"I 've been here many times when my boat is moored in the area. I was looking forward to having a quiet lunch in a dog friendly place on a very hot day. The woman who served me I recognised as she had been my server many times before. The thing that struck me is despite saying I 've been here often I 'm always treated like a stranger I think a great to have you back goes a long way. The place was very quiet in terms of customers but it was so noisy ! Not their fault that building work was next door which made sitting outside unbearable , but when I struggled to bring my 3 dogs and food inside there was no offer to help. It was also very noisy inside and there was a big box of rubbish in front of the ladies loo that just seemed to sit there with no purpose, I finally asked if they could move the rubbish so I could use the loo and the woman seemed put out. My dirty plate sat around too long and the staff didn 't ask if I enjoyed my meal or if I wanted anything else. So considering how empty it was I felt my presence was a nuisance. My dogs were well behaved and when I asked for a water bowl I had to share with another dog then when a third dog came along they took my bowl away. I think they need more dog bowls if they really are to be dog friendly . One bowl to be shared amongst the whole restaurant seems cruel. In short I felt like they don 't value their daytime customers and just save their energy for the evening which is always packed therefor I think they shouldn 't bother opening for lunch except at weekends. I wanted to offer some hopefully constructive criticism personally but there was no one to say anything to hence why I am writing my feedback here"

"**Atmosphere:** The restaurant is small but feels cozy without being cramped. On this visit, we were seated at a lovely window table, which made for an inviting and comfortable experience. When it gets busy, the atmosphere is lively, and the music is at just the right volume to enhance the ambiance without turning into a shouting match. Perfect! **Food:** We were there to celebrate my daughter's 30th birthday with a party of five. For starters, we tried the Summer BBQ Picanha steak, scallops, buffalo mozzarella salad, and Iberian Black Pig Char Siu. I sampled a bit of everything, and they were all delicious, with the Summer BBQ steak standing out. For our main courses, we had monkfish, three Picanha steaks, and BBQ Maple chicken—again, everything was delightful, but the monkfish was truly exceptional. Our sides included truffle chips, rooster chips, tempura broccoli, and roasted sweet corn, all complementing the meal perfectly. Desserts featured sticky toffee pudding, burnt Basque cheesecake, grilled pineapple, chocolate with white port, and a cheese selection. I only managed to try the cheese, as everyone was enjoying their desserts too much to share! We enjoyed a few expertly crafted cocktails, the Quickening Shiraz from a thoughtfully curated wine list, and some dessert wines and port to accompany our sweets—all were fantastic. The portion sizes were just right, making three courses manageable. **Service:** This is where the family-run nature of the restaurant truly shines. The service is polite, friendly, attentive, and laid-back. Our visit felt leisurely, and I never felt rushed, even when the restaurant was busy. The staff checked in on us just the right amount to ensure we were enjoying our meals, and I truly appreciated that there was no pressure to order more drinks or any upselling—just a thoroughly enjoyable experience overall. **Additional Insights:** The restaurant is reasonably easy to access, with only a small step at the entrance, and the interior is spotless and well-maintained. The stone walls add to the charming atmosphere, and the rear wall has a unique texture that invites touch—you really have to experience it yourself. The restrooms are immaculate as well. **Disclaimer:** My wife and I have visited Jack O'Bryan's several times since moving to Dunfermline, and while we consider it a special treat, we often find ourselves looking for excuses to indulge a bit more frequently than we probably should. However, this consistency in the quality of food, service, and atmosphere is why we keep returning. **Final Tips:** The menu changes seasonally, so it’s a good idea to check their website to see what’s available. I highly recommend making a reservation, especially for weekends, as it’s essential to secure a table. Keep up the great work, Jack O'Bryan's!"
