"I made a reservation but upon arriving at the restaurant found that didn’t matter as a group arrived, preordered a large menu and anything ordered would be delayed by at least an hour. I tried to be understanding but with a reservation I’d expect they’d allot for those meal tickets in the kitchen. If you cant trust a restaurant to fulfill your expectations w a reservations, what good are they? We ultimately went someplace else."

"This was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. I ordered a medium-rare steak, but it arrived almost completely raw. When I brought this to the manager's attention, he insisted that I was mistaken and that this was how medium-rare was typically served. He eventually agreed to provide me with a new medium-rare steak, but it turned out to be even more raw than the first one. It was practically bleeding, which is definitely not what you would expect from a properly cooked medium-rare steak. To top it off, the manager was quite rude. I noticed that he was wearing his mask improperly, hanging below his mouth, and none of the staff seemed to be washing their hands. Additionally, the table was sticky. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience."

"There are not many restaurants where you can find gluten-free pasta, so I am giving it 5 stars. I absolutely loved the carbonara pasta - it was just as tasty as any other regular pasta."

"We were a party of 16 friends who shared a set menu of starters, pizzas pasta. The whole evening was super great staff who were pleasant, knowledgable patient with our large party. An amazing variety of food delicious served with beautiful presentation care. Gluten free diets were easily catered for nothing was too much trouble. The puddings, coffee wine flowed we were under no pressure to leave at all even at 11pm. This really felt like a restaurant where the owners are present at the heart of a great team. Good luck to you all if you’re reading this stop right now book you won’t regret it!!"
"The food is delicious and definitely worth the price. I will be a regular customer here, as I always return to places that have great food. You won't be disappointed."

"After visiting another restaurant on Chorley New Road, we decided to check out this new addition to their collection. We found the quirky two-level layout of the restaurant to be much more appealing. We used to go there when it was called Shadus, an Indian restaurant. Retreat has clearly invested a lot in the decor and ambiance, creating a very comfortable interior. For anyone who may have difficulty with stairs, I recommend requesting a table on the ground floor, as dining is available on both levels."

"frightening customer service. rude and indifferentes personal. does not believe that we are booking for afternoon as “we do not take bookings in a weekend”. they gave us a table. tee arrived and the brioche so advertised was missing and the scones were rock hard. When I drew attention to it, I got “so you waited 10 minutes to tell me about the scenes”. there was also a language barrier, or at least it was like they didn't understand what we were trying to tell them. I never had such a terrible experience as this. Avoid this place as the plague. I wish I would be on trip advisor. the reviews for this place are not good."

"Had a great first time experience, staff so friendly, food was delicious and I have had stomach surgery so the small plates were perfect for me. Our waitress was so nice, we were still drinking when the next guests for our table had arrived, our waitress said she could move us to a smaller table to let us continue with our visit instead of rushing us away. Will definitely be back"

"Specialising in French crepes, Kensington Creperie has the widest range of crepes I know in London. From savoury to sweet to alcoholic ones, it has everything you will ever need. "The setup at the cafe was a bit confusing - it seemed like we were expected to sit down first and then order at the till, which was inconvenient. Alternatively, we could have gone straight to the till to order, but this was not made clear by the staff. When I questioned the lady at the till about the pricing, she pointed out that the prices were listed on a menu that was not offered to us for dine-in. I felt the prices were not clearly displayed or communicated. Even the board only showed takeaway prices for a full English breakfast, not the dine-in price. It seemed strange, as most people wouldn't think to take away a full English breakfast. After a couple of inquiries and a double check of the door sign, I realized my mistake in overlooking the 'takeaway price' notice. An Indian lady who worked there proceeded to raise her voice and scold me about the pricing, which was embarrassing and unnecessary. Despite the unpleasant encounter with the staff member, the food was enjoyable. However, if I were to visit this cafe again, I hope that individual is no longer working there. With my experience as a former server of 10 years, I believe such behavior has no place in the hospitality industry."

"We walked to this village pub and decided to have food. The drinks were a fair price, and there appeared a decent menu. We had some chicken fillets to start, which were okay. However, the mains are very dreadful. The chips on both meals looked as though they had been fried ten times, simply burnt as was the fish which was simply inedible. The excuse for mushy peas was dry and bland. The gammon was overcooked, and both meals were saturated with salt but no condiments on the outside table. The lady serving was pleasant enough, and we gave feedback. She advised the locals don't go anymore I won't be going back either. Part of the excuse was that they didn't decide the food Punch Taverns agreed on the menu that was irrelevant as no matter how good the food was it was massively overcooked and laced with salt."

