"Booked a week in advance to turn up to the diner to be told they weren’t taking bookings as they were closing in two days to be told to wait around and we will be squeezed around the bar in 20 mins and they were only taking cash! It was so loud in there not happy as we then had to rush and find somewhere else before our musical started! Put me off booking an Ed’s diner again was comingnon recommendation from my sister who has visit an Ed’s before! To try and squeeze people the way they did was ridiculous it was so hot in there and people couldn’t talk to each other! Or have personal space"

"Took some family members (7) for carvery at 4pm Sunday. Starters dried up , soup wouldn’t come out of jug so had to remove lid tip out . Just a lump of cold congealed mess . Bread rolls rock solid. Main was equally terrible , end of dried up turkey (server apologised) ham fatty and no beef. Veg and potatoes soggy and just leftover from early in the day . So greasy and cold . All got left . There was a table with breakfast food on it , ie, croissants, jam . Seeded muffing and granola. This is what my two grandsons ate . We complained to server , he laughed and said yes it’s left over from breakfast! Never ever in my 60 years have I had such an embarrassing and inedible meal . I’ve never ever left a negative comment on any site before but this was totally unacceptable. I’ve sent an email but not sure if I’ve sent it correctly. We spent a great deal of money on this meal and had to take the children to a fast food outlet on the way home . I was very upset as I had chosen this venue felt very upset embarrassed by the whole experience. Needless to say we won’t be returning or recommending this carvery experience. Someone seriously needs to look at the quality of food . Potatoes , supposedly roast where just white in colour and covered in grease . There was maybe 10 potatoes in the server and there was 7 of us in our party but we asked and told there wasn’t any more . Why we stayed I do not know . Several days later I cannot stop thinking about this meal and feel incredulous that we didn’t ask for a refund, probably just much to polite to do so ."

"I arrived at 6:30 only to find out that the restaurant was closed. It shouldn't be allowed to book a table during closing hours. I wasted £2 on parking and drove all the way from Dumbarton. We decided to dine here before our baby gender scan to relax, but instead ended up feeling more stressed."

"Great place for fast food. Milkshakes are ridiculously good. My only slight complaint is opening hours. We booked a table for 8.30, and they closed around 9, so while we were accommodated, everything felt very hurried. That said I should have checked the closing time before booking so that the complaint is not really with the venue itself. All in all, great value for freshly cooked food."

"The hotel and bar experience was really nice but wasn't impressed with the grill restaurant. Menu was quite misleading in terms of the main courses, skewers didn't specify only one was meat and the other was veg... In addition the muscles for starter there was lots of empty shells so portion ended up being small instead of average. Fed back to the waiter in the night but nothing came of it."

"Ate here before a concert as we were staying at the hotel. Our deal included a 2 course meal each from a fixed menu with a choice of 4 starters, 6 mains and a few desserts. We chose to share a starter and a pud, plus have a main course each. The portion sizes were fairly large so this was a good choice, and it se emend like the staff were used to people doing this so no problem in getting extra cutlery etc. The food. Was well cooked and tasty and good value for the price paid. Suggest booking in advance as we saw customers being turned away."

"We had our first meal at Sammy's last night and what a fabulous evening! The welcome by the owners Sam and Becky was warm and friendly to both us and our dog Beryl. "We arrived at 6.30pm on Tuesday 11th February, there were two on service, and we were shown to our table and drinks arrived later. It was very quiet with only about 8 other guests, mainly single diners. We ordered a garlic pizza to go with our drinks and when it arrived at about 7pm it was cold and soggy. We then waited and waited for our main course which finally arrived at about 8pm. My wife, who doesn't usually complain, said to me this is cold; she was having some sort of steak dish. I then tried mine which was also cold. The fried chicken was very clearly a piece of warmed up cold chicken, which had gone cold again, also the salad which was meant to be warm was cold. I called for the waitress and explained the problem. I said that I wished to send it back and did not want a replacement. She offered the same to my wife, but she opted to eat hers. From then on I am afraid that the staff seemed to avoid us. When we were ready to go to pay our bill, the waiter said that he understood that we had had a problem with our meal. I explained our dissatisfaction and he asked whether I wanted him to go and see the manager. I was rather appalled at this. There was no real apology and if he had been really customer friendly, I would have expected him to have sorted it all out before we came to pay. I said no, paid the full bill and departed feeling very dissatisfied. I don't know whether we had hit a bad night but I couldn't recommend this eating place to anyone."

"We were staying at the hotel attached so tried eating here on first night. We queued for nearly 10 mins to get a drink and order our food. When eventually our food came the starters came with the main meal and i had asked for sweet potato fries instead of normal. I received both. When the receipt was checked they had charged me for the extra portion but the queues were too much to go back to bar. also the food we had received was not good, I didnt eat my ribs not sure if they were cooked properly. While we were there we saw many people send their food back and lots and lots of people complaining about the wait. "I am a member at the village gym and always come for spa day and and lunch with my friends as i love it here at Hull village. I decided to book a meal for my dad's birthday last Sunday for 6 of us as a supirse for him and what a supirse we had. We ordered 4 roast dinners and 1 child main and 1 main off the normal menu. My fathers meal and sons meal came out 35 mins before our roast dinners which we was not happy about as by the time they arrived my father had finished his dinner. When the carvery came we asked for all of them on plates and got them all on woodern boards. 3 beef dinners came out and my nephews dinner roast turkey didn't... He then had to wait another 10 mins for his dinner and another 5 for extra Gravey... They apologised and gave is a round of free drinks which didn't really cut it but we was grateful. The staff looked petrified and unsure of what to say or do and it was because of them not telling the kitchen 2 tables where put together and we had finished our starter everything where so bad. We then ordered deserts 2 hours later. We got a gluten free ice cream and 3 chocolate brownie and Icecream. 2 brownie came out but my sons Ice cream and my desert was missing so then we had to complain again. We could not beleive it. They then came back out 5 mins later after my mum and nephew finished there dessert to tell me they had ran out of brownie and they forgot to do the Icecream. I was fuming by this point as you can imagine. I decided to have the chocolate cake instead. When it finally came out it was frozen cold with cream not hot. i was gutted but i was that mad my dad's birthday was ruined i left it. They said sorry for the bad service and mess and wiped the bill which of course they had no other choice really as it was that bad they even began to laugh at some of there own team members. The whole experience was a disaster. Im suppose to book a meal for 8 in December for a girls night but now im not so sure. So disappointed."

