot stone was awesome! The choice on the menu was wonderful and we all wanted to come back before we are it looked so good. The concept is that the steaks are just sealed in the kitchen and served to you on hot stones. They all come served rare with a salt a butter and a sauce. You take the stakes of the stone immediately so they don't burn, and then you cut a piece put your butter salt and sauce if you want on the stone, then put your piece of steak on the stone to finish cooking it and seasoning it like you want. I like my steak very rare so the way it came out with was perfect and it didn't need my cooking. However because of how quickly they see the steak in the kitchen, it does need seasoning so whether you use the salt straight on your steak or on the stone, you do need to use it. Our waitress was wonderful, and suggested that even though a few of us didn't want butter salt or sauce that we should get it. She was right. She also recommended that one of our party didn't have the sliced steak, even though it is still tasty, it's not a good representation of the restaurant for our first visit. The side orders were pretty good. The fries, sweet potato fries, jacket potato, onion rings and garlic mushrooms were all great. The huge disappointment were the seasonal vegetables. They tasted precut and microwaved, and if they weren't microwaved they were old before they were boiled. You can see in the picture each piece of vegetable was very small and for the price that was a serious disappointment. The waitress was again wonderful with our drinks, with no cocktail menu she went behind the bar and made a long island iced tea herself which was delicious. Even the bill wasn't that bad when it came however, the £1 cover charge each was pretty irksome. Overall the service and the food was great and we will definitely be back to the chain."

"we visited bar soba edinburgh for the first time in a dae. we were really looking forward to the lighter and umbungo cocktails. they did not disappoint and were as good as we remembered. the menu, as it is the case today, was on a qr...code and included food. we are growing increasingly peckish (probably due to cocktails), so we ordered some snacks. when the waiter handed them over, he said very “snappily” if they want to eat, I have to move them down! our point was if you don’t want to eat up, why then make the complete menu available on the qr code?! next one of the party had recently had an operation back and occasionally it had to get up. again another employee came by and said when they got up they need to get their mask up. the party member did not walk around, did not leave the table and just stood exactly where her seat was and explained that they had recently returned an operation and was meant with a "not my problem". nice to point out that the bar was less than a meter away and they could stand at the bar without a mask. Finally, as we came to the end of our booking, we asked if we could extend to the end of our drinks we were told “no” we are really busy! we looked around, we at least counted empty tables. So we went on the road and drove our evening away. when we left our evening we noticed that bar soba was still empty! we appreciate living for the hospitality challenging and we are very happy to support it. we were polite, however, have not caused a problem and spend a lot of money (if any more spent, but due to the arrogance of the employees we took our business elsewhere). our consulting, offer additional employee trainings for understanding and adapting to customer needs in inclusive wise. sad, I think we need to miss in future our nostalgic cocktails."

"Staff were so rude, aggressive, unprofessional, and judgmental when we visited for my birthday dinner on Saturday evening. I arrived first before my partner and was shown to a table upstairs right next to the door. It looked as though I may block the door when sitting down. My partner is almost 7 feet tall and definitely wouldn’t be able to sit comfortably without blocking the door, nor could he sit on the other side of the table as it was pushed up against the neighbouring table. I called a passing waitress and told her about my partner’s height and how I didn’t think we’d be able to sit there. She looked at me angrily and said “we don’t have any other tables”, to which I replied okay, I’m sure it’ll be fine- I just don’t want to block the door. The server then huffed at me and walked back down the stairs to which I could see her talking with another server and pointing to me up the stairs. It felt very uncomfortable, like I was being judged and laughed at. When my partner arrived he attempted to sit down and could only just squeeze into the seat. My partner called another server over, a different one this time, who was just as rude. This time they seem confused as to what it was we wanted/what the problem was, even though my partner was clearly having trouble sitting at/getting into the chair due to his height. The waiter angrily showed us to another table. We then heard the table next to us who had clearly been waiting for a long time if they could order their food. My partner and I decided that we didn’t want to stay and so we left the restaurant. We’ve been regular customers of Bar Soba, but after this experience, we definitely won’t be back. I’ve checked the other reviews and this isn’t the first time something like this has happened. AVOID this restaurant!"