"My partner and I were looking for a change of breakfast venue. We always go to The Antiquary in St Stephen Street as we love it. No one has a patch on it yet. So we headed to The Piece Box. On entering we were happy to see there were hand sanitizers and given a seat very quickly. We sat at the door, but there was a bit of a breeze everytime it opened, but this was to be expected. We just didn't want to take up a table for four.Orders were taken quickly. I ordered the full breakfast and my partner ordered pancakes and bacon with maple syrup. Tea and coffee also. The place started filling up very quickly mostly with people under 40 or maybe 30. So we got there in a good time.As we waited on our food I just sat back and observed. I noticed one of the waitresses take a clean teaspoon to accompany the coffee she was going to give out, and she dropped the spoon on the floor and without any hesitation she threw it in the sink in the kitchen and got a clean one. This was nice to see. Which wasn't nice to see was the cook running around like a demented chicken trying to probably juggle more than he can chew. This was stressful to watch and not feeling a relaxing atmosphere at all.Breakfast came. My partners was fine. Mines was disappointing. The plate didn't feel all that warm, my bacon was cold and chewy, like eating an old slipper. The chipolata sausages not to my liking, but the worst was the mushrooms! They were awful awful!! They were like eating earth, bad earth. I said to my partner you can have them as he loves mushrooms and would eat anything but he could not eat them. We were thinking they were either out a tin or boiled and as dark as a miners pit. Best bit of the breakfast was the poached egg. Only got one piece of toast with butter that was to my liking. I was also given a choice of black pudding or haggis...for £10.50 I'd expect both. My local pub does an amazing breakfast for £8.50, good quality ingredients and top up coffee. Really disappointed with the Piece Box effort. Service was good, waitresses polite, stuck to all the COVID rules, but I won't return. I like a nice hot breakfast."

"Visited this place twice now. The first time I tried to order dish number and they didn't have it available.. tried ordering a second meal.. didn't have it. Ended up ordering chicken pesto sandwich.. was decent, super greasy though. They Also had a hole in the floor in the toilet which was covered over by lino.. second visit months later.(today) ordered a sandwich with scrambled egg,Bacon, ham, sausage and cheeses.. when the food arrived it basically looked like a McDonald's style egg with either bacon or ham in(not convinced it had both in) either way it didn't have sausage inside. And looked to me like a very thin layer of one type of cheese. I showed it to the lady behind the counter, she apologized and said that there was no sausage left and the chef didn't tell her.. got my money back but wasted half am hour in this place.. the hole in the toilet Floor upon inspection is about two foot by foot covered up by lino.. this has gotten more unstable from months ago. Basically damp plywood and I don't think it's from water. It was disgusting serious health and safety concerns here they should be inspected..."

"I wish I could write a 0 star review the most ignorant customer service I have ever dealt with. Uber driver stole my pizza ok but the man I rang in the restaurant was beyond unhelpful he was so rude and so aggressive he didn’t care I never received my order because he was closing. I will never order from this restaurant again absolute ignorant customer service and I work in customer service myself so I know good customer service. Sort your staff out it’s a disgrace!!"

"Delicious food!! Fantastic service and will definitely be returning! Lovely flexible staff with having children there too, they'll accommodate your needs. Good value for money. The Linguine Al Diablo (spicy seafood pasta) was absolutely amazing! Good recommendation of wine given by the waiter. We went for my birthday and it was a real treat. Get yourselves down to the hidden Napoli restaurant Farina, you won't be disappointed. Kid-friendliness: Waiter was super helpful with the children."
"Was really nice to eat somewhere different. Had a chocolate oat yoghurt thing with coconut flakes on top. It was delicious, you could taste enough chocolate to know it was there but not enough to go into a diabetic coma. I also had a salame al cioccolato, which was warm and soft (usually in Italy you tend to find them a bit denser). The flat white was nice and the selection of hot food was very wide."

"Off the main drag in Canterbury, this place is well worth a visit. It can be a little challenging to find (we were walking) as google might lead you to a bit of a dead end, but just keep going around the corner and you'll pop right into it. A nice airy space with high and low tables and a long bar. Love the sustainable and local focus. Really pleasant server and barkeep as well. We ordered the bubble and squeak starter which was a new one for us Americans. I had the steak and Foundry Ale pie which was incredible. Exectly how you want this sort of thing loaded with tender meat and veg and a huge, flaky crust. He had the hunters chicken which I heard no complaints about. We finished with the sticky toffee pudding and it was one of the best things I ate during our travels. Loved the sparkling fruit cider that I ordered: fresh and bright and bubbly. Can't recommend this place enough!"