"On Sunday evening, I visited the restaurant after booking a room at the hotel. Unfortunately, the restaurant was closed and we were directed to the Grill instead. However, at 7.30 pm, there were three large screens showing football with loud music playing, making it difficult to have a quiet meal and converse with friends. Despite this, we bought drinks and spoke to the manager, who was accommodating and attentive. The bar staff seemed inexperienced with the till system, but the manager ultimately resolved the noise issue by setting up a table in the lobby area. When checking in at 4.30 pm, the noise from the TVs in the lobby was overwhelming, prompting me to consider leaving immediately. A staff member helped with check-in by shouting over the noise. I would suggest separating the noisy bar area from the lobby to avoid losing customers in the future. Overall, the service provided by the manager was satisfactory, despite the initial challenges."

"Not at the moment. Wait for the full refurb before going back. The staff didnt know if they were handling the bar menu or the grill menu. Ordering drinks at the bar, same 4 drinks, different prices depending on who served you. On the grill side 3 course Sunday lunch Starters was soup served from coffee pots in enamelled cups. Main was server on a wooden board, Desert was cookies or croissant. We had to order separate deserts from the bar menu (at extra cost) for one not to arrive at the table. (cost deducted from the bill) To be fair the food that was server was nice BUT!!!!! If I wanted a cup a soup I would have stayed at home. We ask for plates because how do you pour gravy on a wooden board? plus I don't like the taste of wood in my roast beef. Finally, cookies, croissant or a shot glass of cream with a bit of jam doesn't constitute dessert to me. Bring back the carvery! and plates!"

"We booked under a deal which included two course and a glass of prosecco each. This was really good value and generally the food was good. However, the service was very poor. Initially they refused to give us the prosecco even though I had my booking confirmation on my phone which showed it included prosecco. They were very rude and unhelpful and I ended up having to leave my table to go to the reception for help. The reception staff were great and sorted the problem straight away. Even on my return when we were served the prosecco the staff were still very rude and did not apologise for the mistake."

"We decided to visit this restaurant with our friends because it is local to us, we have been there before and had good food and we love Italian food. We arrived on what we thought would be a busy evening due to a local international air show. When we got into the restaurant it was very quiet but didn't think much of it. Then we looked at the menu and was shocked as to the changes that had been made as there was only a couple of things on there that would be classified as Italian it was mainly Asian/Eastern food. We were somewhat confused and quizzed the waitress as to where the Italian choices had gone and she advised that the menu had been changed. The choices for the 4 of us were vegi skewers, beef skewers, burger and meatballs. The food was cooked well and tasted good but the restaurant seems to currently have an identity crisis with an Italian name and stating italian restaurant on the front of the menu but very little Italian food choices. Also it was very quiet for a Saturday night, no atmosphere and the waitresses seemed to rush us a little in order that they could close up. I would not recommend this restaurant at the moment until the menu changes."

"The last time I ate in this building was over 25 years ago when the restaurant was Montmerencies. It was excellent so I decided to give the Flaming Cow a try. The menu options were very limited. My wife selected the half rack and wings combo and i went for a burger. The burger did not come with French fries but my wife’s choice did. As she is not a great lover of fries I didn’t order an extra portion to accompany my burger but did ask for a side of onion rings. Despite there being 3 types of ale on the menu the only one available was a 330 ml can of Camden Pale Ale at 6 pounds. I didn’t realise the price when ordering or I would have made do with water. My wife went for a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. There were only two wines available, the SB and a Malbec. The wine appeared to have been subjected to a reverse miracle, having been turned from wine into water. It was so weak that I am surprised it was allowed out without an accompanying nurse. The waitress returned to advise me that they were out of onion rings so did I want another side instead. I would have had a salad except the only one on the menu was a full main course chicken salad. I declined. When the food arrived my burger was ok but nothing special. The ribs on my wife’s meal were excellent, tasty and with the meat falling off the bones. The same could not be said of the wings. I know people have differing palates but I never thought that wings could be made inedible for me. The taste was of a concoction of chemicals that were never meant to be in the vicinity of food. We left and retired to the George, opposite, where I was able to enjoy a couple of pints of Guardsman at “only” 5 pounds a pint. This was my first and last visit to the Flaming Cow."

A table was booked for 7.30pm tonight to celebrate an 18th Birthday, we pulled up it was closed! To see the look on these 4 girls faces, SHAME ON YOU!! Called no answer, finally answered by a rude man saying we open at 8! BS!!! You open at 6, no? As per your website? AVOID this place after the way they let down these young girls tonight, no sorry nothing! Thankfully Turquise in Loughton fitted them in at the last minute......ps.
